    There is one difference from left and from right side in the Video. At 1:20 and 3:25 you can see one different "Changes" before the Bong Sao with the left arm. But... which one ist the correct form? Thanks for your help.

    • @yeshoua7777
      @yeshoua7777 Před 2 lety +1

      It is just a variation, no matter but I think 3:25 is the correct form

    When I watch young Chun lean in on the strike , it makes me wonder . Body position is the exercise and purpose for the dummy. If that’s correct , force can be easily executed.

    Ok, so i'm not a martial artist but i love martial arts, thus why i know how to do some stuff, but can someone explain to me one thing: How does this training with wooden dummy apply to martial arts? I mean, you practice with that wooden dummy and then what? What does it do anyway?

    • @alanbraddick2752
      @alanbraddick2752 Před 3 lety +2

      a dummy is a training aid when you dont have a partner, much like a boxing punch bag, the two top timbers represent our oponents upper arms, middle lower timber is a low punch and the leg at the bottom allows you to move around your oponent and practice your kicks, really you should only start to use the dummy when youve completed the first two wing chun forms :)

      The wooden dummy also is a great training to toughen up. If you r in a real fight no technique will help ya if it hurts ya af. As example blocking with the ellbow is quite painful if you don‘t train it

      So I started playing around with the wooden dummy for about a year now. I've practiced shaolin for many years myself. Listening to feedback from different masters and different lineages of wing chun, mainly the disciples of the late Wong Shun Leung, the wooden dummy is actually an essential tool to teach you everything from angles of attack to negotiating with an opponent's arm that may be in the way of your attack. A few friends and I played with a few techniques and you can actually use the wooden dummy to improve any of your martial arts skills, not just limited to wing chun

    Bruce Lee was right though: "The highest technique is to have no technique."
    My interpretation of that is learn them but then let them go because the mind gets locked into that and when that happens, the mind is no longer free and spontaneity is stifled.
    This dangerous in a real fight because if the opponent fakes an attack and you respond with a technique, you will likely leave yourself vulnerable.
    In my opinion, learn to properly block, parry, kick, punch, evade, attack, and leave it at that. And, as Bruce put it, "your tools will strike at the right time."

    • @arespower
      @arespower  Před rokem +1

      the idea of the dummy is to strengthen these fists and these forearms, we are talking about repeating these block movements and rapid strikes at short range for close body combat, but making movements repeated so many times that it becomes an automatism like a work when you start a work your at an average speed but the more you refine your technique and your movement the faster you are without having to think
