GGG didn't attack early on because Canelo started very strong, ggg needed Canelo to fatigue cause only then will canelo slow down, allowing golovkin to get some shots off with less risk of getting hit back
People say ggg needed to be active from round 1 to 12 but it's easier said than done, especially against canelo
Canelo has had stamina issues his entire career.. G should’ve just went in for the kill early
GGG was just in punching range, but didn’t pull the trigger
Exactly people don’t understand had GGG been busy what would’ve happened??? He would’ve been hit more and gotten more tired. GGG saw that canelo was the sharper fighter and made GGG gun shy.
@@luismosqueda7293 If GGG would've pulled the trigger early on, the only thing that would've happened is he would've got his ass beat worse & that's facts.
Look at how strong & accurate Canelo's power punches were from round 2 & on.
Canelo came out with brute force, that was prime saul alvarez, nobody else could smack ggg around like canelo did on that night
@@mikesaunders9493 GGG would've gotten knocked out or would've been bleeding if he attacked early. Canelo is a powerful counter-puncher. He's known for it, which is why he puts himself on the ropes on purpose sometimes. Early counter-punches would've been horrible for GGG.
They need Roy on the show more his knowledge is needed
Legend
💯
Yeah, Shawn is annoying.
Idk, sometimes Roy says outlandish shit.
And a blessing
He called ggg a " tomato can " that shows what he knows
At this point he is a tomato can. GGG wanted revenge so bad against Canelo and didn’t even try to fight back in their last fight. It was embarrassing!
Just like how Shawn disappointed us vs Ugas.
That doesn’t change the fact that Canelo looked average.
@@slicks1175 saying that like canelo hasn’t fought nothing but champions the last couple of yrs…. He needs to rest and these guys need to start fighting eachother
@@isaaccardenas1844 yet Canelo is tbd biggest duck artist in the sport
@@ObiAmajoyiSrMD damm princess you a canelo hater.
Also keep in mind Porter is the same height as Canelo and made his debut in the super middleweight division and fought 11 times from junior MW to super middleweight. And yet look at the work Canelo has put in across so many divisions. Porter would've probably gotten KO'd even against this older version of GGG at super middleweight.
Man Roy Jones is so freaking knowledgeable. Jeez. This combination of people in this podcast is 🔥 maybe cause I’ve always been a fan of Porter and Roy Jones. Great Champions
Canelo said he hurt his wrist during Caleb plant fight in the post conference after the ggg 3 fight . EVER fight where canelo is so call slapping Jones name was after that fight.
Personally I think all this up and down in weight classes is really hurting canelo, he’s 5ft 8 and carrying a lot of muscle mass! His engine has always been a concern
Lmao I love this. Now it's too much weight affecting him.
He always slows down after the 6 or 7th round it's not about the weight classes lol he always had trouble with conditioning
@@firellparker7463 he beat ggg stupid undisputed at 68 ???
Like his bad knee
Idk…. He looked super conditioned vs Danny jacobs.
I wouldn't call GGG a tomato can
Yes Canelo has seen and fought GGG 2 times BUT GGG has also seen and fought Canelo 2 times. Canelo isn't the only one who's going to learn after having gone 24 rounds before
In regards to the expectation and disappointment that y'all have towards Canelo for not finishing the fight early, y'all must've forgotten that GGG has never been stopped, let alone dropped in his whole career. He's barely even shown signs of being hurt. GGG was also the guy that many people expected him to drop or stop Canelo in the first fight since GGG was known as the KO specialist but that didn't happen
Last thing, Canelo also admitted to have been hurt from his wrist/hand and even had someone come out and explain it. Hence why he's having upcoming surgery and why he's taking time off because it'll take time to heal
He hurt his hand because of how he punches. Roy Jones clearly mentioned Canelo slaps his punches which is true. Also, yes GGG has never been stopped before but Canelo was the main one saying the fight would be ended before 12. Another thing how can you consider yourself #1 pound for pound but you continuously gas out in the late rounds which is something he struggled with throughout his whole career. He is a great fighter but there is a blueprint to beating Canelo.
@@securethebaggg I mean what was canelo suppose to say??? “Nah it’s go the distance lol”
Every elites fighter is born with something many people don’t have. Many elites are born with hand speed, stamina, punching power, or a granite chin. But all fighters can’t have it all🤷♂️.
He didn't admit, he lied. At what point in his last 3 fights has he punched Luke his hand was hurt? Point to 1 punch please. ✊🏿🥊
GGG had just come from a KO beating Murata. Charlo or Andrade would of been their best win if they had beaten Murata.
Great analogy..true statement.
The fact that these have boxed and not say what you said .it's unbelievable bais.
This is a little crazy to me. Their two previous fights, and their careers show neither of those guys were stopping each other. Canelo always has periods of gassing a bit in the later rounds. It was always going to be a Canelo points win.
People underestimated GGG's chin , that man can take a punch. I never expected canelo to get the stoppage but i alos didnt expect the fight to be soo boring .
Boring because canelo won ever round ???? Boring is mayweather running running running a whole fight
Facts homie these people sound jealous and manipulated
@@berniemac3535 sorry, it fucking sucked.
@@berniemac3535 given how the other two gave us high expectations? Yeah. It was a dud
I thought Canelo could get the stoppage if the corner stopped the fight but then his lack of stamina happened and began to get gassed by round 7
This is not Shawn, he’s acting different cuz of Roy,
Best analysis of the fight I’ve heard so far. Nothing like listening to real pros.
It’s obvious Canelo has some health issues and injuries. Who else has been fighting champions 4 times a year like him??
Really 4xs a year.Canelo is a Con .
That left hand had a lot to do with canelo not stopping ggg
He said he needs surgery on his left hand 🤷🏽♂️
He dominated ggg. He gassed out due to throwing everything with power. Ggg got a chin. Also ggg is always a live dog with power.
GGG 40.. canelo couldn't even hurt him lmao
dominated who?...lmao! that is the only thing he has never been able to do to GGG. why couldn't he beat a 40 yr old the way he beats younger fighters? because he can't, never has! GGG did dominated Canelo on the first one hamds down, but canelo got gifted a tie, we all know that.
@@vicvic2081 who has ever hurt GGG? Ill wait
Calzhaghe was slapping Roy all fight!
Whay fight were u watching
@@alexandereasley6078 That one watch it again if you don’t know. That’s all Calzaghe does is slap you slap the shit out of Roy hard he was changing it up changing the speed on his punches he go from slapping to punching
Yup Calzaghe was the original slap champion and that’s why he couldn’t knock out old ass Roy and Bernard. James Toney would of schooled his ass.
Nobody is giving GGG a fair shake on why he didn’t allow canelo to get the ko ot anything… he knows he had something coming back!
Triple G came out there to not get knocked out. He didn’t come to win unfortunately
GGG is a great fighter, but he was not doing much to keep Canelo off, certainly not with light jabs, I havent seen him throw like that before he was like sparring and Canelo could not get him out, either they were both just not trying to hurt each other, or it is Canelo also can't pull the trigger anymore.
GGG was throwing noodles 😭😭
Huh
What if GGG was also stronger at this weight. These so called experts didn't see canelos eyes all puffy.G no marks. And where do they get the idea it's easy to Ko Golovkin, the top 3 boxing chins in boxing history,P4P. Why does porter not take Golovkin chin at face value, never been stung by a shot and Jacob's and canelo banged him for 48 rounds! 400 fights, never been rocked. To correct Jones,Mike tyson was Prime when he fought every 3 months!86-88
Alvarez was at his best at 160...vs GGG and Jacobs...168 hit his movement, speed and power. He didnt k.o GGG or get K.o by GGG ...GGG being older slower , he still has that iron chin and experience. Expecting a k.o was as good as pissin into wind then gettin mad when your pants get wet
Canelo said his left hand was broken and requires surgery, so that likely explains what Roy said about the good right hand and slap left hook
No one has knocked out ggg. Canelo started so much faster than usual, with everything, to surprise ggg which is why ggg couldn't attack. He never could take it easy or ggg would dominate. So he could only overwhelm him. Trying to knock him out, would be a waste of energy and canelo would of been stopped.
Nah fam I just think GGG is too old for Canelo GGG was scared to throw at first because of how slow he is and he didn't want to get countered it looks like he just conserved his energy for the later rounds. In the first 2 fights GGG was way faster this last fight was a disappointment on Canelo part he couldn't even put him to sleep he just beat up an old man because he was scared to rematch him 4 years ago. They both would've made way more money 4 years ago anyway.
@@almightyaustin651 same money honestly. I hear you but everything I said is not to be ignored. Ggg only got this fight because he was with dazn. He could of got it earlier if he fight some big names but he stayed underground for 4 years.
Canelo has never started this fast before, and it's a smart tactic for an old ggg. Hitting the body like canelo did is what you do with an old man. Again no one has knocked out ggg. He's 40, but a champ at 160, not a 40 yr old gas station worker, ggg is still levels above at world class level.
One of your best shows, Roy Jones energy was awesome. Love his humor and his knowledge great great show please invite him again soon.
Stay jealous of Canelo it's fuel for him
Roy is right, Canelo gives the illusion that he has more power than he actually does, he slaps a lot. Look at his fight against Hatton and Cotto and you wonder why they didnt go down but you watch closely and realize he slaps a lot with his combinations.
The notion that Canelo doesn't carry power is comical when most opponents are more tentative than in any other fight in their careers which is amazing considering they have everything to gain with a win. Canelo has good accuracy and throws shots with full extension more than any other fighter so I don't know where this slap talk comes from. You can straight up hear and see the thudding impact of his shots. Also, prior to the GGG rematch, Canelo used to be more backfoot counterpuncher who was content banking in the rounds landing the bigger shots. And again, opponents were usually reluctant to open up but you're even bringing up his Hatoon fight when he was 20.
@@californio1850 no one said he didn't have power, we said he gives the illusion that he has MORE power than he does. Of course he has power, his speed and counter punching ability is what is scary
@@KevinSar You're talking about slapping shots when those aren't slapping punches lol. He may not be a one punch KO artist but he's definitely heavy handed with some of the most effective and intimidating power.
The fact a washed GGG made it competitive at the end and didn’t cave under the power coming up a weight class proves just how average the champs at 168 were
No… GGG is just good. Callum Smith is a beast too. The others are technical good boxers
How we know hes washed he hasnt lost only to Canelo he dont fight anybody else lol
@@jd4064 the fight before he didn’t look good
GGG has a good chin and didn't come to win. He went in there to go rounds and steal a couple at the end when Canelo is tired. That's a losing strategy. If he had opened up from the start and tried to make it a fight, he would have opened himself to more damage.
@@Ah-ws9nm not gonna look good every fight to people like you that don't box ya feel me
Didn't Canelo have a wrist or hand injury?
I like porter but he always hating on fighters that aren’t in the pbc roster smh , Roy Jones watches without being bias how it should be
the whole podcast is bias
Thanks for dropping so much knowledge bro. I completely agree with Shawn
Canelo clearly dominated the fight and he put the stamp on it in the 12 Rd. GGG couldn't do much but did fight back late.
As far for the criticism, GGG has never looked this bad before so you got to give Canelo some kind of credit.
Im a big Canelo fan but my god prime RJ at 168 would chew him the FUCK up. That would be an epic beatdown
Lol keep dreaming
Lol RJ will get flatten. He had great reflexes but horrible boxing skills.
Absolutely love this podcast.
Great point about the punching technique.
Whoever said canelo would’ve did good vs ROY back in the day is crazy!
I have noticed in the past few fights the thing that Canelo needs to tighten up is his cardio. guys at his level should be speeding up around 7 or 8 , like triple G did.. Canelo was slowing down.
He hasn’t had cardio for a min now he said he hasn’t ran for couple years now because of his knees so he’s been fighting without cardio to his training look up the vid from this last fight and he mentions it
i got crazy drunk and then fell asleep rather than being like oooooooo shit.
Glad Roy was on the show
If I had to take a shot for everytime Roy said yaunderstandme I wouldn't have a liver anymore
Slightly off-topic, a great podcast but you guys need some sound-deadening treatment in the room, you have a slight decay which makes the room sound hollow and your voices lack authority as a result. Nevertheless always enjoy listening to the great commentary,
Bro GGG fought defensive from the first round till the 9th, he prepared to limit as much as possible the body work of Canelo. Golovkin is no bum or low iq fighter. And Canelo wasn't gassed he slowed down a bit after the 9th but it's not like he wasn't in the fight. Excessive criticism for a 10-2 performance making it look easy. Let's see Golovkin Charlo next
Exactly people need to understand GGG was trying to see the 12th round. Had GGG been busier in the earlier round he would’ve opened up more and canelo would’ve landed clean to the body.
Ggg sleeps Charlo at 60
10:46 where was that energy against Crawford lmao yo daddy saved yo ass 😂
Lmao Crawfors is different, he tried nearly got his Ass Koed, man need to leave bud alone tbh.
Awsome session!!!❤ boxinG!!!
That fight was more like a exhibition
Cool vibes Watching Brazil you speak the True Champ
I've always been critical of Canelo because I always feel like something is missing from him to reach the elite level. He's technically sound and knows how to win but he just doesn't have that X factor that puts him with the likes of the all time greats.... with that said he's very good and he's accomplished great feats but Greatness isn't in him.
He’s already an all time great. Like it or not. Guaranteed Hall of Famer.
@@texashorror8701 perhaps but who has he beat in his prime with no asterisks?
There are different types of greatness. Canelo isn't flashy, but he gets it done by being efficient and can both mix it up and box. He's got a generational resume, period and notched up accomplishments few fighters have pulled off. One of his trademarks is making guys more reluctant than in any fight of their careers and can bring down the pace at his level. Forcing fighters to adjust to you is a mark of a great fighter. People knock him for his loss to Bivol and being1-1 vs light heavy champs when the only other fighter to be light heavy champ moving up that many divisions was 6'1 ATG Thomas Hearns.
@@californio1850 what fighters did he make fight at his pace? Mayweather? Cotto? Lara? Golovkin the 1st time? Please tell me I’m intrigued
damn bro if he isn’t on the elite level then who is 😂😂crazy talk from someone who watches on the couch every weekend
They really thought that Canelo was gonna knock out GGG😆🤣😄😂🤣
That was base on GGG age. But not realizing he already ate canelo best shot. The man has a steel chin.
@@romengoneg238 people keep on thinking that 40 is a senior citizen😄😃😀🤣😅at 40 punches are still very hard and solid
two iron chins. that's what gave the fight the *illusion* of being dull. watch it again. the way they absorbed all that power was fascinating to me.
We live in a crazy world. Telling the truth is hate these days. If there was unfair or unnecessary criticism then yes that would be hating. If what is said can be found to be true then people gotta get out of their feelings.
Exactly! Preaching over here! Only thing is keep the same energy with Every fighter not just some.
Exactly Roy. Back to back fights and short preparation was the strategy Canelo use to deplete a battle worn Kovalev.
There was no "strategy". Canelo tried to fight Kovalev prior and offered to step in for Yarde, but Kovalev couldn't/wouldn't get it done from his end so it was made after. Meanwhile it was DAZN not Canelo that selected the fight date because they wanted a month buffer between that fight in November and the Joshua-Ruiz rematch. Meanwhile if Kovalev didn't feel ready, he could have put it off until after knowing Canelo wanted it.
The situation wasn't even optimal from Canelo's end because up until Kovalev officially secured the win over Yarde, it remained uncertain whether Canelo would stay at 160 or indeed move up to face Kovalev at 175, so not much time to prepare for such a huge leap in weight. And Kovalev remained a dangerous champ coming off of beating two undefeated top 10s both of which would KO any other fighter moving up that many divisions.
Everybody knows it was a duck tactic by No Cojones DuckNelo because he was just 1 belt away from Undisputed Middleweight King at 160 but was afraid to fight undefeated Boogeyman Champ Andrade for it 👌🏾
Roy said Canelo's left hook was wrong.
he's not throwing it right.
After the fight canelo said he needs surgery on his left hand.
Triple g didn't counter like bivol ....
I guess they didn't hear Canelo couldn't make a fist with left hand
Maybe they missed the press conference with the doctor. They got selective hearing and they trying to big up the rest of the inactive fighters. Never forget Shawn almost got slept by Spence and quit vs Crawford.
Roy you make some great points
We have seen the best of Alvarez back at 160. He is paying the price for all the weight fluctuations and trying to maintain that pace year after year
Knowing to go for the kill and just going through the motions, is what separates the entry level Hall of Famers, from the All Time Greats like Roy Jones Jr.
Is that chill from House Party?
Everyone was talking up GGG and the mystique of him and how he won the other fights, so GGG proved he's a badass and fought not to get knocked out like canelo avoided it with Bivol. The fact Canelo looked amazing & GGG battled to keep CA honest and respect his power. If Canelo would've knocked out GGG then EVERYONE would've just overlooked it and said he's old and CA proved nothing.
in everyone of CANELO's first fights with boxers from the former soviet union he struggles
AUDIO IS NOT GOOD!
9:05 totally agree with Shawna and *Roy Jones* 😂 “we got 24 in the bank, what we feeling out” there shouldn’t have been nothing else to figure out. I love seeing actual fighters point of views.
I think "it ain't gon knock me out" should become a meme.
Truthfully Canelo aged GGG through the whole trilogy. GGG at 33-38 smokes Canelo.
Come on this is sports nothing won on paper. If that was the case Lebron would of won 10 Championships.
🤣🤣
Vacated the title after beating and old small Miguel cotto who beat a crippled acl tear in both knees Sergio Martinez
When canelo beat old man cotto by decision for the belt ggg was the mandatory and had the most momentum in his whole career
Canelo proceeds to vacate that belt and give ggg the belt without a fight and chose to fight some random European
Waiting until danny jacobs slowed ggg momentum and revealed some weaknesses
Then canelo all of a sudden wanted the fight and still had to rob him lmfao
@@micahgarcia2633 Canelo sucks

Damn they watching Canelo with a magnifying glass. Jealousy is disgusting! GGG got a chin!! Nobody is dropping that man. Charlo and Andrade still terrified of GGG truth be told and quiet as it's kept
Notice how Jermall Charlo only called out GGG before the fight, when everyone assumed he would retire after that match. When he heard GGG planned to still fight afterward he probably went "fuck..."
EVERYONE PICKED Clenelo to KO GGG ezz but Fagnelo is extremely overrated
Shawn disappointed me in all of his most meaningful fights because he lost every single one of them, he gets off on people saying Hes relentless and Hes a tough fight for anybody, but that doesn't cut it you have to win those fights, lost to keith, lost to errol, lost to terrence, lost to brook, and arguably lost to ugas, basically only beat paulie the pillow, and danny the sloth, and one punch man broner.
Them boys clowning Nelo, but no one has ever beat ggg or outclassed him … dude is one of the great middleweights … and Nelo did come out guns blazing the first three rounds 🤔
Lmao Porter acting like Bud didn't have him winded/gassed and backing up after round 8, had his fans talking about he was out of his prime.
What about the injured wrist that we have x-ray proof for?
Canelo won almost every single round. It was a complete domination
Nobody giving the fighters credit.
Canelo nuetralized GGG rounds 1-8. Kept him at bay with sharp counters and explosiveness. Then Canelo got tired, and GGG started going to work.
