The Wii U gamepad may not be that good, *but at least it actually functions properly, and doesn’t move your character around regardless of whether or not you have your finger on the joystick*
"but what if the online service is bad, that doens't change the fact that its on switch!" BUT WHAT IF THE WII U IS BAD?THAT DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT SOME PEOPLE LOVE IT!!!
As someone who has a Wii U and Nintendo Land, both have a special place in my heart for getting me through most of highschool. I still remember my sister screaming when I played as the ghost in the Luigi's Mansion minigame.
I used to be a huge WII U fan when I was young, basicaly the only fun console I had before I got a switch. Sure, I had an Xbox 360 with dungeon defenders and motocross madness on it, but it was nothing compared to what I think was nintendo's most revolutionary design since the wii and 3DS.
Well, You have to pay to play Nintendo switch online, but it’s free on the Wii U, which is confusing. The thing that frustrates me the most about the Wii U is Regional Locking. It was still a thing on the Wii U, and the Xbox One and PS4 played any game.
I think Phoenix has more of a point. Yes, the Wii U has a clunky looking controller, but at least it has a functioning one. The Switch's controller suffers from joy-con drift no matter what controller of theirs you use, meaning that, Although the Switch MIGHT have better games on there, the Wii U has a better controller scheme compared to the Switch
Update: found the first games name. Mart Racer. I remember obscure games from wii. I cant find them online because I cant remember the name. One was a shopping cart game, where'd you (and someone else I think) has to race to get all the grocery items first. I remember two fuzzy bear suits was my fav "skin" Then a haunted family house game of chance, like a board game. Roll the die and see who wins the challenge and gets to move forward/have the most points. Like running through a maze was a memorable one Then a carnival one, pretty obscure and hard to define. Low quality as the others. But it brings good memories.
Sadly my Wii U now is just a Glorified Wii since it struggles to read Wii U games with barely any scratches but can read a Wii game that's been attacked by a brilo pad with no hiccups
I actually downloaded a bunch of virtual console titles recently just because those E shops were closing. Farwell, 3DS & WiiU E shops. Will forever miss them both.
Wii U has games that Switch doesn't (and can't) have. Wii U has Virtual Console and backwards compatibility with Wii games. And uh... innovation by wrapping a Wiimote Plus around a Pro Controller for Motion Controls? As for the Gamepad, it's really not that bad. In most cases it's not required, and it opens the room for some interesting gameplay mechanics. Like in WW/TP where you can use the Gamepad to quickly equip items without entering the pause menu.

My Wii U is still going strong after nearly 9 years of usage, and I’m still entertained by its games. So sure the switch may be better, but that doesn’t change the fact people love the Wii U!
I never had a wii u, nor a switch, and most ive had was an regular wii and xbox360, but the mario maker 1 ui was better than 2's only because of the gamepad
I mean I prefer the switch but I don’t blame Phoenix. Wii U has the e shop which has older games from older consoles, has free online, cheaper controllers, can play Wii games, and just has a lot more charm then the Switch. Also, Wii U doesn’t have as bad controller drift.
There's one thing that I didn't see brought up that I feel should have been: The Wii U is just better for playing DS games. The Gamepad allows DS games to work just fine on the Wii U by being used as a substitute for the bottom screen. The Switch, meanwhile, has no such peripheral. DS games that rely heavily on the bottom screen(for example, Etrian Odyssey) can't work on the Switch. Hell, you could even use The World Ends With You: Final Remix as an example of a game suffering from the lack of anything to serve as a touch screen. You can't play it on the big screen without using those janky pointer controls.
I say this as someone who owned a Wii U and while I do agree that Wii U did have its downsides, it did have some pretty fun games. Like, Wii Party U and Nintendo Land were absolute banger games and all the virtual console games they offered were great as well
That's probably because you broke it. The Wii U does not normally do that, even with old age, but broken consoles(or scratched disks) don't work properly.
Wii U has something Switch doesnt (might change in the future if nintendo listens) Virtual Console. Yes you can basically rent a large selection of games with nintendo online, but some games are ONLY on Wii U's virtual console.
Tsk tsk tsk I present to the court, THE SWITCH’S BATTERY LIFE The Nintendo switch was presented as a home console and to go hybrid that you can play with friends, and with higher demand games such as breath of the wild, Skyrim, Witcher 3, newer titles, and even titles that have yet to come out such as LoZ tears of the kingdom the battery life is significantly decreased to possibly as low as 2 hour or maybe even more depending on the game.
