I feel that Spottedleaf in a way hurts Firestar. She doesn't let Firestar move on with his life and does it impact Firestar and Sandstorm as a couple? Who knows? I still don't understand how Firestar needed Spottedleaf killed off to know that Sandstorm is a much better choice

Okay so I feel like Firestar’s weird love for her is so strange and out of no where. Like, he saw her once and was like “oh, she’s pretty and smells nice” and then they have like two or three conversations and then she dies. How in the world are you madly in love with this person for years?!
Well, he was lso always looking for excuses to see Spottedleaf. He was definitely in love with her for a while, and her sudden death probably hit him hard because he had wanted much more chances to be with her. But then she kept appearing in his dreams and he probably felt a special bond with her because she is probably very comforting to see because he probably feels longing to be with her. Firestar did love her.
I thought it was just a kid crush in Into The Wild, but it went on for the rest of the series. I just don't get it. I'm pretty sure it was resolved in Firestar's Quest though.
I still think Lionheart would have been a better StarClan mentor or whatever for him. Heck, even Redtail would have worked, because Fireheart kept trying to find out the truth about his death.

Spottedleaf has nothing going for her, really. She's pretty, and that's all I can say for her. She's kind of just...there. She's a standard StarClan cat who's only purpose is giving useless, vague prophecies and is a simp for Firestar.

Honestly, despite the fact that he died so quickly without meeting Firepaw, I think even Redtail would have been a better guide choice. Besides Ravenpaw, (and maybe Graypaw) Firepaw was the only one who knew the truth about Redtails death. It would make sense if Redtail tried to help Firepaw bring Tigerclaw to justice for his crimes. That and we could have gotten to know more about the dead deputy and what he was like. Other than in his weird and continuity error riddled novella, there isn't really any character to this supposedly great cat at all. Of course, that's just my opinion, I just wish Redtail's debt was better written.
Yeah! Like, I guess I'd count main series books over canon, but in Redtail's debt, I guess whoever wrote it didnt realize that rocks actually killed Oakheart, not Redtail.

I wish the Spotted/Fire relationship was more of like a sibling connection. I think it would have been nice for Firepaw to connect to Spottedleaf because he misses his sister, Princess, and for Spottedleaf to connect to Firepaw while she mourns Redtail.

I’m currently making the first arc into episodes, any tips on how I can make Spottedleaf’s character better? If the prophecies aren’t very helpful should I cut them out? How can I make her a more likable character?
Should I potentially replace her with another StarClan cat who might deliver a prophecy better from time to time? Like what if Lionheart did give a prophecy, or maybe Redtail or Oakheart, Spottedleaf could still be there but it wouldn’t be every single time. And if he did see the spirits of the cats he’s chasing the truth about solving the mystery around their death - would that be cool?
Maybe make her relationship with FireHeart make more sense, like have them interact more, and help eachother while she’s alive. Make them atleast start realizing their feelings for eachother before she dies, and make their feelings make sense. If that won’t work for some reason, just make her a better guide, and cut out the love story all together
@@Zack-eq3ou I’m already on Book 3 - Forest of Secrets at this point :) So I can’t really go back to when she was alive, except in flashbacks, which could be possible. If Spottedleaf is meant to be a source of longing, he could remember a day that he spent with her that grew their connection when she was alive. Maybe he could have a conversation about it with someone, that could bring up this flashback.

I always hated the fact that Firestar could never get over Spottedleaf. Like dude, you knew her for like two, three months and you STILL would have trouble deciding between her and Sandstorm, the cat who's been your mate for years. Also I agree that Firestar should have been guided by Lionheart, or even Redtail since it was Redtail's death Firestar was trying to figure out and bring justice to.
I think she's just a badly executed stereotypical, ethereal female spirit guide. I feel like she should have laid off when Sandstorm became Firestars mate. At least Graystripe was officially mates with Silverstream, so he has a right to miss her.

Spottedleaf, aka the stalker Marie Sue. Her character would have been incredibly interesting If she was actually secretely evil, or If she became evil. It would have explained many things, and It would have fairly justified her second departure. What a missed chance.
Yes! The authors have bluestar telling her off I believe in the second arc somewhere saying his kits arnt hers and needs to stop being so hands on in matters involving them. Can you imagine what spottedleafs heart would have been like if we see her trying to sabotage firestar and sandstorms relationship? It would have given a new impact when she shields sandstorm in the battle with the dark forest cats. Like a redemption scene.

The most we've ever seen was that one that killed Moonflower, though he wasn't exactly "evil" and in any case not by medicine cats standards, but by warriors stardards. A medicine cat, that exclusively trained has a medicine cat, truly gifted in his/her job and with a profound connection with Starclan... that turned "evil", using his/her power and influence over his/her clan mates would have been unique. A stalker powerful, respected and manipulative like Spottedleaf would have been also terrifying. She could have easily been a mastermind behind many tragedies, like the one involving Hollyleaf. She could have been a female Ashfur, only stronger and everlasting - until her redemption arc. I would gladly read something like this.

I really hated Spottedleaf. She was a very minor character while she was alive. All she did was give herbs to Firepaw. And when she was a ghost, she only delivered prophecies and even though she was one of the main cats in Starclan, felt like she only went to him in his dreams, not for the sake of thunderclan, but just to see him. I never really saw her as a romantic partner for Firestar either. 4:25,
If this is true, I feel like if that was Spottedleaf’s goal, she could’ve just not gone to him in the first place. Showing how that her goal just might be to see Fireheart.

Honestly if her goal was just prophecies why not give them to a medicine cat?? She was only seeing fireheart for them for personal reasons.
If Spottedleaf didn’t exist:
•Another medicine cat would have to be alive in Into The Wild, maybe Featherwhisker?
•Firepaw wouldnt have any other love interests besides Sandstorm
•Clawface could kill another cat instead of Spottedleaf
•Sandstorm wouldn’t be mad at Firestar in Firestar’s Quest
•Someone else could be the main prophecy deliverer of StarClan (Lionheart? Bluestar? Yellowfang?)
So, she really doesn’t have any use at all.
Featherwhisker would've been a great character to have taken Spottedleaf's place. And instead of being his waifu he could be like a father figure and spirit guide to Firepaw/heart/star.
He's caring and understanding and would maybe give an incentive for Firestar not to be the perfect protagonist from the beginning.
Apparently according to someone who asked what would have changed on Blog clan, Cinderpelt would have most likely been like Briarlight in that she would have stayed in the medicine den without being a medicine cat, and Yellowfang would have simply been an elder (If I remember correctly)

She's honestly nothing more than a stalker who kept pushing herself on to a man who was significantly younger than her and who was actively happily married, going as far as watching his children. She had no need to be his guide at all, and it should've been Redtail (Or Lionheart). Her novella is disowned by the fandom, and she's useless in general. This is why I can't stand her.

I think spottedleaf was introduceed then killed off to show firepaw(and the reader) that this was no longer his calm soft kittypet life. There was going to be deaths, fights and heartbreak. To show him that he was going to be put through a lot. Back in his kittypet life he never had to worry about his friends dying but as a clan that's something he needs to learn.
I partially agree with this. The Spottedleaf’s Heart Spottedleaf is actually interesting. But in the main series I think she is just horrible. She distracts Firestar from Sandstorm, and then she is just killed off completely in the Last Hope. Such a missed opportunity.
Spottedleaf got _so_ screwed over by the writers, yeah. Genuinely she's one of the characters that'd be easiest to write out for a movie adaptation. Like seriously, they could just give Bluestar the prophecy dream and have a missing medicine cat or something and the Yellowfang plot-point could still likely go off without a hitch. She had so much potential but was never allowed to live up to any of it! Whichever of the Erins decided that "character depth" means "was groomed since the tail-end of kithood by Thistleclaw to be his future m8" needs to know they did NOT help Spottedleaf not be boring and underdeveloped to people!

Honestly I think she would have been a widely loved character if she was just a normal, kind medicine cat like Cinderpelt. The whole Firestar-romance thing has no reason to exist and the books would have managed just fine without it.
Yeah, I actually really like Cinder 1. (You'll understand if you read far enough) she is just normal and kind. Yeaa, I knowwww, after a while she got Yellowfang's Character and stuff, but I quite like her.
I hate the topic, genuinely, but Spottedleaf’s heart shows some horrible things done to her. Unknowingly, she repeats the behaviour. I’d prefer if nothing of this had happened in the first place, but it makes sense. Spottedleaf was pretty oblivious to thistles behaviour, so it makes sense to, on accident, do this to Firepaw until he became Firestar and continue the cycle. It’s disgusting, but true.

If I could rewrite Warriors, I probably would’ve had Redtail be the spirit who guides Firestar. Sunstar showed Redtail how he doesn’t have to worry about Tigerstar when Rusty came to ThunderClan, so I think he’d want to be there to help guide Firestar on the right track

Alright, let me get the 3rd category straight. The memes are correct though.. Firepaw - Firestar does usually choose Spottedleaf over Sandstorm a lot of times. He usually only uses Sandstorm for motivation.. and yes, I'm going there, a distraction from Spottedleaf. Firestar does love Sandstorm, we're all sure of that, but will she ever replace Spottedleaf?
The cons sure outweigh the pros. Sandstorm deserves better.

Yep, Spottedleaf honestly had a lot of potential, but ended up being an absolute trashbag of a character due to poor writing choices, she was killed off too early and we hardly even got any indications that Firepaw liked her before she died,,, her book, (spottedleaf's heart) is also an absolute wreck, not touching on the sensitive subjects but she has so much leaps in character, once she's mature, next childish, and she's supposedly young too, which makes her character in Firestar's quest even WEIRDER considering how strange it already is, there are times where we can actuslly like her and there are timed where she just sucked, she's a jumbled up mess of a character and i wish they put more effort into writing her because honestlyi felt like she could've been a great cat if they had tried harder,,, it's a shame she just went into waste...
I also think that her appearance in leafpool's wish is absolutely useless and unnecessary? She's everywhere in places that are most unneeded which just makes her more frustrating and annoying.

But yes, (to everyone saying that Spottedleaf’s Heart doesn’t count) it WAS crappy and disgusting in my opinion. There are some people who don’t consider it canon, and that’s totally fine, but when addressing canon as whole, (as far as I know) Spottedleaf’s Heart is still canon. Therefore it should be acknowledged when discussing things that revolve around characters that appeared in and/or were influenced by the book, whether you want it to be canon or not.
But I totally agree that Spottedleaf’s Heart sucked. I was just pointing out that it existed. I hope I don’t come across as rude or anything, this is just what I think lol

I genuinely didnt understand the crappy FireSpotted "romance" until reading Spottedleaf's Honest Opinion. It really put things into view for me. If you havent read it, its a book by Vicky Holmes in Spottedleafs 1st person POV. Basically, it tells us about how Spottedleaf had a small crush on Fire but never intended to act on it. When she died, she had lost her chance at life, and she was in denial. She then dream stalked Fire and his family because she viewed them as her link to the living. She died young and was in denial about that. After reading that I genuinely appreciate Spottedleaf more, and I suggest you all read it as well!
I dont think that we REALLY needed Spottedleaf, but that book does put things into perspective for WHY she did the things she did.

Shes still one of my favorites lol I was obsessed with her as a kid. I loved her name and my vision of her in my head.. so pretty! I was so sad that she was killed off to quick. I wasn't too big of a fan though with how much they kept coming back in the dreams and seeming to make FS forget about ya know.. his mate? I'll have to reread Into the Wild again and see if my opinions change now that I'm 25, but I restarted the books again about 5 years ago and from what I remember.. I still loved her!

Well, your opinion is interesting but I have to say that I don't share it. I'm not very far with the books, but I did read all the prophecy begin and Firestar's quest, so I will also use them as information.
When Spottedleaf appeared in into the wild, yes she was boring and the interaction with Firepaw was very small and they never said anything important in their conversation, but when Spottedleaf died everything changed. She started to visit Firepaw/hearth in his dreams and I don't think it's actually stalking as it just happens in Firepaw/hearth's dreams and she is not spying him or searching private information or such. She just wanted to pass more time with him and Firepaw/hearth also wanted to and the only way they could do that was the way it happend in the series.
About the prophecy, even the other accessors never gived important information, so I don't see why Spottedleaf should be considereted boring in that way. I also think it's cool try to guess what does the prophecy meaning and it gives the readers the will to continue reading the books because they get more and more interesting.
Also in Firestar's quest the relationship between Firestar and Sandstorm make me see Sandstorm even more bad that what I thought of her at the beginning. In into the wild we can all agree that she was some kind of a bully to Firepaw and she was always judging him beacause of where he was born despite how he was feeling. Then BOOM, mates! It was just rushed the way Sandstorm fell in love with him. The Erins probably selected them to be mates so that Firehearth/Star could have had kids and the series could continue. Of course they chooses Sandstorm beacause the readers already knew her from the first book. It's just like one of those 10 years old fantasy where the bully and the victim become mates. When the series continued every thing was quite ok I guess, but again in Firestar's quest she judged Firestar again beacause of his childhood crush, she didn't even know at first that Spottedleaf and Firestar were meeting in Firestar's dreams!
This is my opinion about her, but I won't judge other fans beacause of what they think.

Well...spottedleaf did sacrifice her life for the kits and basically said she had let go of firestar when mapleshade tried to have her on her side so she could kill sandstorm, but she sacrificed her spirit life for sandstorm!

I've read too much fanfiction and roleplayed as Spottedleaf a lot, so I've built up a love for my own personal vision of who I think she should be and not who she actually is in the books. Also, I love tortoiseshell cats. I had one I named Nanaba.

Imagine a world where Redtail is the cat that guides Firestar. We could have gotten Redtail screen time, scenes where Redtail wants to flat out tell Fireheart what Tigerclaw did but is only able to give hints or to look out for Ravenpaw and listen to him when he talks. We could have that mysterious feeling of a Starclan cat we don’t know much about helping Fireheart bring said cat peace.

I agree. She has utterly no flaws, died in literally the first book, and she doesn’t really have much character except she’s kind-hearted and well..she’s useless. She still flirted (or should I say she loved him, perhaps) even though she was a medicine cat, she was way, way older than him, and he was gullible and young, but she still did it. It was very risky and stupid. But she was smart enough to realize she never was going to have kits with him (of course she wasn’t, she was a medicine cat for StarClan’s sake!). Plus, in Into The Wild, Firepaw has surprisingly very few interactions with Spottedleaf, only a few of them being he goes to talk to her a few times or has to get Herbs for Yellowfang while he’s caring for her. But Firestar was gullible and adolescent at the time, so that makes sense for him to have a crush on her. But Spottedleaf liking him back...makes no sense. Some rumors are that she only liked Firepaw when he brought Yellowfang into ThunderClan, but...that makes no sense either. Plus, she barely knew him, and he never showed any signs of falling in love. Yet, us as the readers as supposed to think it’s some tragic love story. I don’t think so. And when she became Firestar’s “spirit advisor”, the Erins obviously tried too hard to make her appear to be godlike, making her seem beautiful, wise, mysterious, all-knowing, serene, and mysterious. In addition, she had this “sweet scent”, which seemed utterly useless. But one of her mains flaws was that she couldn’t let go. She had no relationship with Firestar, yet she refused to leave him alone. In more simpler words, she was obsessed with Firestar. (I don’t think the Erins meant to make her seem that way, but that’s how she turned out to be.) Here’s a bit of evidence that Spottedleaf herself thought: ‘Did you know he came looking for me in a dream, sought me out to explain that he had to move on and that he couldn’t be in love with a memory anymore? I am not a memory! I wanted to wail, like a kit abandoned by it’s mother. I am still here, I still love you. I’ll walk beside you forever. But what is that compared with the warmth Sandstorm can offer him, the solid presence of a mate to help him lead the Clan, to give him beautiful children and watch their kin grow up together? I will still be young when Firestar grows old, but Sandstorm will match him step for step, reflecting his graying fur and slowing paws like a pool of clear water.’ Why couldn’t she move on from a Tom she barely interacted with? Only StarClan knows, but Spottedleaf, in my opinion, is utterly useless.
A few years ago I was thinking of writing a fanfic off of the first arc, I started to pick it up again a couple months ago and one of my newest ideas for it was actually make spottedleaf alive AND important!
When I started reading Warriors, my mom had a tortoise shell she cat with green eyes so Spottedleaf became one of my favorite cats in the first arc.
I didn’t really understand what was so great about spottedleaf when I read the first series in 4th grade. (I’m in middle school now) I mean she just had no character. I couldn’t even connect with her. Not to mention the fact that she was WAY older than Firepaw/heart. All I saw really was Spottedleaf leading him on and then leaving him behind and the cycle repeats. I mean I get why they probably sent her down there because they thought fireheart was trust spottedleaf (which he did) But if the fandom controlled the books I bet we all pick Lionheart. It just makes more sense. Fire heart could’ve actually focused more if he wasn’t still simping for his childhood crush spottedleaf
I completely agree. Firestar and Spottedleaf's relationship is just flat and boring by now, and all she does is distract main characters with her perfume
Here’s a better way to build spottedleaf: she could have been medicine app (featherwhister her mentor still just more recently) her and fire heart could talk a lot and then when firepaw hangs out with greypaw nore she should her jealous and stop talking to him (into the wild) then greypaw tells her that it’s clear that spottedpaw has a crush on him. Then feather tail dies like spottedleaf and spottedleaf takes his place (yellow fang as prisoner still) then maybe spotted leaf gets killed in the shadow clan battle in that book infront of fire heart and then the story continues as normal. Yellow fang the medicine cat. This way she’s built better, and makes more sence. (Edit) also she could give less prophecies

I’ve never really liked Spottedleaf. I just never found myself able to like her when I started reading the first series.
Ok, in defence of spotted leaf, i actually really like her but she is quite forgettable
The author had to get rid of spotted leaf but still made her in the books by appearing in firehearts dream,they had to get rid of her so that cinderpaw / cinderpelt could have her leg get crushed and become a medicine cat apprentice.Her death let’s more things happen in the warriors first series,even if she isn’t to important the author used her to create drama and to open up room for more events to happen with the medicine cat role, if she didnt die then yellowfang wouldn’t be medicine cat!and if yellowfang didn’t become medicine cat,then we wouldn’t know anything about broken star , spotted leafs death actually helped the author even if it made her role in the series seem not important. There’s really small details ( like deaths ) that lead us to letting the series have more events and letting us learn more!

While reading the first arc I didn't seem to understand why Firestar had such romantic feelings for Spottedleaf. I didn't get it during their first encounter and before I know it, she's dead at the end of the first book. I feel like she had a lot more potential if she wasn't killed off too quickly.
