Okay a little background regarding Kratos. In GOW mythos he is FORBIDDEN from dying by his own hand, gaining a quasi version of cursed immortality. That's largely why he survived stabbing himself with the Blade of Olympus. He can potentially still die but it has to be from an outside source, not by his own hand. You can thank Athena for that.

The last shot was his blood trail leaving the area he didn't die. To learn what happened in between 3 and "4" its a comic you can look up. It doesn't explain everything but some things.

No it does, he did to give hope to humanity and not the gods because he knows that they’ll be the ones who’ll be able to use that power and that the gods would ABUSE the power, it’s just another thing of him showing the gods they’re to drunk over there own powers that they can’t use it properly(HUMANLY & POSITIVELY)
And to add on to that, they weren't intending to explain the next games because back in the day, it was always questionable if success is a thing after sales begin and go on for a bit. He killed himself for humanity to have hope due to the gods being abusive, yes. But when he ended up gone in the afterclip, it was just a cliffhanger waiting to see if the public wanted a sequel. And sure enough, that simple. Woohoo. And on top of that sure enough, we did get a sequel. They just intentionally left it mystery for curiosity of our receiving of the game.

For the story of the next God of War (2018) I recommend doing 30-45 minute episodes. It's a much longer story than the previous games so will take you a while to get through it

I don't think that'll work tbh, you'd basically have to watch the entire game since for one thing, its filled with cutscenes, and for another, the conversations in between the cutscenes are super important to the story and characters. At that point they may as well just play the game

I always read it as a blood eagle after having played the newer games. As a nod to Norse traditions, but that’s just me.
@@nickime3000 after god of 3 came out, I read they had plans to go to Egypt before Norse. There was early footage of kartos running in Egypt. Although it's more associated with Greek mythology, the phoenix has it's origin to Egyptian mythology. It's also another hint that kratos wasn't going to die or stay dead.

He ends up Egypt , encounters a prophet kinda dude talking to him about destiny. He doesn’t care (cause he’s kratos) fight some giant bass crock kills it then another one comes and leaves the people to die cause doesn’t care. Time goes on. He gets dragged by some wolves or w/e to Norse then comic go empty (or I ain’t do enough research after)

Like how he can’t get rid of the The Blades of Exile so he just hides them. It has to do with it being forged from primordial fire so it’s like… Godly universal or something. That’s also hinted the conversion he has with the fire giant/titan that starts Ragnarok (spoiler sorry)

Heyy! I really enjoyed the Greek games and GOW2 is still probably my favorite of the entire series. Here are 2 very good vids for the Norse games. The same 2 I had recommended a couple week ago and you told me to send them again when you were done with the Greek games as a reminder. Like a couple other people have said, Its probably best to do atleast 30 or 45 min episodes for the Norse games cuz they are very long. Looking forward to them!

If I remember correctly what they cut out was a scene going back to the very first game when he decided to jump off that very cliff saying “There is no hope left” or something like that which explains the blood trail off the cliff, it’s been a long time so my memory on that is quite vague

You was fighting zeus then the screen started shaking and it was more gradual then she made it to the top, the only otheR thing that wAs cut was in zeus death the screen turns red from blood but the o button remains and you can keep pressing it infinitely…the game won’t continue till you stop pressing the o button so some people stayed on that screen for a minute symbolizing you as the player letting out kratos rage…kratos only stops punching when you stop pressing o
Yeah they missed the last scene in the video you guys watched where they show the platform again where kratos body were but in this new scene the sword was still there but there was no body and there was blood mark going till the end of platform. Showing maybe he was not dead and crawled his body into flooded world or someone dragged him and took him from there

He swim before falling into Egypt and traveled that land before coming across a village and fighting a giant hippo he also dropped his blades but they kept coming back like during the hippo fight he gains the will to fight used the blades then traveled to Midgard then etc
The light at the end of the horizon is actually the border to enter the norse land and if you notice by Kratos blood he drags himself into that direction
I'm loving this series.
Much like how the Gods released some destruction in their deaths, Kratos had hope in himself, so by his death he gave his world Hope, in hopes that in all that destruction there is something good that will come out of it.

The story of what happened after three and before 2018 game is explained through a comic book i suggest reacting to the explanation of the book to get to know what kratos went through to look like that
Kratos didn't die because there is a curse on him that prevents him from killing himself. Others can kill him but be can't himself.
Oh the og video cut the part in the "shadow realm". In that part Kratos sees moments from his past including the moment when he killed his family, except this time you get to see his wife and daughters perspective, its very sad when you head Kratos daughter asking her dad not to kill them. In the background you can hear lots of the people that Kratos has killed talking. That moment is when Kratos learns to forgive himself.

Okay quick run down. Gow 1-3 take place in Greek mythology but after kratos stabbed himself to release the power of hope to save humanity he survives his wounds and wonders around the world until he eventually somewhere along the way he made it to Scandinavia aka Norse Mythology and a lot of time has passed since his greek days cause i think it was confirmed kratos is over 1000 years old by the point of gow 4 and his new journey is with his new son Atreus.

They allway’s say “spartan” or “mortal” and Zooooouuuuz say “son” Hades calls him nothing he just said wat Kratos did to him also Poseidon. Hercules said “brother”. Only Athena called him Kratos
What they skipped in that bit in the darkness and hope bit, was Kratos using hope to burn away the worst moments of his life. Symbolically forgiving himself in a way and letting go of the pain and fear. Which gave him the strength to slip out and of course, kill Zeus.
Also since Kratos killed basically EVERY incarnation of death personally, he's not to die. It's just out of the cards for him.

Kratos is cursed to not be rid of his memories of slaughtering his family. He is cursed to never be able to die by his own hand cause thst would be an easy way out. They don't explicitly explain it clearly in the games but you are able to figure it out if you played close attention to the details.
The god of war comics takes a peak into his life after GOW3 but before GOW (2018).
Yeah there's chaos at the end of gow3 but Greece does recover, and Kratos obviously doesn't die, and even travels for many years, even passing through Egypt. Nobody is sure why Kratos can't die, my theory is that when he absorbed the ashes of prometheus, he also took his curse. He can get to the edge of death, but then he heals/revives.

Athena was selfless, she puts others before herself, she just wanted to protect olympus and she cared for kratos, she always wanted to help him out.
She also had love for him, but never crossed the line because of loyalty to Zeus.

Though her heart was in the right place, she kept a lot of information from Kratos because of Zeus. There was even time Athena crossed Zeus on the sky, but Kratos had too big a target on his back for it to not go unnoticed. She too manipulated Kratos for unspecified reasons but whatever the reason, Kratos said "I may be a monster, but I am YOUR monster no longer."

Gow 3 end with him on the mountain and then credits rolled a cut back the mountain and his body was gone so we all knew that he got up and walked away so I was like wait wait he got back up we all we all knew he wasn't dead also God of War 4 takes place above like a century or so give or take 1700 maybe even 17,000 it's hard to tell with being Immortal Greek mortal and Olympian God hes got good genetics

If you played the game and watch all the way to the end it's going to show trail of blood and Kratos is gone. His body healed. He still has the power of the gods in him.

So how mythology works in this universe is that gods only control their respective geographical areas. - Greece is for Greek mythology and only affects Greeks, Nordic areas is under Norse mythology, Egypt is under Egyptian mythology, so on and so forth. As a god, he has the ability to travel between these realms, and other gods have done that before too. The gods know other gods in other places exist
Okay to fill in the blanks here Athena throughout the whole thing was trying to get her hands on the power of Hope and become omnipotent in order rule over Humanity she was trying to BS Kratos into giving it to her but Kratos giving her track record with her saw through it so he gave the power to the hope to humanity so they can restore themselves and rebuild in order to keep it out of her hands so she knows like to be manipulated and disappointed at the end

Like everyone else said, it shows a blood trail, but they fuckin' cut it lol. It was supposed to show the bloodstain where he stabbed himself, then the camera slowly pans to show the blood trailing off towards the edge as if he crawled away, then it shows the aftermath. But, the way it's edited, it cut directly to the edge to show the chaos.
Also, as I'm sure you can guess, Kratos beat Zeus's ass for longer but it was also cut lmao. Bro got like 30 licks in until the screen turned red.
