I find NF talk is a great way to bullshit when you don't want to answer a question that's too personal. So you go all flowery and big picture and end up talking about aliens living on planets far, far away, and the beauty in that...

Aw man that sucks NF talk comes off that way. Those of us who do it don’t mean to bullshit. At least I will speak for myself. My thought process isn’t linear and there are a ton of layers, feelings, thoughts to sift through when I’m speaking. I’m also by default repulsed by a bullshitter and can usually detect when someone is being inauthentic, so it really does suck it comes off that way

@@nicadquartz I actually wish I could be a better bullshitter at work. A bullshitter with a positive purpose if you will. Not a bullshitter who talks a big game and tries to deceive (which is what I was referring to before). At my workplace there are people who are very good at running meetings. Stating the facts, summarizing them, speaking at length, clearly, walking a topic up and then back down, without losing anyone. I think part of it is knowing how to bullshit with skill. It seems like a very ST thing. Def something I admire when I see it because it comes off as very intelligent and mindful of the audience.

@Jerline that's only true for another NF (especially Ne, i.e. xNFP) listening to it. Any NT (specifically NiTe i.e. xNTJ) would not lose focus on the initial topic (and he wasn't off-topic at all, his Ni cleanly threaded the needle at the end).
In fact, (instead of the Ni user in this example, who sticks to the topic) if an Ne user is going on and on with the NF talk that sidesteps from the main topic, Ni/Te listeners will bring them back up and prevent them from pivoting if the shared information is deemed useful (Ni/Fe listeners will maybe notice the pivot and adapt with that change in temperament? I'm not quite sure).

IFJs have an Te blindspot. Which means, they don't ask questions to specify, what exactly was asked (that is probably the main point of Te - what the other person wants). From my TJ point of view, all Ti have problem understanding what piece of information the other person wants to have and for what purpose.
Main type of jokes, that IFJs make is about Te - asking question to specify, what was said (example: INFJ Brie Larson in an interview, where she answers questions from Google).

I'm speculating, that NF "Jargon" when asked the question, is a defense mechanism. He also immediately sped up talking (I know it was already sped up).
    >How has that informed the trajectory of where you are now?
It sounded like he said, the car accident was of course a traumatic experience. Losing his father, having physical injuries. That was a HUGE obstacle to overcome at 11.
It sounded like the arts (Literature and performance) helped him to see, in life, there is both beauty and tragedy. There are thousands of stories where people experienced loss, sadness, pain and grief.
The arts became both a model how others experienced pain and an outlet maybe how he should/could express himself.
"Through performance of really trying to get in tune with some of the complications of being alive...performance gave me an avenue, a conduit of understanding the world. (Helped me to understand) Theres both beauty and tragedy"

The information mismatch between people of different quadras (function combinations anywhere in the function stack) can be really interesting. I am self-assessed as Ti-Ni and a buddy of mine is Ne-Te and we get along great on a casual level, have pretty similar interests, but sometimes it feels like the deeper we get into a topic the more we're speaking two different languages. Or rather, focusing on completely different elements of what's being said. He wants to make a bunch of really broad generalizations about a topic in order to get to a conclusion, whereas I feel like I need to dig into each one of them to see if I agree, so it takes us forever to get anywhere.
I imagine the disconnect would be even worse if you also have different letters, like the Ni-Fe vs. Te-Si in the clip.

I love Marie Kondo's approach... For me, saying goodbye to things I felt a bit guilty about wanting to get rid of, being able to feel gratefulness for things even though it might not be things that you have a need for anymore... gosh, it was such a game-changer. That Japanese philosophy of (Shinto?) treating things as souls, with purposes and all, might be hard to piece together for some of us, but it certainly helps to let go. To think that she, or that anyone, would apply that to housework and clutter just blows my mind. Sometimes we've forgotten how much our minds might actually need to say goodbye and feel grateful for what we've learnt, even when it might not fit with some of our beliefs. I think Kondo's book is very helpful, and rather than watching the series, I'd recommend everyone struggling with clutter to go read the book. It's so much better. At the very least it'll make you rethink your approach to the practice of gathering things, or letting go.

I don't actually believe things have a consciousness that'll register what I'm feeling like some kind of telepathy. Off topic...
I watched one of your videos once in which you talk about observers dealing with Fear and deciders with Pain... When I saw it I immediately associated it with Anxiety and Insecurity, the most common issues every person has to deal with more than once in their lives.
But what about the specific causes of these issues? I was wondering if would it be possible that there was a relation between the cause and the personality type, that is, that every personality type had its own weakspot.
For example, when it comes to anxiety, Oe's fear control (future, rules, stagnation) while Oi's fear chaos (change, the unexpected), so far that's pretty clear to me, but what about the Deciders' causes for Pain or Insecurity? Have you noticed any trend, perhaps related to their inferior function? For example, like...
ExFJ: insecurity about their own ability or intelligence (Ti)
ExTJ: insecurity about reputation or not being respected (Fi)
IxFP: insecurity about competence and the hierarchy of authority (Te)
IxTP: insecurity about personal relationships and acceptance (Fe)
...would anyone agree with this? any thoughts?

Fr. Also, from my own personal experience losing a parent at a very young age in a tragic way, yes it does impact you a LOT and it is very PAINFUL. BUT I think for things like artistic endeavors and endeavors of passion, you don’t really… like… INTERNALLY you don’t really give too much credit to that trauma?? like myself personally despite losing my parent at a young age like the INFJ in the video I didn’t think about it when accomplishing my passions and goals LOL. so while yes it most certainly changed him and shaped apart of his world, i dont think it was conscious enough for him to have enough information to answer with. does that make sense? It’s like… by the time you’re old enough to be pursuing a career and stuff, you’re not really thinking about the parent you lost before you graduated middle school. so even though it subconsciously and indirectly has an impact on your life, it’s not something that you can speak on and voice easily cause it wasn’t all that ACTIVE in the forefront of your MIND all those years, while you were discovering your passions and building on your goals. so when you get asked that question it’s like.. Si is the much more practical one to have in order to function in society I think, I think ISFJs fit in a lot better and function much better than many INFJs do for example.. however Si, is the most curious of all the functions to me because I can see how when paired with ugly beliefs it's Ironically the most damaging function at times. It just wants everything the same.. and things and ppl wear out.. Si can love money but it's not necessarily sustainable.. it depends on the person's values but it's all about its own internal perspective it seems rather than bigger picture and maybe not realising or rather, acknowledging how things can play out.

(Self-typed Si/Ti) I agree with you, but I think a bit what you said about Si applies to all introverted functions. If they're pointed in the wrong direction, everything goes wrong, because they're so focused and personal. I see this in Ni people, for instance, they're often absolutely sure about their worldviews and they see the same pattern everywhere but they close their eyes when the pattern don't align to the facts. With Ti I see the same thing, they have their truth, the things they already proved to themselves, things that work for them, but they don't look at the other people to check if these things are valuable to everyone. Same thing to Fi with their personal values...

Ok confusing as a first timer watching your video because I see a clip of a man and woman and the title is infj and estj and I think I'm going to see the difference in relationship between these two yet I see interviews with an actor with no idea who is suppose to have what personality. Maybe change the title? I'm so confused.

@@oscarl.3563 On the other hand, notice that it goes both ways and NFs would feel the same way about you. In fact, it explains why there is so much miscommunication in the world.
To NFs, what matters is what they learnt, what was the lesson. Details and sensory for them are not important and they will zone out when you give them too many, because if there is no reason for them to learn the details, why would they? In their mind they want to understand you, not what you went through. They want skip what is useless to them, and learn something from your experience. To NFs, STs can sound like they are reading a report, which feels superficial to them and devoid of any meaning.
Btw, I am not an NF, just explaining their point of view.

    • @RafaelAndNavid
      @RafaelAndNavid Před 2 lety +1

In Extraverted types, (E Types), their dominant/leading functions are Extraverted; In I types, it’s the opposite. Also, the J-P dichotomy tells us the first Extraverted function (dominant if you’re an Extravert, auxiliary if you’re an Introvert). So if you’re a P type, your first Extraverted function is perceiving/observing, and if you’re a J type, your first is judging/deciding.
The two forms of Perceiving/Observing are Sensing (S) and Intuiting (N), so if you’re a P type and an S Type, for example, that means your first Extraverted function is Se.
If you’re a J type and and Thinking (T) type, your first Extraverted function will be Te.
So in the case of ESTJ, we see that they are Extraverted and a Judging type. So their lead function will be an Extraverted, deciding function, and in their case, that means Te, since they are a thinking type.
In the INFJ’s case, they are Introverted, as well as a Judging type. So their Auxiliary function will be deciding and Extraverted. This means they will have Auxiliary Fe since they are feelers.
      Hope that helps.
