New fisherman here. I got distracted and went off to do another chore for 20min... When I came back with the video still playing I had a great laugh... "Man, this guy is still going on about floats! ". And I still have over an hour to watch 😂 I don't have many people teaching me in person, so I love all the detail, and my mouth is watering for panfish. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed
First time subscriber and I'm looking it
Outstanding communication skills. Thanks for clearly explaining all the tools and techniques you use daily.
I appreciate that!
I wish i was in that boat!!! Thanks for all your tips. Probably the most thorough video I have ever seen. I will be heading to Northern Wisconsin this week just in time for spawning!
That's awesome and thanks for the kind words, good luck Johnny
Thank you sir, always learn something from your hard work. Keep them coming. 👊😎👍
More to come!
Every video reveals another extreme angler trick which makes my fishing more fun, more successful. Thnx Doug
You bet! Thanks Douglas.
Sometimes confused about what to do or what use I may add
Thank you for the most excellent content.. really helpful i just wish we had fishing like that here in Pittsburgh PA.
Thanks for watching!
Gained a follow very detailed video. Left no questions unanswered.
Awesome, thank you!
Great video Doug. You're awesome. Merry Christmas.
Thanks, you too!
I just figured out, 2 more things that go with this totally awesome video. The little beeds s help protect knot and bobber stop. Keep small rubber bands. When bobber stop fails tie on, trim keep fishing. 2, your slip bobber slide down to jig, when need to fire cast in wind. The bobber and jig together bee line to target . I watched your video because of these problems and figured it out . Could never correct one of your video s, but as I was watching you settled my problem s here unsaid . That dang good video
Thats perfect man, we appreciate you watching, have a great season.
I've been fishing all my life and you just showed me something pretty awesome. Thank you sir!
Great to hear! Thanks for watching and the comments.
Great show learned how to rig thanks so much. Gonna be out in the Hendersonson swamp soon with a few rods slip bobber and jigs
Have fun! thanks for watching
Your videos are really great, learn fishing skills from you! Some of the floats you use are produced by our company! It's such a joy to see them!
Glad you enjoyed them, congrats, which floats do you produce?
Really great information and some huge slabs !
Glad it was helpful! We appreciate you watching and your comments.
Thanks for another save worthy lesson Carl. Sometimes instead of a split shot I will tie on a quality BB swivel and a bead. The fish don't mind the sound and I've boated more than the fisherman next to me. It's my go to presentation for bluegills that tend to circle on their way up.
yes, we do that a lot as well in case the bottom of the slip float gets stuck into the jig head line tie, very frustrating, so the bead works very well, thanks for the comments

Lookin' fwd to the 4C episode, catch, clean, cook, & chomp.
yes sir.
Thank you for the tips making us better fishermen
Any time! Thanks for subbing and watching our videos.
AWESOME Video man! Very helpful. New Sub from Hoosierland.
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video thanks 😊
You’re welcome 😊 Hope you sub to our channel, thanks for watching.
I love using thill bobbers and green/chartreuse crappie magnets and bubblegum trout magnets
If it works for you, use it Travis, thanks for watching.
Another lubricating trick I do, especially when in the field, is to keep some chap-stick or a stick of coco-butter in the tackle box. I also used hand soap and end of container deoderant. They all lubricate very well for tube jig rigging. I can't forget the best way I found is applying scent attract inside the tube jig to insert easier for double the chance of a fish holding on longer.
Great tip!
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
It's nice to sit back and watch how the Pros do it. I discovered an interesting trick when fishing brush, which helps from losing setups or disturbing a hot spot. By not adding a split-shot above the jig, the bobber will settle on the jig eye, which together, makes a compact package to accurately pitch cast to my target. After the bobber and jig hits the target, only then does the jig sink vertically into the strike zone.
Thanks for sharing!
Grew up on cooks bay . I loved crappies ,millers bait shop would set me up with exactly what I needed as a 7-8year kid . His shop is long gone.
Yea that was a long time ago, good memories for sure, used to go to Millers bait shop, seems like a LONG time ago now eh, thanks for watching.
it looks great
all this works fine for clear natural northern lakes whole other story in a man-made dirty southern lake that doesn't have weeds. down here in Oklahoma it's all about getting into the thickest nastiest brush you can find...try pitching one of those into the top of a blow down tree and see how many times it wraps around a limb...
Yes, we fished that way on Rend Lake IL as well, thick, nasty stuff with bladed jigs. Each location is different and being versatile is key is why we produce content such as this for float fishing. Single pole jigging is one of our fav ways to fish crappie, wish we had more blow downs and dirty water.
Great stuff
Much appreciated, thanks for watching
When using a slip bobber, in a windy day, jig and lure may not sink because tension on line, in this case, do you use heavier weight and bigger bobber? Especially fishing from shore, you need to cast far and can not change cast direction much. Thanks a lot, great informative video.
Absolutely, heavier jig and bigger bobber, use the wind to move the bait, triggers bites too!
Awesome! Crappie King !
Thanks 👍
Great video! Very informative! I read in the comments you like to use 3/4” northland ovals. What size do you like to use with the pencil with minnows?
That is correct, as thin as possible a float, slender designs work great in calm conditions.
Love slip bobbers so many applications
Agreed 100%
This was an excellent video! I enjoyed it.
My question would be which size Northland Lite oval size do you recommend for crappie fishing? I have the 3/4, 7/8 and the 1 inch sizes.
I use the 3/4 size a lot fyi, thanks for asking and watching
@@ExtremeAnglerTV Thank you!
I find most slip floats have an insert that the lines goes through that has a small diameter. I find on windy days the line doesn,t go through this hole easily. So I remove it, and put a bead on top of the float. Works much better. Also braided fishing line doesn't slide through the insert hole after it becomes worn. Removing the insert solves this problem.
Great tips thanks very much
I tight line as much as possible for a better hook up but a float comes in handy when the wind is blowing for sure
fore sure, thanks for watching
have you done any videos for people like me that do not have a boat what we should look for to find crappie I live in Niagara Falls any sugestions of areas to fish and what season
thanks for asking John, we will work on that next year and post our results. Grand river has good crappie as does lake erie in the canals
Have used the springs for 20 years never had a problem and I don't get lazy just use it properly but I understand the concept use what works for you especially if the manufacturer is giving them to you free
We appreciate your watch time Kevin and comments, but we do buy our own slip floats, honestly we do. Spring floats do work, but too many guys slide the floats up & down the line and that's what causes the line damages as you know.
I'd like to see you use a Spring bobber to fish 10 feet down. And your rudeness is a weak imitation of strength.
Those rubber bobber stopper are the worse for smaller eyelets. I use the braid bobber stopper on straws instead.
Agree, but they are far better then the tied on ones that slip all the time, appreciate your comments.
Good job
Thanks Darlene, appreciate your watch time.
Man I gotta come fish Ontario 9 hour drive from Detroit. Every time you bring in a big slab I close my eyes, rub my head and close my eyes lol
That's awesome, we appreciate your watching our videos.
Put a small swivel at the bottom of the spring bobber with a piece of heat shrink tube to make it a good slip float.
thanks.
With the line running through the swivel at the bottom there is less resistance in the water on hooks etc than a float that has the line through the stem.
Hey love your videos can you do another video on those poppy jigs I had bought some and I love them. People need to hear more about them.
Sure thing!
*Phone trills* _"HI honey, I'm on my way home. Make sure you have plenty of corn meal and frying oil. Bye."_
That's awesome, thanks.
Good video
Glad you enjoyed
dang good net man
I use the foam type, long lasting and work good
They do work well, thanks for the watch time.
I have used a small tree branch or twig as a bobber before
Now that is cool, thx.
I find that the Northland Lite Bite floats are hard on my fluoro leaders (I use anything from 4 to 10 pound). The brass insert at the top seems to damage the line; I need to cut the damaged section off below the bobber stop after 10 or 20 casts at most. Do you have that problem?
usually the brass insert helps things smooth? I would check the brass inserts before attaching to the line in case they are damaged in the package, I have to be honest, we have had the same thing happen but on very rare occasions, guessing it is when they are inserted at the manu. stage, nothing is perfect, even the crafted steelhead floats that cost a lot more $ get banged up at the bottom of the float stem from rubbing against the split shot or jig head line tie if your catching a lot of fish and it rubs against the lead, frustrating but worth the effort. Check before tying, thx for the comments.
What is the name of those bobber stoppers and where did you get them from? Thanks.
they are Eagle Claw bargain basement brands but work great, available at all big box stores and online
I took the springs off all my floats and cut the shaft, then drilled a hole in the shaft and made them slip floats.. I lost a nice crappie a week ago due to the spring cutting my line.,,.
Cool stuff, thanks for the comments and tips.
What size pencil float would you recommend? 3/8" or 1/2"
Using 1/16 oz jigs.
If the conditions are not wavy I would use the 3/8" Glenn
Do you need the split shot on the line if your using a 1/16 jig head?
I would
Any issues with the bobber stop going through the line eyes on the rod?
None at all, if we did then we would use the soft nylon style that you tie onto the line and slip the tag ends. Thanks for watching.
What brand are the tan fishing pants that you wear on your videos?
FB ads feature these and on amazon
Do you need the split shot if your using a 1/16 jig head?
Yes depending on wind and if the jig slides freely
I know you always show fishing out of a boat but can you show a video on fishing off the bank because I don't have a boat
Sure thing Duane, we will try that this year.
What holds that marker bouy in place
It has a weight system tied to the string which allows the marker to stay stationary at almost any depth we fish.
What is the name of the slip floats your using and where did you purchase them from?
We use Northland Tackle, Raven and Eagle Claw slip floats and sometimes the balsa ones from Redwing Tackle called Blackbird floats.
I would love to see a bass lure shaped like a crappie or as we say in the south a speck
I am sure somebody has made some somewhere, bass sure do love the crappie!
early may and no ice on your lake? how do you tell male from female? Minnesota, we'll still have ice.
Females get that little bulge in the middle and ice is melting as we speak.
Sir.. what’s the weight of your line that you recommend?
I would suggest 4-6 lb test depending on the cover or structure as well as the size of the crappie you are fishing.
Do you do guided trips are you from the New York area
Sorry we do not. Thanks for watching
How are you keeping the boat in position?
Power pole anchors keep my boat in position.
nice video on bobbers and bobbers stops I use bobbers stops under my sankers also cause I've lost fish by crippen my sankers line breaks my brother uses bullet weights with bobber stops
Thanks for the comments james.
Hi from Rolla MO 🎣🤠 Dave. I use a scrap of line with a loop knot about a foot long slipped into the second button of my shirt. I put the removable split shots 3or4 on the line and when I need one I pull off one and reopen the split shots and it's already pregroved. So it doesn't smash your fishing line and weaken it, works great 👍🎣
How about some info on the rods you were using
The poles are from BnM- Here is the link to the rods-www.bnmpoles.com/collections/fishing-poles/all-purpose
@@ExtremeAnglerTV thank you for the info
How do you know what depth to fish from the bank?
Depends on depth you are fishing and depth the fish are positioned, altering float depths will help you locate the fish.
Thanks!!!
I like stans slip bobber
What’s the line best for crappie and how many lbs test Sir.
Nick, we like the stuff made by Gamma Fishing, here is the link to the stuff we use-gammafishing.com/collections/fishing-line
4# is good
Are you slip Float all the time I got tired of cut line with bobers
Yes sir
Check out the water bobber slip floats, changed the game for me. It's basically a bobber dogging setup
Right on, thanks for the suggestion.
@@ExtremeAnglerTV anytime. You can go as far as adding sand and having a sinking bobber, it's just a very versatile tool. And it's hard to beat getting to tightline with a bobber. Enjoyed the video
What sizes floats you never really said
When its calm I like to use the slender steelhead style #3 I think they call them as well as the Northland 1/2" circular style, when its choppy or I am making long casts to fish then I will use the 3/4" Northland styles.
I have now found a lake around here with crappy
Fish on buddy.
What state you fishing in
We are in Ontario Canada Billy.
Do you use a weighted slip float?
Yes, we use them a lot
I bought those Eagle claw stoppers you displayed in your video. I bought the 2-4 lb test and 4-8 lb. Are they suppose to be that tiny?
@@ExtremeAnglerTV I bought the bobber stopper by Eagle Claw 2-4 lb test and 4-8 lb. Do they suppose to be real tiny? I enjoy your videos.
Yes, they are tiny but work great with the lighter lines we use for crappie. Thanks very much for watching.
I still like crappie fishing with a cane pole
I get it, yea its a lot easier and still catches a tone of fish, thanks for watching.
Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats czcams.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
😂😂😂😂 I only use The Barbers you said please don't use and i do just fine
We understand, everybody has their own fav's, glad you're catching & thx for watching our videos.
29:29 i couldnt have said it any better myself 🌿💨
Thanks for watching
I caught big crappy on just regular bobbers rite from the bank.
Congrats and thanks for watching our videos.
For sure they are not very good, but crappie is a little harsh.
Thanks for watching.
Well one off the first video that someone doesn't mention Livescope😅.
What's that? lol, appreciate the watch time and comments.
I catch fish with a stick for my bobber ❤.
Very popular technique.

Cows, fish, chicken, war... Males always pays the bill!
I don't know man, you making it look too easy...you sure you didn't pay them fish off...how much money you give'em? lol
We have not paid them yet, but some days I wish I could to make them bite.
Have you ever caught a crappie on a dead minnow
Plenty, but yea, they love the wiggling tails of live minnows don't they.
@@ExtremeAnglerTV the method I use for a dead minnow is retrieving the line slowly and bump it so the minnow will move.
🤦
Pay attention to your volume! You were muted during much of it! You ruined a very informative video!
Noted!
You pinpoint your crappie because you have a fish finder.
yes most do
Total disagreement .Crappie easiest fish to catch with almost any bait especially when your the only boat on the water in a place with no fishing pressure
Everyone has their own opinions, appreciate your watching.
Is that why you catch bullheads?
Don't be so lazy.....pull the spring up and you wont scrape the line
Not a chance, springs are the lazy way to heartache, every line gets damaged by springs anyway you slice it.
I have a float question to you have you or do you use Mick Thill TG Waggler floats i would like you opinion on that style if float. Thank you for your time. I due respect all your knowledge on crappie fishing.
Thanks for the comments and support, we do not use the Thill style, the Northland, Raven floats work great for us, thanks for your watch time as well.
The mini shy bite by thill is awesome for small jigs, they make a crappie sliding float if you want to go deeper
I wrap my line on spring floats
Yup, they can be a headache at times.
@@ExtremeAnglerTV just don't want them to slip
