it so sad that people today will never realize how great this dude and others were how talented you have to be to make a record dance like atht old school dj best ever shout cash money and eric b grandmaster flash so on and so on
And keep in mind -- this was *decades* before the first mixer with an adjustible fader curve was released. And you hear how clean DJ Jazzy Jeff was doing those transform cuts!
JonDom63 it's possible the mixer mod with hi resistence fader potentiometer. Old school fader more resistance more hard curve for cuts. JAZZY jeff is the Best !
Ah yes - Jazzy Jeff’s groundbreaking transformer cross fader scratch still sounds incredible even after 32 years! A real pioneer and one who was a true inspiration to many deejays including myself when it came to scratch mixing.✌️🌟🤩
I remember having my mind blown hearing the transformer scratch on 'Live at Union Square' and trying to replicate it on my sad 1980's Aiwa midi hi-fi. Totally destroyed the volume slider on it.
@@truthbetold918 In 1986 New Jersey's dj Cheese became the first world DJ champion, nobody ever beat him during that era. But salute to Philly's DJ legends too.

I've been around some of the best DJs ever that was out in the 80s. Jeff brought a new way of cuttin records. Mr.Magic diceded to have him and Prince do a live concert on WBLS, so the whole country could hear this dude. Didn't no let them down. By far, the best DJ set ever.
Back then and now there ain't none better...he's a beast. That's why at every Hip Hop Honors they always get Jeff. We saw them back around that same time at Club Sensations Brick City Newark, NJ. They put on a great show. Jeff, Fresh Prince and Ready Rock C the Human Lindrum.
Cash was and is better now than Jeff. I liked them both but Cash had the edge as he was completely unpredicatable and more creative and had a better playlist, also a better producer.
@@maccagrabme I don't know the producer part but Cash Money IMO was the better DJ hearing them both being from Philly. Jeff production is tight I think he better than Cash on that tho.
White dude here who got The Willenium album from a bargain bin in 2000 from my mum I used to read books back in England in my bedroom with the album playing, track 7 I think it was with Yo Jeff lets keep it old school pump me up. I later went in to learn to scratch own a pair of technics 1210s mk2s man amazing what a simple little cd did for my life.
The master at work in his prime! Before computers and Serato. That’s another thing that makes this so historically important in the field of DJing! RESPECT! ✊🏾
This is real Dee Jay with no software, no beat matching, and no pre-selected sound effects. A lot of the top DJs in the world today could not pull this off.
I like when he be be transforming on let's dance check-out jazzy Jeff ripa drummers beat at the 4:11 mark when he start transforming that shit sounds crazy
Yeah man!! When the DJ was really doing something. These so called DJ's now are the worst from the radio DJ to the club DJ. All they do is change the song every 10 seconds, now beat blends or anything, they just throw anything on whenever
i like jeff better than Cash, it’s all preference. Cash is a lil too heavy on beat juggling and scratching, where i feel Jeff has a balance of that but also showing off his music selection more
THIS HIP-HOP OF TODAY'S ERA IS PATHETIC AND PURE GARBAGE NOTHING LIKE THE OLDSCHOOL ERA OF REAL HIP-HOP 1980s DJ JAZZY JEFF AND WILL SMITH THE FRESH PRINCE REAL HIP-HOP FOREVER
1987 and he's doing stuff that 95% of DJs today can't do

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WHEN HIP-HOP WAS HIP-HOP shout-out to the real hip-hop ICONS DJ JAZZY JEFF and WILL SMITH THE FRESH PRINCE REAL HIP-HOP

That was probably a Gemini mixer and the cross fader was great for transforming but the fader didnt last long before bleeding.
I think jeff invented the transformer cut. Which is why they made a machine to copy him.
@@dmacktm Jazzy Jeff's cuts were clean as well. Grand Dragon KD was first to put the transformer scratch to wax with Steady B's Bring The Beat Back
Jazzy Jeff was always clean and seamless. Meticulously dope!! I remember seeing him ripping it at the Zanzibar in Newark New Jersey. 1986
I remember this when it originally aired on VIDEO MUSIC BOX. ....still gets me hype.
facts , same place i saw it after school 330pm ch 31 they played for like a month or so thats how dope it was
Yup! I was so hype.
He's been my favorite DJ ever since I saw this on VMB.
Philly stand up for the living legend jazzy jeff
Dj Jeff and DJ Scratch are the nicest in cutting up a record.

If I was forced to choose the greatest DJ of all time, I would choose DJ Jazzy Jeff.
Philly had the top 3 DJ's at that time, Jeff, Cash Money and Miz! All DMC champs.
Terminator X from Public Enemy !

Cash
@@HypnoticHollywood But Cash and Jeff were way ahead technically than Cheese in 1986, just that they didn't enter.
say what you want Will Smith on of the best M.C's back then...not rap but master of ceremonies
He was more than a great live mc...listen to songs like 'Just One Of Those Days', Will was also lyrical. Don't be distracted by his humor.

You people best not forget those djs like dj cheese, and of course the legendary dj cash money
Philly had DJ’s winning DMC’s then💪🏿💪🏿
He was and still is the greatest of all time !!!
There is and will ever be 1 DJ.. And that's Jazzy Jeff
First time I saw him cut live, he cut Rock the Bells into pieces! I never forgot that! Peace!

By the way, that was before crossfaders had adjustable cut in times so for him to be able to transform like that is doubly impressive.
