In Megaforce, Jake was the strong and Noah the smart, in Super Mega Noah was both strong and smart and Jake was comic relief I know that is because of Sentai footage but It is really hard to chew

Actually, Jake's actor's explanation with "soil to tree" kinda makes sense to me; Think about it: Jake's elemental/terrain based powers as MegaForce Black Ranger was LAND, Earth and Rock. Soil giving way for a tree to grow seems like a really deep and metaphorical way to describe the color change from Black to Green. Also, at least some of the past Green Ranger Powers that he would have had access to from the SuperMegaForce Powers had some form of Forest/Nature-Based elementally aligned powers; Case-and-Point: MysticForce Green Ranger "Strong as a tree" Do I think it's THE most definitive answer... No. But I can see the logic and admire how deep and symbolic it is.

There is a simple explanation for that. Gosei designed the super mega suits and when he got to the megaforce black suit he realized he made a mistake making the suit background black for the others.

Dude In goseiger there was the green ranger but only in flashback, but everything is resolved to the fact that they did not want to waste the sentai footage, it was only due to lack of time and budget
If they’re dead set on adapting both of the sentei show in a single season, It probably be much better if they would just have two different teams altogether. With the pirates teams being badass Anti-hero sore of team(like there sentai version!)

Zack get also a green Zord but no explain because they use differnt sentai but want use the mppr suits and they had a green Ranger with Tommy!
My headcanon has always been that when Tommy went evil in MMPR, he corrupted the green section of the morphing grid causing it to come out as black sometimes. There's probably a million reasons why that doesn't make sense, but I'm sticking with that.
Here's my theory tommy share his green ranger powers with Zack the black ranger as well as Jason that may have caused a link of the powers or like a glitch in the grind. Because ironically he later becomes a red and black rangers later
I mean, it could've been better if they started with the Super Megaforce powers and the next season with the Megaforce powers, and made them as a combinations of all the powers through history But yeah, skipping over when the Gokaiger powers morphed into the Gosieger powers
The soil analogy is kind of entertaining to think about because in the Sentai, Gosei Black had the element of earth which relates to soil; then again, Jake didn't really have much character growth so it's not an accurate metaphor. If we did actually get an explanation, I hope Gosei Green would be used to tie into the transition from Black to Green, like if the green Megaforce powers were damaged in a flashback and got revived with the Super Megaforce morphers.
I also think it’s odd that some of the Legendary Ranger Modes had little-to-no utilization. Like Troy is the only one who used Operation Overdrive, and if you count a certain extended version of the “Legendary” Battle, Noah is the only one who used Lightspeed Rescue. Samurai, SPD, RPM, and Jungle Fury were used a lot, and while I love all of those seasons, they probably could’ve been sidelined just a bit to give some other teams some spotlight.
Lost galaxy was used one time and ninja storm was only used by troy an most of the team's we know had sentai episodes but time wasn't put into it .its a shame

I could honestly see a Power Rangers show where the rangers search for the lost Power Rangers keys. The first ranger keys would obviously be the original team, and in future episodes, more Power Keys would be found in later episodes.
So this is my theory. So if we take a look at Goseiger we noticed that Goseiger originally had a green ranger gosei green who got killed off in the first episode but we'll ignore that fact for now. And so looking at gosei green i believe that the green super megaforce key was originally meant for whoever weilded the gosei/megaforce green powers however since they never added gosei green to megaforce they just decided eh lets give these powers to Jake in hopes no one would notice the unexplained color swap.
Super Megaforce should have been about the Rangers traveling through time and/or alternate dimensions to meet past teams or different "legacy" teams. I was into the source material of Gokaiger and the pirate theme, and I thought maybe that a team that is basically space/time traveling pirates would have been a cool idea since it could bring in older cast members as well as serve as an introduction to some of the older series that were never localized.
I think the explanation is that the super megaforce powers weren't ment to go to the megaforce team, and to a separate one later down the road. But due to the armada being a lot larger than originally thought the powers had to be given to the megaforce rangers.
What they also messed up is that Jake's body language and fighting style were never consistent. The way they used sentai footage was really bad. You have Gosei Black, a hot blooded skilled fighter and Gokai green, who's a giant goofball (which is OK because he is written and conceptualized to be one) . It's like Jake forgets all of his fighting experience once he goes supermega-mode. That is the most annoying part for me.
Yep. He’s arguably the best fighter on the team then when he upgrades he becomes the team klutz. It’s like a character going from dragon ball one season then suddenly turning into ash Ketchum the next.
Actually he was saving his partner GoseiBlue. Still, at the end of Megaforce, they could've had Jake lose his powers aand Noah give him the Green ones he had saved in the transformation card.
I really hate how the comics would only focus on mmpr, i wish that they would at least do a small sub story at the end of each comic to explain certain lore more better especially with megaforce. they could also do the same with other seasons and do specials where it focuses on different teams and somehow bring in pre zyuranger teams but sadly they don't
Let's all agree that "Megaforce/ Super Megaforce" was the worst Legacy Season ever and it was a mistake from Saban. Saban should have skipped Goseiger, and adapted just Gokaiger. Considering that Gokaiger was the real anniversary season of the Super Sentai Franchise.
Or just, you know, adapted Goseiger for what it was and then done Gokaiger. I think that the contrast between the two teams could have been a great dynamic
How is this even a mystery? Jake obviously got new powers that made him a green ranger, just like Adam going from black to green in Zeo, and Carlos going from green to black in Space, and Tommy going from green to white, to red, to black.
In the 199 Heroes Great Battle movie, the Black Cross King (or the Black Cross Fuhrer ) stole the keys and animate them to fight against both Goseigers and Gokaigers. Moune argued it made them look like the villains going against the past sentai rangers. Joe didn't care saying they're Pirates anyway. But Agri disputed they're Angels on the other hand. I quickly recall this scene while seeing the argument of Angels turning to Pirates hahaha

Namely that there were more green rangers than black rangers, in power rangers the number is nearly even though there was one more green ranger. Your theory also holds water as in lost galaxy the black psycho ranger went after the green ranger without complaining so their powers are probably very similar
Mighty Morphin at least tried to tie the Dinosaur, Chinese Mythos and Japanese ninjas together. Megaforce just turns angels into pirates without tying them together...
To be fair, it's not like they're that interchangable, MMPR stuck with the dino suits all the way until they can't anymore Now we have a divine looking team that uses cards suddenly turning into key-turning pirates, plus they switched fighting styles and personality suddenly...

Literally all the producers had to do was have gosei say “unfortunately your black powers were heavily damaged in last attack, and cannot sustain the new power given, to save you we had to transfer most of your ranger energy to the green mega force key”. Power Rangers adapt some footage from super sentai series. Since, in both super sentai series they have different rangers power rangers mega force has to adapt that too. Otherwise they can't use super sentai footage and they have to use all of their own. I think that was the simple explaination gosei was about to give before attack.
Hopefully Boom! Studios comics addresses this in some capacity. They are literally making the Dai Rainger team canonically the Morphin Master’s aka first team of ancient power rangers. Boom! Studios does not shy away from using past Super Sentai teams and bringing them into the story to flesh out the lore. Even the Green Psycho Ranger was once a Power Ranger from an unused Super Sentai team. It’d be cool if the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger team was a galactic version of the Operation Overdrive team that somehow got lost or disappeared on Earth and Gosei acquired their powers somehow which would explain why he got the powers or Gosei was a Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger member himself.
They could say that every Power Ranger team has a basic grid and one of the slots has either for Black or Green energy. They could say that the remains of the Green Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were somehow connected or transferred to the Black Mighty Morphin Ranger (there was an episode when the Black Ranger had the Green Rangers shield) and somehow it connected those two aspects of every ranger team in the grid. They could say that in the original team of the pirates.. or collector of the PR powers, the green ranger went rouge and managed to obtain the green ranger powers. That's why they are intertwined. They could say that the green ranger powers are somehow dark (again referring to MMPR) and the black ranger powers had to be connected with them to balanced the energies out or some kind of heroic sacrifice had to be made. Only the black ranger could do it because of the nature / symbolism of the colour, being on the border separating good from dark energies. Something in that direction.
You know it would be cool to discuss is the connection between the galactabeasts and the quasar sabers and whether or not there are three more quasar sabers for the Phoenix, rhino, and shark

Well, the fact that the Black Ranger became the Green Ranger also worried me at first, but when I saw that Adam from the Black Ranger became the Green Ranger, I wasn't so worried anymore, and this is an adaptation of Super Sentai, and my favorite Sentai so my questions almost disappeared even more, but it was interesting to find out the plot reason now.
I'd also say that Orion would also be Gosei Green and Gokai Silver to mirror Mighty Morphin and Zeo, Turbo and In Space. Heck, at least the magis' powers would be spared in the power rangers ideas. (Orion would be "Cheerfulness of the Cosmic Dolphin, Megaforce Green!")
They screwed up by putting two different seasons in one. They were not supposed to be the same characters. On the original, japanese, they even fight each other. The two teams - "MegaForce and SuperMegaForce."
megaforce and super megaforce, Tensou Sentai Goseiger (Megaforce counterpart) actually had a hidden 6th ranger, a green ranger that only appeared in a couple of the sentai episodes, which had they fresh filmed goseiger, they could of had jake as the green ranger
My head cannon explanation is that the pirate keys are actually from Gosei's team, similar to Zodorn in the 2017 Power Rangers movie but didn't tell the Megaforce rangers about it as he feared they'd lose confidence in his "leadership" as he's trying to live up to Zordorn's legacy.
Another head cannon for the black and green switch is that those 2 colours are the hardest for the morphin grid to manifest, hence they alternate between the two but once in a blue moon, they overlap, hence we get RPM and Dino Fury.
Well In goseiger they DID had a green ranger that died saving the blue ranger. They could have use that ranger as an excuse and written as that the green morpher was destroyed in the fight but Gosei had already made a green super mega force morpher so he just decided to give that to Jake since theirs is no time to switch up since theirs an invasion.
I heard an explanation on deviantart saying it technically wasn't the key that was the wrong color it was actually Jake's megaforce suit cause when the megaforce suits were first created the main team had the colors red, blue, yellow, pink and green but the green powers were lost so gosei gave Jake the spare black ranger's powers instead and gosei said the reason why there wasn't a spare black ranger powers for the super mega series was because there wasn't enough energy to make six of them for the mega mode series
It would've made sense for Jake to switch from the black megaforce ranger to the blue "super" megaforce ranger. Seeing that gokaiger greens fighting style in the japanese versions footage was playfully tricky but clumsy, whereas "Joe" (gokaiger blue) fought with brute strength and precision which is what jakes fighting style somewhat falls into. Not to mention Noah is a brainy, geeky type which wouldve lined up much better with Don("Doc" Green Gokaiger)
Black and Green is usually the colors of the core five Rangers. So Jake original powers being black and his Super Mega Mode power is green symbolizes that.

The Green and Black forms seems to be interchangable with each team, with the exception of MMPR, with black as number 5 and green as number 6. I assume the colours the team uses are based on the team theme, so when the Grid creates the suits, the theme dictates the colours, the default colours being: Red, Blue, Pink and Yellow, then from that decided the fifth colour, depending on the basic suit colour (since Mega Force used mostly primary colours as the suit colour with white and gold, so black a good choice, with green being a possible 6th Ranger, like MMPR. Like: if Zordon received a military based Power Rangers Team uniform from the Grid, then it most likely be a camoflague design of the primary/unique (Red/Blue/Yellow/Pink) colours and a secondary colour, with that colour dictating if we get black or green Rangers. Now since the SMF suits are mainly black with a coat of their unique colours, black is not the best choice, so green it was. That's the explanation, both for design and in universe. The Pirate team should have been a separate team like in the Sentai, the Mega Forms team should have been captured or hurt badly enough to be unable to take part in future battles, until the Untimate Team Up (and it gives us a break from the cringe acting from the Troy actor), leaving Gosai to summon a new team.
@@togapika Like I said with MMPR, they could have both colours because of the suit colour design scheme. RPM Black is mostly one solid colour, black, like RPM Series Operator Green is mostly solid green, excluding silver and gold parts of the main suit along with the white gloves, their boots are the colour of the operator, so for Ziggy it's Green boots and Dillon it's Black boots. You can take the above and apply it to any Ranger Team with a solid colour outfit with the small addition of another colour, like MMPR who have a base solid colour and white diamond pattern. Now Unlike SMF who's base outfit (before the coats and helms) are black in colour and thus would make it hard to have a Black Ranger. You can take SMF base colour and apply it to the other Ranger Teams. However it's not a perfect explanation as some teams favoured one colour over the other and it could be also down to the theme. As Light Speed had Green only even though they a design style similar to MMPR. A possible theory could be: Theme+base colour=the 5th Ranger colour. Which is possible as not many Rangers are White either, there are 6 White Rangers, and many team suits employ some white in the schemes.
Black morphing energy & green morphing energy operate on similar wavelengths. This is also why the Black Psycho Ranger was ok with fighting the Green Galaxy Ranger.

The morphing grid complicated. Depending on how it is accessed different colored teams are created. Some parts of the grid are very stable like Red Blue and Yellow, While colors like Green Pink Black and white are slightly less so meaning they might not always show up or sometimes become interchangeable. Other More rare colors such as Purple Orange and Aqua would be be the least stable and hardest to access. Gold and Silver are Very Stable but require something special to access, which is why you most often see them as Very Powerful 6th Rangers.

My headcanon has always been that when Tommy went evil in MMPR, he corrupted the green section of the morphing grid causing it to come out as black sometimes. There's probably a million reasons why that doesn't make sense, but I'm sticking with that.

Here's my theory tommy share his green ranger powers with Zack the black ranger as well as Jason that may have caused a link of the powers or like a glitch in the grind. Because ironically he later becomes a red and black rangers later

The soil analogy is kind of entertaining to think about because in the Sentai, Gosei Black had the element of earth which relates to soil; then again, Jake didn't really have much character growth so it's not an accurate metaphor. If we did actually get an explanation, I hope Gosei Green would be used to tie into the transition from Black to Green, like if the green Megaforce powers were damaged in a flashback and got revived with the Super Megaforce morphers.
I also think it’s odd that some of the Legendary Ranger Modes had little-to-no utilization.
Like Troy is the only one who used Operation Overdrive, and if you count a certain extended version of the “Legendary” Battle, Noah is the only one who used Lightspeed Rescue.
Samurai, SPD, RPM, and Jungle Fury were used a lot, and while I love all of those seasons, they probably could’ve been sidelined just a bit to give some other teams some spotlight.
Lost galaxy was used one time and ninja storm was only used by troy an most of the team's we know had sentai episodes but time wasn't put into it .its a shame

So this is my theory. So if we take a look at Goseiger we noticed that Goseiger originally had a green ranger gosei green who got killed off in the first episode but we'll ignore that fact for now. And so looking at gosei green i believe that the green super megaforce key was originally meant for whoever weilded the gosei/megaforce green powers however since they never added gosei green to megaforce they just decided eh lets give these powers to Jake in hopes no one would notice the unexplained color swap.
Super Megaforce should have been about the Rangers traveling through time and/or alternate dimensions to meet past teams or different "legacy" teams. I was into the source material of Gokaiger and the pirate theme, and I thought maybe that a team that is basically space/time traveling pirates would have been a cool idea since it could bring in older cast members as well as serve as an introduction to some of the older series that were never localized.
I read somewhere years ago that Saban was contractually obliged to adapt goseiger if they wanted to adapt gosaiger.

I think the explanation is that the super megaforce powers weren't ment to go to the megaforce team, and to a separate one later down the road. But due to the armada being a lot larger than originally thought the powers had to be given to the megaforce rangers.
What they also messed up is that Jake's body language and fighting style were never consistent. The way they used sentai footage was really bad. You have Gosei Black, a hot blooded skilled fighter and Gokai green, who's a giant goofball (which is OK because he is written and conceptualized to be one) . It's like Jake forgets all of his fighting experience once he goes supermega-mode. That is the most annoying part for me.
Yep. He’s arguably the best fighter on the team then when he upgrades he becomes the team klutz. It’s like a character going from dragon ball one season then suddenly turning into ash Ketchum the next.

I really hate how the comics would only focus on mmpr, i wish that they would at least do a small sub story at the end of each comic to explain certain lore more better especially with megaforce. they could also do the same with other seasons and do specials where it focuses on different teams and somehow bring in pre zyuranger teams but sadly they don't

How is this even a mystery? Jake obviously got new powers that made him a green ranger, just like Adam going from black to green in Zeo, and Carlos going from green to black in Space, and Tommy going from green to white, to red, to black.

In the 199 Heroes Great Battle movie, the Black Cross King (or the Black Cross Fuhrer ) stole the keys and animate them to fight against both Goseigers and Gokaigers. Moune argued it made them look like the villains going against the past sentai rangers. Joe didn't care saying they're Pirates anyway. But Agri disputed they're Angels on the other hand. I quickly recall this scene while seeing the argument of Angels turning to Pirates hahaha
Azim's explanation is a bit farfetched, personally I agree with linkara's explanation even if that relies on sentai stuff more. Namely that there were more green rangers than black rangers, in power rangers the number is nearly even though there was one more green ranger. Your theory also holds water as in lost galaxy the black psycho ranger went after the green ranger without complaining so their powers are probably very similar
Mighty Morphin at least tried to tie the Dinosaur, Chinese Mythos and Japanese ninjas together. Megaforce just turns angels into pirates without tying them together...

At least Adam's transition from Black to green was given a reason in the earlier shows unlike Jake's transition.

This power allow them to have acess to all power even with power never before seen. That way, they can copy word for word from Gokaiger just like he always wanted.

Power Rangers adapt some footage from super sentai series. Since, in both super sentai series they have different rangers power rangers mega force has to adapt that too. Otherwise they can't use super sentai footage and they have to use all of their own. I think that was the simple explaination gosei was about to give before attack.

Hopefully Boom! Studios comics addresses this in some capacity. They are literally making the Dai Rainger team canonically the Morphin Master’s aka first team of ancient power rangers. Boom! Studios does not shy away from using past Super Sentai teams and bringing them into the story to flesh out the lore. Even the Green Psycho Ranger was once a Power Ranger from an unused Super Sentai team.
It’d be cool if the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger team was a galactic version of the Operation Overdrive team that somehow got lost or disappeared on Earth and Gosei acquired their powers somehow which would explain why he got the powers or Gosei was a Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger member himself.
They could say that every Power Ranger team has a basic grid and one of the slots has either for Black or Green energy.
They could say that the remains of the Green Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were somehow connected or transferred to the Black Mighty Morphin Ranger (there was an episode when the Black Ranger had the Green Rangers shield) and somehow it connected those two aspects of every ranger team in the grid.
They could say that in the original team of the pirates.. or collector of the PR powers, the green ranger went rouge and managed to obtain the green ranger powers. That's why they are intertwined.
They could say that the green ranger powers are somehow dark (again referring to MMPR) and the black ranger powers had to be connected with them to balanced the energies out or some kind of heroic sacrifice had to be made. Only the black ranger could do it because of the nature / symbolism of the colour, being on the border separating good from dark energies.
Something in that direction.

Well, the fact that the Black Ranger became the Green Ranger also worried me at first, but when I saw that Adam from the Black Ranger became the Green Ranger, I wasn't so worried anymore, and this is an adaptation of Super Sentai, and my favorite Sentai so my questions almost disappeared even more, but it was interesting to find out the plot reason now.
I'd also say that Orion would also be Gosei Green and Gokai Silver to mirror Mighty Morphin and Zeo, Turbo and In Space.
Heck, at least the magis' powers would be spared in the power rangers ideas. (Orion would be "Cheerfulness of the Cosmic Dolphin, Megaforce Green!")

megaforce and super megaforce, Tensou Sentai Goseiger (Megaforce counterpart) actually had a hidden 6th ranger, a green ranger that only appeared in a couple of the sentai episodes, which had they fresh filmed goseiger, they could of had jake as the green ranger

What backstory?
My head cannon explanation is that the pirate keys are actually from Gosei's team, similar to Zodorn in the 2017 Power Rangers movie but didn't tell the Megaforce rangers about it as he feared they'd lose confidence in his "leadership" as he's trying to live up to Zordorn's legacy.
Another head cannon for the black and green switch is that those 2 colours are the hardest for the morphin grid to manifest, hence they alternate between the two but once in a blue moon, they overlap, hence we get RPM and Dino Fury.
Well In goseiger they DID had a green ranger that died saving the blue ranger. They could have use that ranger as an excuse and written as that the green morpher was destroyed in the fight but Gosei had already made a green super mega force morpher so he just decided to give that to Jake since theirs is no time to switch up since theirs an invasion.
I heard an explanation on deviantart saying it technically wasn't the key that was the wrong color it was actually Jake's megaforce suit cause when the megaforce suits were first created the main team had the colors red, blue, yellow, pink and green but the green powers were lost so gosei gave Jake the spare black ranger's powers instead and gosei said the reason why there wasn't a spare black ranger powers for the super mega series was because there wasn't enough energy to make six of them for the mega mode series
It would've made sense for Jake to switch from the black megaforce ranger to the blue "super" megaforce ranger. Seeing that gokaiger greens fighting style in the japanese versions footage was playfully tricky but clumsy, whereas "Joe" (gokaiger blue) fought with brute strength and precision which is what jakes fighting style somewhat falls into. Not to mention Noah is a brainy, geeky type which wouldve lined up much better with Don("Doc" Green Gokaiger)
Black and Green is usually the colors of the core five Rangers. So Jake original powers being black and his Super Mega Mode power is green symbolizes that.
Saban also should stop reusing their cast so we could get more crossovers

The Green and Black forms seems to be interchangable with each team, with the exception of MMPR, with black as number 5 and green as number 6.
I assume the colours the team uses are based on the team theme, so when the Grid creates the suits, the theme dictates the colours, the default colours being: Red, Blue, Pink and Yellow, then from that decided the fifth colour, depending on the basic suit colour (since Mega Force used mostly primary colours as the suit colour with white and gold, so black a good choice, with green being a possible 6th Ranger, like MMPR.
Like: if Zordon received a military based Power Rangers Team uniform from the Grid, then it most likely be a camoflague design of the primary/unique (Red/Blue/Yellow/Pink) colours and a secondary colour, with that colour dictating if we get black or green Rangers.
Now since the SMF suits are mainly black with a coat of their unique colours, black is not the best choice, so green it was.
That's the explanation, both for design and in universe.
The Pirate team should have been a separate team like in the Sentai, the Mega Forms team should have been captured or hurt badly enough to be unable to take part in future battles, until the Untimate Team Up (and it gives us a break from the cringe acting from the Troy actor), leaving Gosai to summon a new team.
What about RPM? They have black AND green
@@togapika Like I said with MMPR, they could have both colours because of the suit colour design scheme.
RPM Black is mostly one solid colour, black, like RPM Series Operator Green is mostly solid green, excluding silver and gold parts of the main suit along with the white gloves, their boots are the colour of the operator, so for Ziggy it's Green boots and Dillon it's Black boots.
You can take the above and apply it to any Ranger Team with a solid colour outfit with the small addition of another colour, like MMPR who have a base solid colour and white diamond pattern.
Now Unlike SMF who's base outfit (before the coats and helms) are black in colour and thus would make it hard to have a Black Ranger.
You can take SMF base colour and apply it to the other Ranger Teams.
However it's not a perfect explanation as some teams favoured one colour over the other and it could be also down to the theme.
As Light Speed had Green only even though they a design style similar to MMPR.
A possible theory could be: Theme+base colour=the 5th Ranger colour.
Which is possible as not many Rangers are White either, there are 6 White Rangers, and many team suits employ some white in the schemes.
Black morphing energy & green morphing energy operate on similar wavelengths. This is also why the Black Psycho Ranger was ok with fighting the Green Galaxy Ranger.

The morphing grid complicated. Depending on how it is accessed different colored teams are created. Some parts of the grid are very stable like Red Blue and Yellow, While colors like Green Pink Black and white are slightly less so meaning they might not always show up or sometimes become interchangeable. Other More rare colors such as Purple Orange and Aqua would be be the least stable and hardest to access. Gold and Silver are Very Stable but require something special to access, which is why you most often see them as Very Powerful 6th Rangers.
