  • We have a walk around England’s most deprived area on the Essex coast. I also venture into the coldest sea I’ve ever been into.

    We had lovely holidays in Jaywick Sands late 1950s ! Chalets were built upon brick piers ! Avenues were named after motor car manufacturers of that period of time, we stayed in Sunbeam Avenue! I used to find all sorts of things like musket balls, fishing weights , fossils, etc when the tide went out, as well as plenty of coins like half crowns, two bob bits, pennies etc, so had plenty of pocket money! Loved it there!

      To reply why the local council failed to improve jaywick since its failed attempt in the high court of london to bulldoze it in 1970, then failed again via an expensive outside design company to bulldoze it in 2006 despite the building of the new part of the estate in the late 1990`s under the - JAYWICK A CHANCE OF A LIFETIME" scheme, our nosey tourists failed on many counts to show all this and more.. Such a biased failed attempt of a trash video no better than the trash TV shows put on/ we seen worst videos but we seen better, but it would seem those commenting HAVE NOT.. We just shrug our shoulders at these failed attempts, as its becoming amusing.. Whats most amusing is the lack of mentioning the big Park Resorts Holiday Camp at the end where I live, hundreds own expensive tin huts of wheels and some live in them most weeks a year but all that goes unknown and unnoticed, the park is now linked via a bridge to its sister park in St.Osyth, all but a stones throw across a dyke where St.Osyth holiday makers drive through one park to reach our park chucking rubbish as they go with a "Not mine NOT taking It Home are We" attitude.. TBH we get the local violia refuse collection along our seawall frequently just to help out those who enjoy our beach but dont want to take home there rubbish/ it happens.

  • @highpath4776
    @highpath4776 Před 2 lety +5

    Jaywick has a charm and the re-tarmacked roads made a difference, It has echos in other East Coast areas such as just south of Grimsby, the planning regulations (or lack thereof) in the 1920/30s gave rise to the bungalow style of building with little services , they were mainly intended as weekend getaways for the city dwellers and workers, replaced by the caravan parks of the areas instead and they became more permanent homes. As long as you have a bus service, a post office and a pub what more do you need ? (Library, Doctor)

    • @travellingeverard4326
      @travellingeverard4326  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes you make a very good point. The other issue with Jaywick, is the fact that a large number of the properties have got into the hands of greedy landlords, who charge large amounts of rent, but provide homes not fit for purpose (in it, to make a quick buck). Hopefully they can provide more services for the local community. Thanks for watching.

    • @ianburit3705
      @ianburit3705 Před 2 lety

      The community pub run by the local TDC councillor has since closed/ no explanation given, but no one has noticed the majority of homes have 8inches of exterior insulation, new double glazing and heat and hot water powered by BORIS`s news of HEAT PUMPS, given its correct name AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS/ although a quietly spoken word of "look they got air conditioning" was forgotten quickly - NO LOVE THERE HEAT PUMPS better than many new builds AND there nearly 100 years old now, made from Canadian tar Pine, the best wood you can buy for construction - 100 years old soon = STILL STANDING and many happily retired residents love them miles away from big cities noise pollution gangs shootings muggings all left behind for nosey tourists to live in daily.

    Many seaside resorts that boomed in the 50's and 60's are now in a poor state.I recall visiting Ramsgate and Margate a few years ago and was very shocked.A once bustling high street had some boarded up shops and a few rough sleepers in the doorways.Not exactly places to recommend for your annual holidays,and even parts of Devon are looking a bit run down nowadays.

The original locals in the 70s and 80s had to fight the TDC to even improve their own homes, this isn't the fault of the wonderful people that lived and some still live their, find out the truth, the TDC didnt help people one bit and still don't help.

      OK lets get the FACTS out for the more slower of com mentors eh.. Back In 1970 the CLACTON urban District Council went to the high court to get Jaywick bulldozed/ THEY FAILED THE COMMUNITY WON, the high court made the council improve services to Jaywick, THE COUNCIL WAS VERY UNHAPPY - LOL.. roll forewords to 2006, The Tendring (name changed by now) District Council employed a very expensive outside company to draw up plans as to what would be best for Brooklands (that prime retail building land everyone wants to build big 3 story flats on) so, this outside company gave us residents 3 basic options, leave it all, just do paths and roads, bulldoze half or bulldoze it all, the residents and resident groups were furious, we packed our community hall, packed the outsides all waiting for the MD of this very expensive council appointed twat to turn up, the councils men were In the hall infront of a very angry crowd AND, the very expensive MD twat ran away rather than face US ALL.. Meeting over - RESULT ?? the local council scored an own goal for the second time now/ Fast forwards a few more years, and by now the local council are crapping themselves as they HAVE GOT TO DO A PRESENTATION in the very same hall for the residents of jaywick, with big wall charts council officers in suits, all standing, all looking very nervous, and gave an outline of there "Proposals" as to what they want to do.. I spoke to them as i knew them being a once community spokesperson, the replied, Ian, this Is an honest way of improving jaywick over MANY YEARS into the future, and its will be a soft approach to it all as its failed too many times before.. OK MORE FACTS.. Back in the 2006 FIASCO it was costed then at £ 75 million pounds (REALLY WAS) as there's many like me that own outright my land, extra plots and buildings on it, you cant just LEGALLY SAY WERE BUILDOZING YOU/ cant be done boyos..Currently the council have purchased empty land, empty plots, had backing to build (get built) the new flood proofed designed 3 story homes on the front line, one block for council residents and one block for private sale.. you see outsiders, nosey tourists all come in from godawful places like Citizen khans London and its suburbs all gawking and looking and dump there trash before they go back home to the madness of London and other brainless places, I should know, as I lived In what now is east London for 40 years, but sold up, made my money, retired at 55 18 happy years ago.. I get FOR FREE what 1000,s of caravan owners pay fortunes for, like nosey tourists pay to drive here for, fresh air sunshine and good beaches.. BYE BYE TOURISTS AND NOSEY WALKERS. Lets show videos of some of Londons trashy estates high rise drug riddled flats eh, but basically NO ONE GETS THE PLAN BY LOCAL COUNCILS WHEN THEY DECLARE A DEPRIVED COMMINTY AS IT GENERATES HUGE GRANTS TO COUNCIL FUNDS, daft or clever idea, it bothers us not, nor do backwards thinking and talking tourists who like TRASH TV programmes ONLY SEEK THE ROUGH in the diamond whats left unseen yet the gullible BELIEVE IT ALL.. so sad many folks just so sad.. bye bye then..lol soon be winter the 1000s of caravan owners go home leaving us - SHH ITS QUIET AGAIN FOR A FEW MONTHS.. bye bye - lol.. DISCLAIMER, now IF Ive upset any of you readers, think about FACTS FIRST, then do as you want eh.. FACTS COME BEFORE LIES IN ANY COURT eh..lol.

    The new luxury apartments next to such poverty really sums things up. I was on a bus from Toronto back to my home town about an hour away. We went by an underpass near the highway. We saw some tents with some homeless people and behind them was an advertisement for luxury condominiums starting at two million dollars. It is absolutely shameful. Also your wife should maybe consider putting some facial tissues in her handbag for the toilets. You are going to run out of socks eventually.

      Society can't account for every homeless persons choices. Canada and USA have a huge homeless subculture of young adults who are slumming it by choice. Toronto, Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Vancouver WA, etc the list is endless. They have chosen drugs and booze over "conformity" and "capitalism" and jobs. It says more about them than the luxury apartments people are building.

As I've stated, the first part of Jaywick was very nice, as was the beach and the community pub. What is a disgrace however, is the fact that the homes in the lower part of Jaywick are in the hands of private landlords, who are charging high rent for homes not fit for purpose.

      @@travellingeverard4326 I live in New Zealand and a similar thing happens here. We have a major housing shortage, people are desperate for homes and property prices are through the roof therefore landlord's charge the rent equivalent of a 3 bed, 2 bath home for a shoebox apartment with no facilities. Houses that were 250k 10-15 years ago are now literally million dollar properties. Generally speaking, working class Kiwi's are totally screwed as far as owning their first home goes.
