LYRICS:
Minutes To Downtown
No, I wasn't looking for a door into the morning again
No, I wasn't thinking you would ever be more than a friend
The years I've seen that fell between my date of birth and yours
Fade before the altered shore of a river changing course
No, I didn't think that I would ever feel this way again
No, not with a story this long and this close to the end
And though I try to fathom why home feels strange to me
More and more the other shore is what I need to see
Minutes slip away, minutes become days
Minutes to Downtown, minutes to the Coast Highway
Forever on this freeway dreaming of my getaway
Don't know how I'm still in LA
Now, there may be nothing left for us
But what pleasure can teach
Now, deep in the moment with the future so out of reach
I see that smile and even while it breaks my heart I laugh
That's because this heart was already torn in half
Minutes slip away, minutes become days
Minutes to Downtown, minutes to the Coast Highway
And I'm out on this freeway, still plotting my getaway
Don't know how I'm still in LA

So happy that Jackson is still in our lives giving us such great music.after all these years. 51 years I've been listening to him and his music has become the soundtrack to my life.
You me by 5 years🙋
Me too. I've loved his music a long time.
I’m glad he hasn’t kicked the bucket yet.
That’s amazing, but the pop music explosion of the late 50s-70s is deserving of our rapt attention & vibing.
Right there with you. A very special part of my life's journies..hope to take it with me in my next lifetime ❤
In my opinion the greatest singer/songwriter of all time. He doesn't get as much credit and recognition as some who aren't in his league. I've been a huge fan after getting "late for the sky "for my 12th birthday. Seen him live 24 times. Please come back to England ASAP!!
Although, he really does have an impressive list of awards (see wiki) including appointment to the Singer/Songwriter Hall of Fame. Artists are hard to compare but easy to enjoy. I'm just saying he gets credit and recognition. We fans are the recognition if you ask me. To watch him here on youtube meticulously recreate his songs from his home studio, flawlessly, sparsely, precisely and at the end earnestly look at the camera to share the fun is an exceptional gift to us. Authentic artistry with an enduring recognition of his fans. No complaints here.
Agreed!! Have celebrated some of my life’s best moments at a live JB concert. Like fine wine even more finely aged by time.
@@devonull8784 apologies. I didn't make myself clear in that I meant he doesn't get the recognition he deserves in the UK. I guess it's probably more of a "cult "type following, though his concerts are always sold out here. As I said, I'm a huge fan and aware of the awards he has received. Can't wait for him to tour here again, I'll be first in the queue as always. Just wonder, at the age of 73 how much longer he'll want to keep flying around the world. We also all know he doesn't rush to bring out new albums, but hope there are more to come
@@davewilliams1124 I've been to his concert in Glasgow the last time he was here in 2017. Grew up on his albums from world in motion aged 5 but my dad abd I've said we dint think he'll be back we felt that was his last concert tour in thr uk particularly as he was then nearing 70 and is now 74 this year. Nobody and I mean nobody I talk to even in their 50s -70s has usually heard of jackson browne when I mention him. In fact one friend is exclusively classical music and doesn't even recognise or know 70s or 80s bands and she's 64. So talking about JB to folks my age 35-40 is mute as no1s heard of him but 1 of thr most underrated songwriters ever given many think the eagles wrote their songs yet I can hear ALOT of JB influence in them because of him and frey
@@rosiep3209 exactly the same here, everybody says "i thought he was dead " thinking I meant James Brown! Apparently they're in the process of arranging a UK tour next year! Fingers crossed. Usually see him 2 or 3 times when he comes. Last couple of tours saw him 2 days in a row at the Royal Albert Hall. I live in Brighton. Seeing James Taylor in October. Love J.T but for me J.B will be and always has been no 1
Yes his voice sounds like he is 20! He brings back tears if joy and sadness but both I want to keep feeling. Thx Jackson You are like a long time friend that knows all my life secrets
I don't know why but I cried the first time I heard this song and I still do.
Jackson Browne is always making my eyes flow overrrr
Hi big fans!!!! I’m using this medium to appreciate you particularly being fan of mine from my personal private account. Thank for keep supporting me love you ❤️
I don’t remember when I started to listening to JB. My boyfriend (now husband of 50 years tomorrow), bought me an album of Jackson’s he thought I would like! Boy, was he right! We both are fans from then on at least 50+ years! Renewed obsession during pandemic, thank you Jackson for your home videos! Saw him 5 times since 2016 live, never could afford it in the early years, sorry I missed them!
David Crosby credited Jackson Browne with lighting the candle that inspired the movement to save the whales, stop the slaughter, and bring them back from the brink of extinction. Beautiful testimonial to the power of music. Thank you, Jackson, for all you’ve given and for all you’ve shared. Grateful and inspired. Thanks. 🙏❤️👏
Also so inspired ✨️ 💖 thanks Jackson!!!
I was at San Luis Obispo when Jackson Brown David Crosby and Graham Nash and governor Brown was they're at the anti Nuke rally. That was my last date with Laura white I wonder if she's still out there
& nowhere to be found re the biggest Environmental Humanitarian crime there is in Climate Engineering.... he's been completely mia there > evidently he's yet another whose fallen victim to tptsNb script > Browne has become a raging Hypocrite....sorry to rain on Your Parade
i love all songs of Jackson Browne
Such a talent , from beginning to end, JB brightens my hospital stay
A most precious man!
Growing up and growing old with Jackson Browne, I wouldnt have it any other way!!!
J Browne's records kinda saved me when I was a teenage guy in the late 70s. I wasn't heart broken because of a loss, I was heart broken because I felt I didn't have a life lol. That all changed in the 80s, Lawyers In Love was a crazy song, by that time almost too much was going on in my life. Browne's music has been my constant companion, his amazing live shows too!. 🕯🕯🕯
Have been listening to Jackson Browne since the beginning....Doctor My Eyes.....was great then ...and greater now......thanks for many years of beautiful music......
This may be the first recent song by an artist who's a contemporary of mine (I’m 71) that I think stacks up against his early work. Beautiful use of diminished chords, amazing opening note in the verse, just a great song. Well done, Jackson Browne.
I'm only a young pup of 69 years,I've listened and loved Jacksons music and lyrics since the early 70`s. Hopefully he will be back in the UK before too long. I hope he plays the Symphony Hall in Birmingham.
Long may you run Jackson Browne...
Thank you
If it wasn't for jackson.....I wouldn't be here today.
He still has the clear young voice as in the early days. GREAT JOB
🪁 Good morning.
Beautiful shiny day here on our Northern California Coast. 🌎
Always good to see you.
I’ll never forget the time we had lunch sitting next to each other at the plate lunch in Kauai..
Although, I think you had used too much chili sauce 🤗.
4yrs ago tonight we were downtown at the Ryman - row two in chairs setup in front of the stage. A gift from the girl I introduced Jackson's music to 35 years ago. And her favorite singer/songwriter/storyteller every since. An unforgettable acoustic show.

Hello👋 How'd you see the music? Do you enjoyed it?
I know it's a lovely song! He nailed it.😊✅

Jackson got me past some lonely times back in 78...
What some music.

Hello how are you doing
My J.B. fix always makes a bad day good 😊 thank you!
Awesome that he’s still playing with some of his old friends!
Happy 75th birthday Jackson - great song - melancholy - love the lyrics and melody.. gets me teary eyed 😭
Interesting that today I was playing barricades of heaven on guitar now I got this beautiful notification 😁 🙏
Probably the best songwriter left from the 70s. He still has it when most of the other greats don’t
Feels like you're in the car with Jackson Browne relaxed and talking heavy matters in a friendly way!

What else would you expect.
That’s the old Jackson Browne I love.
He has always been my favorite artist.
one of the best songs by perhaps our greatest singer/songwriter.
Jackson Browne reminds me of a past British beer tagline. 'Refreshes the parts other beers cannot reach'. He is a genius. I guess he doesn't know how he does it himself. Great Video Aesthetic, Hats off to the chap who produced that video edit.
Wow. How'd I ever miss _THIS_ one?
Man on man, you still know how to capture life in all it’s subtleties
G.M. Jackson. Seems I've seen this ride in many of your songs. I enjoyed many a rides with you over 50 yrs now. Love every one of them. Keep em coming. Be well. Much love! 💕
Lovely kind man, thank you.

RUNNING ON EMPTY put the gas in my musical journey with Jackson Browne! Legendary...up to this day, I dig JB!
1 Man does what he does, and what he does is something not all of us can do, but it does show us 1 Man's effort reaches out to so many, as I read all the Joy this 1 Man brings to so many, I can't help but wonder what we, the fan's could do to pass on that Joy? Thank You Jackson Browne,
Love this song jackson ❤️🎉🎶🎸--- ❤️--- --- love babe ❤️
hello 👋
The great Russ Kunkel back on drums with JB on this song. No one plays to the song and sounds better doing it than Russ! Russ along with Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar Guitar, Leland Sklar Bass, Craig Doerge Keyboards and David Lindley lap steel were the driving musical force on JB's biggest hit album Running On Empty and tour. They also played in a few combinations on other songs/albums/tours. Kortchmar co- wrote Somebody's Baby with JB, Tender Is The Night (JB, Kortchmar and Russ Kunkel), Knock on Any Door (Browne, Kortchmar, Doerge and World In Motion (JB and Craig Doerge) and a few more. Kortchmar also wrote Lost In The Shuffle that JB played on tour during that time period and Shaky Town that JB often plays at his concerts even today.
IMO Jackson's best work was when these guys were with him. Known as "The Section" they were also James Taylor's studio and touring band as well as Linda Ronstadt's in various configurations. Scheduling conflicts probably were the reason they quit playing together as a band with JB although some did continue to play with JB from time to time.
They remain close friend to this day. In fact Kortchmar, Sklar, Kunkel along with longtime friend Guitarist Waddy Wachtel and Steve Postel have a new band "The Immediate Family" that have recently recorded two fantastic albums at Jackson's recording studio. A documentary film on the band will be released this fall along with a release of their albums and touring. JB was a major contributor to the film.
All of JBs music is like my life ❤
Nice to see he is still active creating new songs. In the early 90's I had not heard any new songs by JB on the radio, then again he doesn't get much mainstream radio play. I had become a long distance truck driver in 1991. At a truck stop I was looking through the $1.99 cassette tapes and found JB, his I'm Alive album (tape). One of his best and yet never heard any of those songs on the radio. I decided to buy another copy because after listening to the tape I knew I would wear it out. Saw him when he was performing in Austin about 7 years ago. The only other time I went to a JB concert was in the 70's in Dallas. Think it was his Running on Empty tour. Nice that his singing voice has held up all these years.
I am alive and his albums of that era are his best by far.
Just made it home from the show in Kansas City. It did not disappoint. I'm glad you played this one and that you love it as well. You should know that there were many young ladies dreaming they were the woman of the song in the audience tonight. You will always have it. You will always draw attention to important social issues along with your charm. You are our renaissance man. I'm so very happy to have made it to this show. Even with the quarter in the jukebox screamers in the balcony that you handled with such grace. What can we say? Each has their favorite song. Thank you, Jackson. Thank you. My cup runneth over.

Sadly I can relate…..but this is what Jackson Brown’s song seem to do to me. Remind me of how late in the game this is, and how incredibly fortunate I am to have someone to love.
Still on top of the game Jackson!
Thank you Jackson.
Thanks for putting life into words and music
Another perfect song from Jackson Browne. I learn so much from his songwriting. He’s a giant. And even with LA’s imperfections, his love for her is evident.
What a great way to start my day! So nice to hear Jackson Browne's voice sounding the same as ever 😊
He sounds the same!🎶💞🎶

Saw your concert in florida around Orlando, love you music, I'm no young one 56 now, my honor to you Sir, you are a master of your craft, and joy to hear, never heard a song you've sung I didn't like, God Bless.
Jackson is playing at Bluesfest in Byron Bay this Easter and I can’t make it. He’s still got it big time.😢
Patron Saint of LA...old timer staying young.
Excellent song from the Master of Poetry !! Blessings 🙏

I've always loved Jackson for his talent and compassion for humanity!
timeless and ageless 😊
I can not thank you enough for your inspirational, from the heart music that you have written and performed over the span of your career. As i am in my last days on this wonderful little blue marble, in a vastness so great that the mortal mind cannot comprehend. And everything that i have said and done in my lifetime comes back to torture and haunt me, being alone and abandoned I find comfort in every written piece that you have done. Thank you, Jackson Browne for the memories that will be my last thoughts, when i go to the great beyond. Yours truly, Dave Pusley.

Also I want to say that it generous for you to share your art for free to all people that can get on CZcams .
I always liked the grateful dead’s approach of letting people tape their shows. I usually go to Apple Music and buy songs I like like this one and create play list pretending I’m an old FM radio show. I’m always excited to hear great new songs. I mix artists and genres. It’s to bad that more people can’t be into the beauty and the struggles that the arts can help us express
The camera work is really a great accompaniment to the song
This is a great song to put the top down and drive through the night..♡
I will always love you, you're lyrics have made me who I am ♥️
