- Deli Island is a casual, slice of life, cooking game I've been making in Unity for the past year. And in this video I show you all the progress I've managed to make so far.
-About me
Hi, my name is George and I've been creating silly little games ever since I was little, and I've finally decided to try and release a game commercially for the first time. I love to cook and I love to make games, so I thought it would be a great idea to mix them both together. I plan to upload a video every month at the very least. So I hope you'll me join on this crazy adventure to see where it takes us :D.

That is a ton of progress in one year, great job and keep it up!

This is honestly the best indie game project I've seen like this whole year. Keep up this quality and I'm sure you will be one of the few game devs, that actually can make a living with this.
Thank you so much, you have no idea how much that means to me!
@@GeorgeTheDeveloper How'd you do isometric in Unity?
Great job! Game dev is much harder than I thought and I have a lot of appreciation for seemingly “simple” things in some of my favourite games. Good luck with this project.
You're so right, some of the simplest mechanics in a game have so much hard work behind them. Thanks for the kind words!
Honestly the pixel art in this game is mind blowing like HOW it's so good!
You were always telling yourself that and that isn't perfect or that you haven't had much of a progress in that year. But let me tell you, what you have already accomplished yet is very, very impressive and you shouldn't be too harsh on yourself. You have done a great job and it is really amazing how far you have come. Keep it going.
Wow this is seriously amazing, people don't realize how hard game development is, the fact that you already got this much done in a year is outstanding and impressive. You deserve any attention you get.
That's really kind of you to say! Thank you so much!

This game looks amazing. Cannot wait to see where this goes.
Thank you! Really appreciate it!
I love how you give a care on each detail of the game aspect. This is what makes a good game even tho you do not feel you have not done much. Nowadays, I could not find a lot feeling when I play games because it was rush or incomplete. keep it up!
This is great! Would love to see your progress with this as you continue into 2023.
Incredibly inspiring, thanks so much for sharing and good luck! Haven't seen many ppl who do both the art and coding 🙌
wow this is such an awesome project!! i’d love to see more updates on this game in the future!
This is amazing. I love how you made all your assets by yourself. And the style you are using is beautifull
As someone that has started teaching themselves programing and unity, this is actually really cool to see and gives me a ton of motivation to continue. Aldo this is very informative. thank you for this!
It's insane! I loved how you progressed. I loved every single detail. Really great job 🤯❤🔥
What an amazing video and project!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't realise just how accessible starting a game project was, and I've just started this process myself =) literally day 2 of tutorials and messing around on Unity.
Looking forward to keeping up with your journey!!!
Amazing work dude! I'm so excited to see more of your game and your progress!
this looks great, well done for sticking at it for a year, will be following along!
That's some awesome progress! I quit a project because of inventory loading and saving once haha. Keep it up, it's lookin neat :D
Haha, it really is one of the most difficult features to take on when you're a beginner!
Really well done! You did a lot of progress in a years working alone, I was very impressed about the sistem of changing the tileset during the game, I would really love an overview on it! Keep going!
Your artwork is beautiful! Other than that your game has something very polished too it, even the first prototype. I really like that!
That looks awesome, and great progress! I love your art style too, it’s very welcoming!
Super cool man, I appreciate you taking the time to give some insight on what you've learned.
I have a huge respect to isometric game developers (and especially the artists behind them) as they are such a hard thing to get perfect. It's so tough to make every single sprite and animation by hand in a 2D style like this, and I think you did fantastic, good work!
This looks awesome, and I really enjoyed watching the process. Excited to subscribe and keep following this game :)
Oh man, seeing this kinds of devlogs is making me want to go back to learning to as well as learn Unity again.. I got disheartened to go back when I didn't continue it for 1 year because of my job. Great video, clean and easy to understand.
This is really amazing and I can´t wait to see more. Keep it up man :)
Your growth has been amazing and the project is coming along beautifully!
So happy I subscribed to see this game's development and eventual release :D
That's lovely of you to say. Thanks for subbing!
This is so cool, keep the good work and you'll have a really cool game I'd buy. Really cool progress
This is very inspiring. Good work! And good luck with your project.
Great work! A lot of progress indeed. Keep on working like that and you will get to your goal for sure!
I'm subscribing for more updates. As someone who also dabbles with Unity, it's interesting watching your thought process on game design, but mainly... Man I just want to play this game already! Great idea, I think you're onto a winner there.
Lessgo! Great work look forward to seeing more progress :)
Hello!
This is amazing progress! Only one year later and you did a ton of things! A ton of people gave up before arriving at that point. Glad to see you are not one of them.
Great job! Keep it up! I can't wait to see more updates! :)
I really like this game atmosphere, looks really interesting. Subscribed and will follow your work. :) Nice job!
This is very helpful for me. Even though we're in different genres and dimensions, it looks like you've figured out a lot of hurdles with the tile-based, modifiable, isometric system.
I will use this to help guide me in making my own game!
Dude this game looks soo awesome. At first I thought it was just another stardew clone but I really like the direction you're going with it. Appreciate you posting a years worth of progress because it really motivates me to stop being lazy and get back on track with my own game dev projects lol. Best of luck in your project, I'm subscribing to follow the progress!
Awesome awesome work, really inspires me to work on my stuff too.
Really love the art style of your game as well! 😊
this was uploaded on my birthday!!! :D NICE VIDEO
This game is looking amazing! Keep going man. Cant wait to see the final result
That's the plan! Thanks for the kind words!
Bro you´re amazing - I will leave a subscribe!
Looking forward for more :D
Isometric games are hard as heck. Keep up the good work
This was such an awesome video, thank you for sharing your development journey.
The game is looking awesome, well done.
My favorite parts were the shovel system and how this would really allow for great customization, and how cute the season indicator is.
I have a few feedbacks and observations, if you would have them:
- The selector could be a little smaller, it's too thick in heightness.
- I think what's off with the Sakuras is that the branches should arc towards the top, coming a little further down in the trunk.
- I think shadows are a little inconsistent, the sun seems to be either at it's highest or away from the camera.
Great video, nice to see progress and looks so good so far
Great job man, keep the good work!
What an awesome work! Good job!
My years long search for a passionate game developer is now over! Amazing work and even better motivational stamina!
great work man! enjoyed watching
Cool stuff and looks very promising!
Keep up the good work!
Can't wait to learn from your videos ;)
your drawing i.e the shop, is really REALLY really good.. it looks like it took a while, if it didn't you're talented at that.
First video of yours I've seen and I'm so happy to subscribe and see how far you and your game go. Very inspiring! Rsvp Brackeys, so true haha
Great job and congrats man keep at it!!
Great job i really like the art style :)
I have explored your channel today, pls make more videos on this channel we need to hear more game-develop stories that give us more confidence.
Looking good! Definitely want to see how your game develops :)
really cool to see your year progress
Keep up content like this and you’ll grow as a developer and a great CZcamsr in no time, I’m sure! Love the game and the art style. Excited to see where it goes :)
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words!
Great video George, the game I am attempting to create is very similar. the process has been eventful. So far looks great though, keep it up.
Honestly that’s an impressive amount of progress keep it up
this game looks awesome brother! congratulations, I know how is to spend a whole year developing a game I have been there too - You should be very proud of your work :)
Great progress, keep up the good work !
This looks very well done man!
hey! bravo! i look forward to see your progress!
Your game looks incredible! Well done!
This looks so awesome! Also, you split your progress up into manageably sized steps, which is very healthy and important for solo devs. Good job! (The volume of the video was quite low tho, maybe you can make the next video a little louder)
I am currently studying coding at university as i want to be a gamedesigner or developer so i am trying out making a game in unity, it would be so nice to see you make some in depths videos on how some of the features work and are made! Your work is amazing and i am sure you will come very far with your skill
After watching this video I got excited again and felt fresh...🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for sharing this...
❤❤❤
Very nice work. It's funny how different things are more striking for different persons. For example the player actually not having an animation if he uses any of this tools would be the first thing I'd have changed (so that the character actually does something when he, well, does something). I really like the project. It reminds me of Core Keeper, but with a more positive approach to the world's design.
Good stuff man! As a suggestion for "fleshing out" the cooking system, I'd suggest checking out how spiritfarer handles making different objects if you haven't already. Little mini-games for each of the things you're making instead of the Minecraft-esque crafting block might make it more interactive!
Fantastic progress! Keep it up!
Thank you so much!
This is a lot of progress in a year. I would love to know more about your process of learning more about pixel art and Unity
Wow art and game looks really nice
Nice devlog
Really cool progress. i might suggest highlighting the object the player is interacting with with a light stroke or something
looks awesome well done!
Nice work, keep workin man
Nice start to what might be a fun game!
Great vid! One thing though, when you enter the house you should enter at the other side of the door i think.
This looks fantastic. One suggestion I have is for the grass removal. Instead of creating a "grass" item, maybe create grass seed? Or rather, dirt will turn back to grass after x days if left untilled. Great work though, truly.
great vid, you gained an extra sub :D
Thank you! 😁
Love the crafting system! Keep ut up!
I would be happy if I had half your progress in just a year. Great job!
I would love to see more from you!
Your game is gorgeous! Can you do a video on how did you improved in pixel art? What was your learning path like? Good luck and congratulations!
Great video George!
Great job! You got my sub 🎮
Great work!
Great job George.
This is serious work.
Nice progress, continue job and make a good game)
This is so great!! One of the biggest problems with unity there is no isometric systems to start with in unity so every thing has to be made from scratch its just a big pain.. I'm sure your aware of.
Been hoping for years that they might do a basic isometric set up system. But everyone knows how unity has there priorities..
The fact that it has been a year just to get to were you are is just a major accomplishment. Given what you have to work with nice job!!
Very impressive.
The art style is fun. Colours could do with a little pop, 5/10%+ saturation maybe? Trees/grass and needing some movement :D the environment will feel more alive and inviting if you add some dancing to the wind animation :D
Need to add some friendly little bees and butterflies, only a few pixels big give that sense of nature to the player.
Keep cool and keep up the amazing work!
your artstyle is insane
Cool game! it seems to have a lot of potential, keep it up!
Nice to see someone go with 8way direction movement. not many games choose that path these days. I think it adds alot though. I think what you ave done here is a pretty good amount of work for one year. Im making a topdown game myself and have been working on it longer than yourself and some of my systems are far behind yours. Guess I should roll up my sleeves and get working. :) Well at my own pace.
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY
Nice work, looks like it can grow into something cool :)
An absolutely lovely game, the art is great
The game looks gorgeous, but I'm more amazed on how much traction this video made. I mean, you got just one video, 1,4k subs and 58k views... That super impressive for a indie game devlog. I hope I get that well when I lunch my own ^^. Cheers man
Could be nice with a base 8 directional sprite to work from. I really like your character. And your pixel art world in general, really beautiful
I like the iso perspective. It's nice to see a Staredew that's not axis aligned.
You got Talent! It looks beautiful!
Your game looks really pretty!
