Doesn't really matter which song you choose to watch - Nightwish will never disappoint. Ever. Marko sings a number of backup vocals and a few lead vocals as well. There's also a third singer and musician you haven't seen yet - Troy Donockley, a multi-instrumentalist from the UK who plays at least 12 different instruments. Marko is also a great guitarist as well. Six of the best musicians, playing compositions by a modern day Mozart and fronted by a Goddess. What more could you want?
What more I want? I want Marko back in the band!! :-/

And my first concert in the Past-Marko-Era (November 2021 in Oslo) was also an incredible fantastic show!
Yes, Marko can sing. An accomplished singer in his own right. He sings backup, duets and even lead on some songs. If you want to check out one of his lead songs, I recommend Kiss While your Lips Are Still Red. The Islander and Pink Floyd cover of High Hopes are popular too.

Kiss while your lips are still red at Wembley is amazing. Troy (multinstrumentalist who you have not seen so far) plays guitar with an Ebow. Floor sings backup. Love all three of these songs suggested.
If you do The Islander make sure you do the live version.
He crushes on Phantom of the Opera as well.

Your smile says it all, and we've all been there. I suspect, like a lot of us, you'll be stunned by the breadth of Marko's vocal skills. I'm sure you'll see 'Romanticide' recommended a lot (and it should be) but Ghost River and Song of Myself also demonstrate how perfect they sound together. They are an amazing vocal pairing.

Watched Nightwish on and off for years but only in this past couple of months have I really bombarded my ears not only with Nightwish but Floor herself. Yes, Floored entirely! Marko? Yup! It's sad that he's leaving but I fully understand his reasons having been through a lot of health issues myself and SO hope we get to see him again sometime in the future. Look after yourself Marko

I love Finnish metal, Amorphis, Wintersun etc, but Nightwish are just beyond words. Respect from Northern Ireland.

You spoke of attendees at the Wacken 2013 show coming to worship at the feet of the Valkyrie Goddess. Thing is, for most of the attendees, this show was their first time seeing her on stage with Nightwish. I imagine that when the die-hard fans heard that she had been hired to fill in for the previous singer for the remainder of the Imaginaerum Tour and knowing they had tickets to see her perform with them, they immediately went and listened (or re-listened) to all of the stuff she had done in her 16 year career up till that point (After Forever, ReVamp, etc). So, I suspect there was some speculation about how well she would do with Nightwish.
Well, by the end of the show, any questions that the fans may have had about her vocal ability, stage presence, and chemistry with the rest of the band had been answered. As I understand it, right before the show she and Troy (6th member whom you haven't seen yet) were offered permanent band membership and it was made public in the days following. I think the knowledge that the band was whole again, and perhaps better than ever, may have helped them make this such an iconic performance.

Having grown up since rock and roll started went to many concerts seen the best live, I have to say this is the best sounding live group I've heard if I was younger I'd love to see them in person also the best songs I've ever heard written tuomas holopainen is a genius of course floor is the best and with marco just steps it up and all are upper tier musicians God bless

Yes, do bounce around abit. Gabriel does have an awesome list. As you go down the rabbit hole, you will fall more and more in love with Nightwish. However, be prepared to get introduced to bands such as Epica and Sabaton. All three bands.have ties to one another as you will see on your journey. And I don't say "Journeying" lightly. Each song (in itself) is a journey and not just a pile of lyrics and notes. Just wait until you see more.

Indeed, bounce as much as you want, but use Gabriels links if possible. There are a lot of videos floating around with degraded audio or video quality. Some videos on YT, especially the Wacken 2013 videos, might be taken from the BluRay, which has a faulty frame rate causing it to play slower than intended.
And yes, sidesteps are interesting too: Epica, Sabaton, Ayreon, Star One, Wintersun, the Gathering, as well as solo projects of Floor (on her own YT channel and through the Beste Zangers shows), Tarja, Tuomas (Life and Times of Scrooge), and many more. You will have content for years if you want

There is no specific list...only suggestions. As someone who has loved this band for 23 years I can honestly say the best way to discover Nightwish is in your own way. Life would be so boring if we all followed along the same path. Thanks for the reaction!!

The fans were there for the band. Most had never heard Floor sing with Nightwish. She had only been with the band for 10 months as a fill in singer for the World Tour they were just finishing. This was a 15 song setlist and NONE of the songs had been written for Floors voice. The audience knew the words from the 2 previous female lead singers. The show opener, Dark Chest of Wonders, was her introduction to most of the audience, and she owned them from that point. That should be your next song. Trust me. It is the way every show should start!

Floor is very versatile. She was in the 2019 season of the Dutch show "Beste zangers" where 7 singers sing to each other and share memories and stories. She has don all kind of stiles of music in that show from pop, operah, kind of country and Dutch folk music. The most epic song among reactors is Phantom of the Opera she did with the real Dutch Phantom actor Henk Port
Marko has a great voice. Romanticide is good to hear them both. To hear Marko at his best, listen to Nightwish cover the Pink Floyd song High Hopes.

A front man, lead vocalist in his first major band "Tarot" with his brother. Band is still alive and kicking. When Marko was a little bit busier he was playing/singing in 8-9 bands/combos at the same time. And he made a world tour with "Delain" just for fun.
Yep, we got you. Well done sir. My favorite straight up Marco singing is "I want my tears back" Buenos Aires show. You'll love that one. I hope you get around to "Bless the Child" from Wacken. It's my favorite. There is so much more. Your playlist will be full.

Floor has said that this song is one of the more challenging for her to sing.
If you want another song that starts out with piano, try Nemo, either at Wacken with Floor, or the 2005 End of an Era show with original lead singer Tarja Turunen.
For pure epicness go for the masterpiece, the 20min beast that is The Greatest Show on Earth - its incredible. But there are so many amazing songs.... Noise, The Devil and the Deep Blue Ocean, Song of Myself, Weak Fantasy, Shudder before the Beautiful..... and pretty much any Nightwish song. I only discovered them at the beginning of this year and I'm already a massive fan. I'm 52 and I can't believe I'd never heard of them til now!!!! amazing.
" Ever Dream " is the sixth single by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. Released as the first single from the band's fourth studio album, Century Child, it was the group's first single in two years, following " Deep Silent Complete " in 2000.
The song is more operatic in nature than later works and the music itself is more on the heavy metal side. It is still played live since 2002 until today. "Ever Dream" was certified with Gold Disc in Finland two days after its release, with more than 5,000 copies sold, and later received Platinum Disc with more than 10,000 copies sold.

This song is my nomination for the all-time best single recording of a live performance by a band or group. The combination of Nightwish + Marco + Floor = Unbeatable. Suggestions for your next reaction (sorry, I'm not following Gabriel's list):
From the Decades concert in Buenos Aires....I Want My Tears Back. You have to include the prelude to the song, as you will witness the greatest concert crowd interaction ever. Also, Floor is in rare from on this performance, as is Troy.
From the Tampere concert...Endless Forms Most Beautiful. This is just simply a great song and you will see both Marco and Floor singing. The Tampere concert is overwhelming. Just fantastic.
Nightwish had 3 great singers - Floor, Marko and Troy..
I would suggest:
"Kiss while your lips are still red", Wembley 2015 /16 - Marko lead, Floor backing.
"Carpenter" - Buenos Aires 2018 - Troy lead and Floor backing.
The duets between Floor and Marko were probably the best in a metal in this century - you just wait!!!
And you are spot on about Floor - she is the greatest singer in the galaxy - and you have still only scratched the surface of Nightwish's and Floor's capabilities 😁

Marko started around 1984 with his brother Sakari (Zachary) band called Tarot. Marko sings quite lot in Nightwish. High Hopes, Kiss While Your Lips Are Still Red, Master Passion Greed, Ghost River, Romanticide etc...
Marko singing "High Hopes" will knock your socks of.
Nightwish are probably the best band I've ever seen, and I've seen them live a lot (UK tours only) never disappoints.
A little back story the album Century Child was wrote at a time of personal pain for Tuomas its an emotional album. It's so revealing, so much sadness and beauty. Everdream feels hopefully with all the human emotions. Tuomas was depressed when this was wrote and its a painful album. Everdream is among some of the best songs he's ever wrote (in my opinion) it doesn't matter what order you listen each is a journey. Enjoy. Floor is expectional.

I am a diehard Nightwish fan but for something different with a piano intro try Lovebites, an all female Japanese rock band, playing Edge of the World live.

If you want to see the crowd at Wacken 2013 sing a song with Floor, check out Amaranth, an older well known Nightwish song.
Floor has the audience sing some of the lyric lines for her loudly and correctly.
Tuomas was impressed I think.
The official music video with Anette is also good and well produced, based on a folk story.

Marko does lead on (these are on your list) The Islander Live at Tampere, While Your Lips Are Still Red live at Wembley, High Hopes End of an Era live 2005 (as mentioned by others, it is a tribute, more than a cover of the Pink Floyd song. Covers are just a mimic. Tributes are made to sound like a Nightwish song, while staying close to the original. It's *amazing*!)

this was the fifth song of the show, with Floor being introduced after the second song; she had the audience eating out of her hand.....usually not mentioned, but after Emppu's guitar solo, Jukka's insane double bass kicks really came in.....yes, Floor IS the Valkyrie Goddess.....

Hard to believe, but as mindblowing as it sounds, that was the first time that crowd ever experienced Floor Jansen as she was in the band for only 10 months before that....
That is, unless some of them attended any of their concerts during those 10 months.
She replaced singer Anette Olzon on October 1st 2012 mid tour due to her being fired from the band.
Floor accepted the role permanently in June 2013.
Marko Hietala is the bass player/singer. He joined the band in 2001 replacing a previous bass player that didn't sing. Marko also has his own band called Tarot and he's the lead singer.
Yes, he sings in many other songs and actually takes the reins in a couple by himself...

As you probably already know, Marko Hietala (bass guitar) also sings. Yes, he's got a voice! If you want to hear more of him listen and watch Nightwish's song The Islander (live at Tampere 2005). That's pretty much Marko's song. Or if you don't mind something a bit older and even better you like Pink Floyd, Nightwish performed their cover of High Hopes and Marko sings solo in this one.
I really really recommends you this two songs!
Another great one. Your face tells it all and we all feel the same way. My body reacts to Floors voice the same way, full body chills through the whole song. If you like Floor and Marko singing together I will recommend to jump on Gabriels list to a song 7 Days to the Wolves at Wembley arena 2016, it is my absolute favourite song by Nightwish. Now,... The Bass player : Marko Hietala "The Viking" is a Finnish heavy metal vocalist, bassist and songwriter (sadly not part of the band now).
Internationally, best known as the former bassist, male vocalist and secondary composer to Tuomas Holopainen, of the symphonic metal band "Nightwish". He was also the vocalist and bassist as well as composer and lyricist for the heavy metal band "Tarot". He was also a member of the supergroup "Northern Kings", and portrayed one of the main characters in Ayreon's 2013 album The Theory of Everything.

Marko is a great, versatile guitarist and vocalist! I love his voice! Try the song "The Islander " live at Tampere. He is the lead vocalist. He also sings on "The Poet and The Pendulum".... " I Want My Tears Bank"...and other songs!
Some of my favorites are on the two CD and DVD from the "Decades Tour" live in Buenos Aries. I also am getting the CD of the "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" Album....and the song by the same title is pretty darn heavy.
I am sure others on here have an even longer list of their favorite NW songs! One thing I have noticed...every song that I have heard from NW is exceptional! There isn't a single song of theirs that I have heard over the past two years that is just "so, so!" They're all great!

For Marko singing alone try 'The Islander' - Tampere (2015).
When you say the guy on the guitar who sings I think you are referrring to Marko Hietala, he is their Bassist and regularly contributes vocals for Nightwish. He has sung lead in previous groups and side projects. He also sings lead in a few Nightwish songs, "The Islander" comes to mind.
This is the original epic sound of old school Nightwish... Marco Hietala, the bass player that did the secondary vocals on these songs was a lead singer in his former band. So they really had some high level vocal talent. Since the Wacken concert they have added Troy as a multi instrumentalist but he does some singing now too. Keep on going with Gabriel's list, you will certainly see more Marco along the way. There are even some songs where he takes the lead vocalists role in the mix too... And do as you wish, Nightwish doesn't disappoint.
The list is only trying to guide you in the beginning. This is due to the variation in Nightwish compositions. We want you to explore and discover this amazing bands incredibly diverse repertoire. You will definitely hear much more from Marko. He was the lead singer of his previous band. Tuomas (keys) is the main composer for Nightwish. Marko…the bass player…sings quite a bit, as you’ll find. He also sings lead on a few songs (try While Your Lips Are Still Red live at Wembley, or The Islander live at Tampere). There is also a sixth member if the band…Troy…whom you’ve yet to see…he plays a variety of instruments, and he sings, as well.
