@@ChiiBomb He got a lot of viewership trolls, threats etc. It was very unhealthy for asmongold and the mmo community. There were other reasons too such as he didnt want his streams to be FF14 etc. There are more reasons but Im not sure what they are.

Ran into this video today, pisses me off that people discouraged asmon from enjoying ffxiv. There is no more legendary run of ffxiv then Asmongold Balds adventure. Hope he continues his adventure one day

@@fabrb26 shadowbringer was the peak of expansion quality so far, people are used to praised heavensward and then disappointed because everyone are putting high expectation with stormblood ( although they redeemed on post stormblood )

27:00 The echo and the blessing of light aren't the same thing, a good way to visualize it is by the 6 crystals you collected and in HW reformed, having a crystal makes you a warrior of light and the blessing of light is like the protective barrier that blocked ultima, the blessing of light also protects you from the ascians. The echo does provide protection against tempering but it is a seperate power from the blessing of light and it's main purpose is seeing fragments from the past, although some users of the echo have other powers also such as the ability to communicate with animals like krile.
Wait, so echo buff that we get in dungeons/raids from party wiped is not the same as this echo that you're talking here.
@@Connen1 That echo buff you get in dungeons/raids is simply FF14 version of adaptable difficulty it's also not the canonical echo you see in the story because once you gain the echo, you always have it.
The thing is, the difference isn't really explained in full until Shadowbringers and Asmon isn't there yet

@@Connen1 I know this is over two years old but, oh well. In dungeons or trials we never actually fail. If we "lose" its considered us seeing a failed attempt vie the echo. Hence why we get an echo "Buff" that gets stronger the more times we fail at a piece of content.
Just 2 more Asmons in the other corners, one that explains why he reacted to himself the way he did when reacting to himself playing FF14, and the other one explaining the reasons why the one explaining why he reacted to himself the way he did when reacting to himself playing FF14 is explaining things the way he is.
Remember when he took the WOW quiz and got more answers wrong. I don't think it's a knock against Asmon as much as I think FF14 is better at presenting its lore any stories in comparison to WOW.
The main reason I remember Elidibus’s name is because I had remember having to fight him in Tactics to get the last summon. There is a bit of poetics involving the character in 14.
As an additional fun fact; out of all of Midgardsormr’s children, only 2 so far actually have dragon-like counter parts in their inspiring mythologies (Tiamat and Nidhog. Bahamut is a turtle, Hraesvelgr is an eagle and Rototoskr is a squirrel)
The Echo and Blessing of light are the most confusing and heavily retconned aspects of the plot.
So many people don't understand what the Echo does or is supposed to do, all we know (at that point in the story) is that it's different from the Blessing of Light, and that in order to get the blessing of light you have to first have the echo.
Initially, those with the Echo are immune to tempering, and have dreams of things they can't know, as well as the ability to communicate with any intelligent being.
The blessing of light's effects are not described until after Shadowbringers and partway through Endwalker, only then do we understand what it does, though what we're told clashes with previously established facts but the end result doesn't really matter because it's either A or B scenario and the results of both A and B are the same anyway.
I agree. They're the only thing after the whole story that still confuses me to this day.

SPOILER PROTECTION (do not continue if you have not done Endwalker)
The Echo is basically showing memories of the calamity that befell the Acians. In which they were sundered by Hydalen. Somehow this vision reawakens some of the creative/progenitor powers of the Acians of those who see it, and gives them varying degrees of special abilities (seeing the past in our case). Later in the story however, it seems there was a distinction made between the tempering protection in which it was Hydalen specifically either "tempering" us, or casting a "protective spell to protect our aether from being manipulated" - her past self's own words. Meaning that the Echo does not necessarily provide protection from tempering, but rather only part of the "Blessing of Light". Though I swear there were some contradictions in the story earlier (ARR-STB), I cant remember the specific characters. Maybe my memory is just bad.

From what I have gathered, both the Echo and the Blessing of Light protect from tempering. The difference being that the Blessing will ALWAYS protect against tempering (due to how tempering works). The Echo on the other hand only gives the POSSIBILITY to protect against Tempering by piting the Echo-User and whichever Primal is trying to temper them in a "Fight of minds" if you will, where they have to resist the Primal with their own strength of will. The main reason why there's so much confusion is because the characters in-game only have theories regarding how each of those work, which they slowly discover are not 100% right.
As a personal addendum: I hold the theory that all Echo users are given the Blessing of Light when they first meet Hydaelyn and that's where the initial in-lore confusion regarding the two started. Kinda how like Dalamud was first believed to be a moon and then it was discovered it was a satellite/prison
The Echo also does different things for different people. An example would be our Echo showing us the events of the past we were not present to see in great detail, and another example is an Au'Ra girl in the Bozja questline who can glimpse into the future.
Not really retconned. Nobody truly knows what the Echo and Blessing of Light are before Shadowbringers. People (and characters) use them interchangeably mainly because they're not common knowledge. They only get defined later because someone who has that knowledge explains them to us.
It really is a shame what the worst part of the FFXIV community did to Asmon regarding the game. He clearly enjoyed it so much and it just became the most toxic experience for him. Watching him play through the story/raids was some of the most entertaining streams I'd ever watched. I hope he returns one day to complete the MSQ but I'd understand if he decides not to.
Can't fully blame them though. That would be ignoring the WoW Andy's who were pretending to be toxic XIV fans in order to get him to stop playing it.

Asmon got me back to FF14 after his 3 month adventure, so glad to have him back even if he stays or not
He's playing games for a living. He'll keep leaving FF each time it grows a bit stale for the viewership and then coming back to it once it gets fresh again.
He likes the game and it makes good content. He just also likes other games that make good content.
WoW will always be his comfort place, but I'm glad he feels good enough to reach beyond the comfortable and back into the unknown. looking forward to your continued journey!
You know seeing that whole thing that bit with the MMOs and regarding community and everything I believe was the very first big jump not just for the WoW community, but the whole community of MMOs as a whole.
It gave people who only play one MMO an eye opener and take a look at other worlds and communities. Its kinda cool ngl.

i like that, despite asmongold being a wow streamer, he acutally puts in effort to learn about ff14. Like with the quiz, he was obviously pisssed he missed some questions cause he misread them instead of just not caring

Asmongold has been brilliant in FF14. His comments on the MSQ have been some of his best moments full stop
For a whole year. He remembered quite a bit of the story. The side bit on 24 man dungeons he's bit rusty on and the 8 mans. Now the other question. Which scene in SHB or EW will he cry. I want to see.

I've been a lifelong Final Fantasy fan, and hater of MMOs. I don't even watch Asmon that much, but him playing FFXIV was a big part of what got me into this game; started October 2022. One of the most fun gaming experiences I've ever had. I wish Asmon would take the MSQ all the way to the end, but I'm just glad he even started the game, otherwise I might not have
I hope asmongold will come back to ff14 and do all the ultimates like he said he would, would make for some great content to watch

Is this what playing ff14 is really like?! Looks incredibly fun.
Minus the fanfare and red carpet, yeah. The community, on the whole, is stupidly welcoming and friendly. The music and the story are pretty great, even if the beginning is a bit of a slog. There's so many things to keep you busy and engaged, crafting and gathering, gold saucer minigames, end game content, mount collecting, even stuff that revitalizes old content. Not to mention the deep dungeons, treasure maps, and PvP which recently got a facelift.
And what's more is, everything you saw in the recap video is included in the free trial of the game.
It's like the most content rich free trial of any game I've seen so far, you can play 2/5ths of all the expansion for free as long as you want.
I'm actually surprised how well Asmon did on the quiz. He actually does pay attention.
His memory is just insanely good, when he does transmog competitions he can name off thousands of pieces of gear, where they drop, from what boss etc.
