- We will go over 4-5 types of Slip Bobber Stoppers in this video. How to use each them and what are the pros/cons to fishing each of them. No Bobber Stopper is perfect and everyone seems to have a strong opinion on just about all of these. So all I can say, it that this is just my opinion and some of my experiences on what I like and dislike about each of these. Feel free to chime in and help educate us all on some tricks you may have!

This has to be the best slip stopper video ever! I thought there was only one, the thick string one, now I learned there are other choices and I even purchased some of those rubber stoppers too. He is such a good, thorough teacher, I had to subscribe! Thank you sir!

I find that moistening the yarn style knot with saliva or lake water allows it to be tightened more and a little bit smaller. It still loosens over time. I do like the bone (gizmo) style knot and if it is too loose for your line, hold two knots together still only using 4 holes and works great.

Great tutorial. I use the rubber ones exclusively. I've found that with 4lb test it gets snagged on the line on the spool sometimes when fishing deep. And also gets caught in the first eye of my ACC Crappie Stix 6'6" rods which have a unique first eye that is both big and small. Not sure what they call it but it attempts to stabilize the line at the first eye. It's like a cone. BTW you can actually reuse the rubber stops if you're a cheapskate like me. Cut a section of line off with the stop on it and open the loop back up on the "key ring" and you can tie a knot on the loop with your line and pop them back into the wire. Sometimes I simply keep the section of line with the rubber stops on it and accumulate them in a small Ziploc. When I need one I can tie and overhand knot on both lines and slide it back onto the line I'm fishing with. Often I just leave it on the line when switching to a jig without a bobber and slide it down to my barrel swivel at my leader line and leave it there until I switch back to the slip bobber.
I have seen that trick to reuse the stoppers. But I always forget to use it!
You're referring to the American Tackle Microwave guides on the ACC sticks. I have it on my panfish rod as well. It's supposed to stabilize the line on spinning reels to increase casting distance.

Only problem I foresee with the gizmos is that they need to be threaded all the way up the line from the end, like the rubber stops. If you're running deep under the bobber, that could be a pain.
I use braid for my main line - the fabric ones work in that they don't get cut (vs. the rubber ones) when you slide them on your line

Use the same mono line to tie the bobber stop as used on the reel. A 10lb piece of mono works great on your 10lb mono already on your reel. It holds well and stays tight. It also goes through smaller eyes quite well and no ice build up.

Just started using slip floats and I don't know how I've fished my whole life without using them! I've only tried the little rubber football shaped ones so far. from videos I've watched I can't see a reason to try others yet. Although, I do have some yarn ones to try on a catfish rig I was watching a guy use the other day.

Great video. Exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been trying to use a bobber stopper with a bigger salt water float over structure in the bay but the stopper slipped badly putting my bait on the bottom anyway.

The rubber stoppers work great on braided line.

Just began this system....if you buy from amazon.....and you buy the bulk stops.........looking at the rubber stops..........are they less quality?
Try a rubber band. Works well too. I have the Gizmo on my 10lbs braided line.

will the bead go through the guides and onto the spool? I don't understand the purpose of the bead because it seems like it limits you to depths only equal to twice your rod length
Bead slides down with the float when casting. It keeps the stopper from sliding through the float. If the stopper is larger than the floats tube, then you don’t have to have to use the bead.

I’m shocked that lubricated floss slides easily on the line. Maybe because it’s lubricated but I’m no expert 😂. All kidding aside this is a very informative video.

Drop of glue on the Thill ropes works pretty good. Definitely the Decoy rubber sinker stops on or slightly above the leader if fishing shallow.

I actually dab a little bit of superglue on the yarn knot. Less chance for it get loose on you.

What size of bead?
Beads come with the packs of stoppers. Not sure on the size? 4mm would be my guess

Fly tyers can use the round silicone rubber legs used on certain types of flies, tied in a uniknot, and it will not slip, is very small, will go through tiny rod guides and is the best I have ever used. Try it out, the silicone round rubber leg material is cheap and last you a long time.
