For anyone watching this video I’d like to let you guys know that not too long ago I had the pleasure of meeting one of the founders of Glow Recipe. During my time with her we discussed the fragrance in the products and all of the fragrances are actually natural aromas which are much better for the skin and all of these aromas are edible. The fragrance is kept under .5% as well which is less than required by Sephora to be clean. I know people will debate about it but I just thought this was a good call out.
essential oils are also natural fragrance but it's a known irritant for a lot of people. even if your skin doesn't mind the fragrance, with prolonged use your skin can still develop an allergy to it along the road.
maybe because every watermelon (per harvest) have slightly different smell, fragrance is used to make sure the smell is the same. just like juices in boxes need artifical flavoring added i think ...
Erica C it doesn’t lose its smell because they add preservative ingredients. Anything will a smell has to be labeled even if the smells comes naturally from the ingredients.
It may help enhance the smell. For many consumers they enjoy a scent & arent physically bothered by added fragrance. Hence why so many fragance stores are really popular.....
@@marianafares no i havent! Ive tried the sleeping mask line with the ombre packaging(you know, the one with the lip balms and face masks and serums etc) and some sheet masks. My skin didnt react very well, some of them caused breakouts and some just did nothing. I really really love their makeup tho the two tone lipsticks are bomb 😁

I actually like it, and I don’t even have oily skin, mine is dry and sensitive. I got a travel version in a cult beauty box so didn’t actually choose it. However, I use only a very small amountscooped out on my finger nail and it leaves my skin so soft and glows next day. I don’t use it every night though.

My redness all gone, my skin look porcelain. I know fragrances and what’s not but the RESULT! 😫 I have the drunk elephant one too, but the glow recipe for the win.

Personally, I love the watermelon sleeping mask. It makes my skin glow, soft, and hydrates it. I admit it is a pricy product... which is why I bought the mini version lol.
Me too. I bought it from the ‘tunnel of temptation’ at the Sephora checkout and am so glad I did. I will get the full size next time. I only buy travel sizes until I know I love the product. That’s how I knew not to buy the Tatcha Water Cream in the full size.
Can you review Peach And Lily? I feel like the only thing that is different and better than a cheaper alternative (the ordinary) is the resurface mask.
I heard that they filter the reviews to mostly include the better ones, I have tried two of their products and I actually did enjoy the matcha pudding moisturizer but the glass skin refiner did absolutely nothing for me + the packaging for it sucks
@@kassidygolden3613 omg yeah the packaging of the glass skin sucks! It's one of my middle steps so when I'm applying it I either have wet or sticky hands from other products. The impossible to take off unless I have completely dry hands. The product itself also took a very very long time to do anything for me. Almost finished the bottle after using it for a month and just started seeing results (I'm not even sure if it's that). I don't understand the hype
Jenny yeah like I didn’t hate it I didn’t know if it was just my skin because some of the reviews were just professing their love for the product but honestly for the price the packaging was absolutely cheap and inefficient and the product wasn’t even astounding. If I’m gonna buy a 40$ serum I want to feel like something in the product was worth the price but the product didn’t do what it said (at least in the way it was described, they glorified it to the gods), the packaging was cheap and inefficient, and it always left me feeling tacky and never quite sunk in. I could totally let some of these problems go if it was just one was an issue but the other two made up for it but overall I felt like it was a mediocre product that could have sold for 15-20$ and I wouldn’t complain about it as much but I really feel like I didn’t get what I payed for. Some other good niacinimide products I’ve heard good things about are the ordinary one for effectiveness and affordability (it’s packaging works but it’s nothing insta worthy and I’ve heard some people talking about the texture but you get results and it’s like 7$ so...) and the glossier one (super pure?) which has a lower percentage of niacinimide so it preforms a little less than the ordinary one but also it has adorable packaging and a better texture so it is worth it if those are things you care about.
imma be honest i love the ordinary but the peach and lily glass skin serum did amazing things to my skin that the ordinary doesn’t for me. i ran out of it and my skin definitely got so much worse after. it’s expensive but i think for myself it’s worth it to repurchase since it just worked really well for me
The fragrance in all their products is less than 0.5%. I do have pretty sensitive skin and my skin does get irritated by fragrance but it has never happened with glow recipe products. I have tried so far their blueberry cleanser, the retinol eye cream, the watermelon niacinamide drops and the banana Soufflé moisturizer, all of them have worked perfectly fine for my skin. I'm looking forward to try both the watermelon and retinol sleeping masks.
I would love to see a review of Herbivore's products! I wrote it off as a glossier-like aesthetic brand, but after your blue tansy mask video I'm interested in learning more about them
So happy to hear the Watermelon line is approved! I have oilier skin and hormonal acne and this moisturizer works great for me. It’s very light weight and I’ll use the mask at night so I’m not oily all day. The mist is great throughout my makeup as well

I use the avocado sleeping mask and the watermelon spray! I love these two products but then again my skin is dryer than the Sahara desert. Lol, I do definitely agree, if it didn’t have fragrance I would 100000% feel comfortable actually recommending it.
I have sensitive skin that is combo to oily and I love the cleanser paired with the papaya sorbet balm (which I use on days I have makeup on, or that I feel like I put my skin through things that day) but I use the ase after I use micellar water, daily.
I have super dry skin, and I used the watermelon mask & omg I loved it. I know it’s for oily skin, but it worked so good. I wouldn’t recommend it to people due to fragrance but personally it works wonders for me.

I don’t know if you have tried it, but I HIGHLY recommend the plum plump hyaluronic cream (it’s a moisturizer) and it is the best consistency, very low fragrance, and although this is somewhat specific to my skin, it is the first moisturizer not to burn my skin, and it works with VERY little product applied. There is much more, but I can’t think about the rest right now
I use all glow recipe. It took me over 20 years to find something I love! Glow recipe has it all, but you didn't mention the banana souffle cream moisturizer, which is something I absolutely can't live without!
Michelle Hulsinger I mean everyone has their own opinion but every video thumbnail of his that I've seen always seems so negative so I've never bothered to watch him. Plus it's like makeup. Don't let these people tell you what works for you and what doesn't. Everyone's different it's just suggestions. The pineapple serum doesn't have opaque packaging either which can destabilise the vitamin c serum even faster; even without the lack of the preservatives. I love the spray though!!!
Beccy N yes! I brought that up on their Instagram and they claim they use a special packaging material that prevents the vitamin C from destabilizing. Sounds like bs

Hyram, first of all I love you 😘. Onto the skincare. I’m 41, I’ve got mild rosacea and acne. I’m a slave to The Ordinary BHA/AHA 30% peeling solution, Murad hydrating aha/bha exfoliating cleanser, cerave eye cream and NOT MUCH ELSE! I have texture and scarring. Retinol and retinoids are NOT my friends 😩. Since trying the watermelon line my skin is much smoother and my redness??? Redness where are you?! My skin feels so much better than it has in years. It’s my new “ride or die”. It just is. Maybe h th e fragrance component is very minimal. (I tried using some Tarte H20 moisturizer 🤬 once...FML...I think it took a month for my face to get back to normal from the SCENTS in it 💀. It’s really nice to have smoother skin that’s not irritated! I am putting most of my skincare standbys in the donate box for Waterfront Mission in Pensacola, FL. LOVE YOU SO MUCH! missdhoops I think he has an specific pixi video. Just search “hyran pixi”. I had the glicolic acid and to me wasn’t bad, it just did do anything for my skin.

The watermelon sleeping mask I loooooooooved, it never dried my skin out and I’m pretty oily, made me wake up glowy, not sure if it was placebo but I was hella sad when I ran out. Putting it on before bed was my favorite thing. I just don’t know if I wanna pay 50 bucks lol

My understanding is that the Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask is way more nourishing than the Watermelon Sleeping Mask. I have used the former since it was tailored for drier skin. The other products seem overtly hyped up though.

Hi just popping in to say I use their cleansing balm, niacinamide serum, vacation eyes gel, and HA serum and they are AMAZING!! super affordable for the quality and 100% worth it. I havent tried their gel cleanser or moisturizer but I most definitely will!

The blueberry bounce cleanser is my fav, i have dry sensitive skin with rosacea and it dissolves all of my makeup and also doesn't strip my skin of natural oils.

I only recently started researching the ingredients in skincare (partially due to you, so thank you) and what they mean, and I just have a few questions about fragrance if that’s okay! :) 1) Is fragrance objectively harmful for the skin? Or does it vary from person to person? 2) Should fragrance still be a concern if it’s lower on an ingredient list? And 3) Is fragrance still problematic if it’s in a product that’s for the rest of the body, such as lotion? That’s all! Thank you for taking the time to read this if you did! To answer all 3 questions it depends on the person. Everyone reacts to things differently. If you are more prone to reactions from fragrance having less of it in a product would slightly help.
I saw a video comparing the blueberry cleanser to Cetapil gentle skin cleanser. I haven’t used the blueberry cleanser. I have used the Cetaphil on and it works really well for my sensitive skin. It’s $9 for 16 fl oz

so ive used their products in combination with other things but their serum (i hate the smell though), moisturizer, mist, and sometimes cleanser have cleared up my skin sooo much. i feel like skincare preferences are all solely opinion because some things people recommend a lot have ruined my skin in the past
I really like the Blueberry Bounce cleanser! I have dry skin and it works really well, it isn’t stripping and I love that it gets off any makeup remnants. Regarding the price, it is a little high but you barely need any to wash your face, half of a pump is honestly more than enough. It truly is a great value in my opinion.

Weirdly enough, I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin, but the watermelon glow sleeping mask is honestly my favourite product of all the products in my skincare routine 🙈 I ran out of it once for like a month because I couldn't afford to replace it, and my skin honestly hated me for it. It saved my skin in like four days once I bought it again! Genuinely surprised by how well this works on my skin!
Hey they just released a watermelon PHA + BHA toner that I’m curious to see others opinions of. I’ve had it for a week and I already love it. Its first two ingredients are Cactus Extract and Watermelon Extract. As well as Hyaluronic acid is the third. Fragrance is the very last ingredient but I would have preferred it not be there. I first used Glow Recipe last summer and have some opinions. Watermelon Sleep mask I wasn’t a fan of I didn’t like how my skin felt using it. Watermelon Mist was nice it sprayed like a geyser but didn’t hydrate that much in colder seasons so I switched so something else for the winter. But for something quick and dewy in the summer time is great. Pink juice moisturizer I liked but I don’t remember much about it but it was good on my skin. Pineapple C Serum I liked, mine didn’t smell bad so yay but I was expensive a bit. It was my first ever C serum and work pretty well which I was surprised by but I have been trying cheaper options since.
I use the watermelon pink juice moisturizer. I love it❤️ despite the fact that I have dryer skin it works so well as a serum. Only thing I will use now

I absolutely love all their products! The highest quality plus they deliver on promises! Plus the fragrance is very mild and delightful in all of the items you reviewed.
Love Glow Recipe and love you, Hyram! One thing though... glass packaging is actually not great for the environment. At first glance, it seems like it is since it’s made from a natural resource and can be melted down infinite (or at least many) times. However, it’s also responsible for a global sand shortage which may not sound like a huge deal, but it’s also disrupting the ecosystem of everything else nearby. It’s also very resource intensive and a large contributed to emissions to make and relies on fossil fuels to do so. The same applies to recycling it. Glass actually requires more energy than plastic. Basically, they are equally bad. I’m not sure what the better option is, but I’ve been learning more about wheat and bamboo based packaging and it seems promising. Sorry for the rant! Hope it was helpful :)
First month my skin became so hydrated and beautiful. Month 2 my skin is flaking on my chin, forehead oily, and sensitive to all of it now 😭 I'm heartbroken and broken out all over. I don't know what went wrong. Sos.
@@GG1783 I tried minimizing my use. I tried giving my skin a break. Used nothing for 3 days. Then started with their cleanser and moisturizer. (Started to rub off like bad sunblock) gave my skin another day break. Used the cleanser and moisturizer and did a little better. I went ahead and now use all the products but it's still causing breakouts and sensitivity so I'm gonna have to stop use. My skin looks worse than before I started using their line.
For me, Glow Recipe was one of the first brands I really liked for packaging and product. I even tried swapping to the Youth To The People cleanser for awhile, even had some decent results until I realized that it was not working out for me. I tried Herbivore’s blue tansy cleanser because I struggle with acne and redness and I didn’t really feel like it was cleaning my skin. So I went back to my GR blueberry cleanser I still had and it got rid of most of the problems I had, besides the redness. Decided to try their avocado cleanser and that seemed to do the trick. Skincare is really hard and can be frustrating and luckily for me, I guess the fragrance isn’t really an issue for my skin. Thank goodness because I do like that they smell nice. They have so many more products now so I would love to see a new review!

The Watermelon Sleeping Mask is so lovely. I prefer products without fragrance, but this one does such a nice job of hydrating and gently exfoliating. The texture is weird and almost feels like it separated, but it works!

from what i was told, the watermelon mask works as a exfoliator that is why when you start using it you have some flaky skin. I have dry skin and does make my skin a little flaky for about two three days but after a week my skin is bright and smooth my pores are at its minimal. it is pricey which is why I dont buy it all the time but i do love the watermelon mask. i do want to try more things from them, but like you said i do wish the fragrance was not part of this product.
I bought the whole set and it works for me yeah the cleanser is a bit dry when you use it but I use all of them like the cleanse, toner etc I have combination skin so my skin isn’t irritated by any of the products so I love glow reciepe

I love the watermelon mist! Ultra fine mist is so refreshing and moisturizes my skin pretty well. However, I have to tap the product into my face like Hyram mentioned.

I have very oily, acne-prone, sensitive, dehydrated skin (yay me) and I've tried quite a lot of Glow Recipe products. I love the watermelon mask and moisturiser, they're really effective for me and don't make me break out. But OMG the pineapple serum and the banana souffle moisturiser absolutely ruined my skin. I used them both once from a sample 6 months apart and the serum broke me out so badly, and the souffle moisturiser stung my skin and caused huge disgusting breakouts that took two weeks to go away.
Rewatching this video after I finally tried some of the products and I wanna say that watermelon sleeping mask doesn't fully absorb into my skin and leave a bit of tacky/oily feeling on my face and in the night gets all over my pillow XD says a lot about my skin oilyness level, I guess

Personally, I love the watermelon sleeping mask. It makes my skin glow, soft, and hydrates it. I admit it is a pricy product... which is why I bought the mini version lol.

Jenny yeah like I didn’t hate it I didn’t know if it was just my skin because some of the reviews were just professing their love for the product but honestly for the price the packaging was absolutely cheap and inefficient and the product wasn’t even astounding. If I’m gonna buy a 40$ serum I want to feel like something in the product was worth the price but the product didn’t do what it said (at least in the way it was described, they glorified it to the gods), the packaging was cheap and inefficient, and it always left me feeling tacky and never quite sunk in. I could totally let some of these problems go if it was just one was an issue but the other two made up for it but overall I felt like it was a mediocre product that could have sold for 15-20$ and I wouldn’t complain about it as much but I really feel like I didn’t get what I payed for. Some other good niacinimide products I’ve heard good things about are the ordinary one for effectiveness and affordability (it’s packaging works but it’s nothing insta worthy and I’ve heard some people talking about the texture but you get results and it’s like 7$ so...) and the glossier one (super pure?) which has a lower percentage of niacinimide so it preforms a little less than the ordinary one but also it has adorable packaging and a better texture so it is worth it if those are things you care about.
imma be honest i love the ordinary but the peach and lily glass skin serum did amazing things to my skin that the ordinary doesn’t for me. i ran out of it and my skin definitely got so much worse after. it’s expensive but i think for myself it’s worth it to repurchase since it just worked really well for me
The fragrance in all their products is less than 0.5%. I do have pretty sensitive skin and my skin does get irritated by fragrance but it has never happened with glow recipe products. I have tried so far their blueberry cleanser, the retinol eye cream, the watermelon niacinamide drops and the banana Soufflé moisturizer, all of them have worked perfectly fine for my skin. I'm looking forward to try both the watermelon and retinol sleeping masks.
I would love to see a review of Herbivore's products! I wrote it off as a glossier-like aesthetic brand, but after your blue tansy mask video I'm interested in learning more about them
So happy to hear the Watermelon line is approved! I have oilier skin and hormonal acne and this moisturizer works great for me. It’s very light weight and I’ll use the mask at night so I’m not oily all day. The mist is great throughout my makeup as well

Don’t be discouraged by the cleanser it’s actually really great if you have dry sensitive skin which I do so I actually love this cleanser

I have super dry skin, and I used the watermelon mask & omg I loved it. I know it’s for oily skin, but it worked so good. I wouldn’t recommend it to people due to fragrance but personally it works wonders for me.

Check out Dr.Drat about parabens. She's a dermatologist and said ITS SAFE unless you have some allergies for parabens which is like...most likely not.

I don’t know if you have tried it, but I HIGHLY recommend the plum plump hyaluronic cream (it’s a moisturizer) and it is the best consistency, very low fragrance, and although this is somewhat specific to my skin, it is the first moisturizer not to burn my skin, and it works with VERY little product applied. There is much more, but I can’t think about the rest right now

Hyram, first of all I love you 😘. Onto the skincare. I’m 41, I’ve got mild rosacea and acne. I’m a slave to The Ordinary BHA/AHA 30% peeling solution, Murad hydrating aha/bha exfoliating cleanser, cerave eye cream and NOT MUCH ELSE! I have texture and scarring. Retinol and retinoids are NOT my friends 😩. Since trying the watermelon line my skin is much smoother and my redness??? Redness where are you?! My skin feels so much better than it has in years. It’s my new “ride or die”. It just is. Maybe h th e fragrance component is very minimal. (I tried using some Tarte H20 moisturizer 🤬 once...FML...I think it took a month for my face to get back to normal from the SCENTS in it 💀.
It’s really nice to have smoother skin that’s not irritated! I am putting most of my skincare standbys in the donate box for Waterfront Mission in Pensacola, FL.

My understanding is that the Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask is way more nourishing than the Watermelon Sleeping Mask. I have used the former since it was tailored for drier skin. The other products seem overtly hyped up though.

Hi just popping in to say I use their cleansing balm, niacinamide serum, vacation eyes gel, and HA serum and they are AMAZING!! super affordable for the quality and 100% worth it. I havent tried their gel cleanser or moisturizer but I most definitely will!

Hi Hyram! I only recently started researching the ingredients in skincare (partially due to you, so thank you) and what they mean, and I just have a few questions about fragrance if that’s okay! :)
1) Is fragrance objectively harmful for the skin? Or does it vary from person to person?
2) Should fragrance still be a concern if it’s lower on an ingredient list?
And 3) Is fragrance still problematic if it’s in a product that’s for the rest of the body, such as lotion?

To answer all 3 questions it depends on the person. Everyone reacts to things differently. If you are more prone to reactions from fragrance having less of it in a product would slightly help.
I saw a video comparing the blueberry cleanser to Cetapil gentle skin cleanser. I haven’t used the blueberry cleanser. I have used the Cetaphil on and it works really well for my sensitive skin. It’s $9 for 16 fl oz

Well glow recipe isn't heavy on fragrance
so ive used their products in combination with other things but their serum (i hate the smell though), moisturizer, mist, and sometimes cleanser have cleared up my skin sooo much. i feel like skincare preferences are all solely opinion because some things people recommend a lot have ruined my skin in the past

I really like the Blueberry Bounce cleanser! I have dry skin and it works really well, it isn’t stripping and I love that it gets off any makeup remnants. Regarding the price, it is a little high but you barely need any to wash your face, half of a pump is honestly more than enough. It truly is a great value in my opinion.

Weirdly enough, I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin, but the watermelon glow sleeping mask is honestly my favourite product of all the products in my skincare routine 🙈
I ran out of it once for like a month because I couldn't afford to replace it, and my skin honestly hated me for it. It saved my skin in like four days once I bought it again! Genuinely surprised by how well this works on my skin!
Hey they just released a watermelon PHA + BHA toner that I’m curious to see others opinions of. I’ve had it for a week and I already love it. Its first two ingredients are Cactus Extract and Watermelon Extract. As well as Hyaluronic acid is the third. Fragrance is the very last ingredient but I would have preferred it not be there. I first used Glow Recipe last summer and have some opinions.
Watermelon Sleep mask I wasn’t a fan of I didn’t like how my skin felt using it.
Watermelon Mist was nice it sprayed like a geyser but didn’t hydrate that much in colder seasons so I switched so something else for the winter. But for something quick and dewy in the summer time is great.
Pink juice moisturizer I liked but I don’t remember much about it but it was good on my skin.
Pineapple C Serum I liked, mine didn’t smell bad so yay but I was expensive a bit. It was my first ever C serum and work pretty well which I was surprised by but I have been trying cheaper options since.
Please do Peach and Lily-specifically the Glass Skin Serum.

I absolutely love all their products! The highest quality plus they deliver on promises! Plus the fragrance is very mild and delightful in all of the items you reviewed.
Love Glow Recipe and love you, Hyram! One thing though... glass packaging is actually not great for the environment. At first glance, it seems like it is since it’s made from a natural resource and can be melted down infinite (or at least many) times. However, it’s also responsible for a global sand shortage which may not sound like a huge deal, but it’s also disrupting the ecosystem of everything else nearby. It’s also very resource intensive and a large contributed to emissions to make and relies on fossil fuels to do so. The same applies to recycling it. Glass actually requires more energy than plastic. Basically, they are equally bad. I’m not sure what the better option is, but I’ve been learning more about wheat and bamboo based packaging and it seems promising. Sorry for the rant! Hope it was helpful :)

First month my skin became so hydrated and beautiful. Month 2 my skin is flaking on my chin, forehead oily, and sensitive to all of it now 😭 I'm heartbroken and broken out all over. I don't know what went wrong. Sos.

@@GG1783 I tried minimizing my use. I tried giving my skin a break. Used nothing for 3 days. Then started with their cleanser and moisturizer. (Started to rub off like bad sunblock) gave my skin another day break. Used the cleanser and moisturizer and did a little better. I went ahead and now use all the products but it's still causing breakouts and sensitivity so I'm gonna have to stop use. My skin looks worse than before I started using their line.
The watermelon glow mist lasts FOREVER!! Totally worth the investment!
For me, Glow Recipe was one of the first brands I really liked for packaging and product. I even tried swapping to the Youth To The People cleanser for awhile, even had some decent results until I realized that it was not working out for me. I tried Herbivore’s blue tansy cleanser because I struggle with acne and redness and I didn’t really feel like it was cleaning my skin. So I went back to my GR blueberry cleanser I still had and it got rid of most of the problems I had, besides the redness. Decided to try their avocado cleanser and that seemed to do the trick. Skincare is really hard and can be frustrating and luckily for me, I guess the fragrance isn’t really an issue for my skin. Thank goodness because I do like that they smell nice.
They have so many more products now so I would love to see a new review!

The Watermelon Sleeping Mask is so lovely. I prefer products without fragrance, but this one does such a nice job of hydrating and gently exfoliating. The texture is weird and almost feels like it separated, but it works!

from what i was told, the watermelon mask works as a exfoliator that is why when you start using it you have some flaky skin. I have dry skin and does make my skin a little flaky for about two three days but after a week my skin is bright and smooth my pores are at its minimal. it is pricey which is why I dont buy it all the time but i do love the watermelon mask. i do want to try more things from them, but like you said i do wish the fragrance was not part of this product.

I have very oily, acne-prone, sensitive, dehydrated skin (yay me) and I've tried quite a lot of Glow Recipe products. I love the watermelon mask and moisturiser, they're really effective for me and don't make me break out. But OMG the pineapple serum and the banana souffle moisturiser absolutely ruined my skin. I used them both once from a sample 6 months apart and the serum broke me out so badly, and the souffle moisturiser stung my skin and caused huge disgusting breakouts that took two weeks to go away.

Rewatching this video after I finally tried some of the products and I wanna say that watermelon sleeping mask doesn't fully absorb into my skin and leave a bit of tacky/oily feeling on my face and in the night gets all over my pillow XD says a lot about my skin oilyness level, I guess
