A baby born at 24 weeks weighing less than a jar of spaghetti sauce has finally been able to go home after nine months in the NICU. Mom Brittany Johnson, from Baltimore, Maryland gave birth to baby daughter Sloane via a caesarean, on May 20, 2022, with her baby girl weighing just one pound, five ounces. Sloane was born with a rare genetic mutation causing masses on her lungs and had pulmonary hypertension at birth. Brittany, 30, said as a result, Sloane spent the next few months fighting for her life at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital before she had a tracheotomy, G-tube and hernia repair surgery.

The name âSloaneâ means warrior, and it is of Irish origin. It suits her!
That's amazing information, thx for sharing
Aw
The for saying! R u Irish?
Fabulous!
Wow
That's my surname
I was born at 28 weeks, and my parents were told I would not survive. I am 74 today and doing well.
Oh my gosh! And medical intervention couldnt have been as advanced in the 1950's as it is now!
@R Smith Yes, 1948 in Canada was quite different. I could not keep down any foods. I was sent home at 2 years old to die. My parents had an old man that had a goat farm behind us. It ended up that goats' milk saved my life.
@@meandcaryn amazing! Praise God for that man with the goat farm!

My son was born at 27 weeks and 5 days and I too was told he was not going to make it...he's now 10 years old and doing greatđ. Thank God
i was born at 23 weeks, weighed 1 pound 4 ounces and the docs said that i would be deaf, blind, paralysed, i would have heart problems and soo many other issues with my health but with the mercy of God i am here serving and praising him and living a normal life no health issues at ALL
Praise God!

My baby brother was born at 23 weeks only weighing a pound. He has so many surgeryâs and diagnosis I canât even count. In the nicu they give you beads for every surgery, operation, diagnosis etc. that a baby gets, our beads are longer than two bed rooms put together đ, we where in the nicu the longest out of all the other babies and it was disheartening, but he passed through all odds. They said he would never be able to walk, talk, see, hear, and that he wouldnât even eat be able to eat without a feeding tube. Yet he is now 8 and can do all those things â€ïž
â€
I can relate to this story myself. My heart goes out to this family of this little miracle baby. Reason I can relate is I have a set of identical twin boys myself who only weighed in at 2 lbs and 1 lb 4 1/2 ounces. They were born early as well and they are now 18 years old. My 2 lb son came home when he was 6 months old, and my little guy came home a week before his 1st birthday. They fought and fought and everyday was a miracle, because anything could have happened. But they show you what they can overcome in life. Glad that this little one got to go home. God bless the parents because you have to be strong to go through all the ups and downs with not knowing. One day you will look back on this day and explain it to them on what exactly they went through to come into this world. Sending many more blessings your way.

Oh my, I can't even imagine having your baby in the nicu for that long! That had to have been so hard on y'all! Glad to know they've grown up well!
Me and my twin sister were born early as well and i think spent 3-4 months in the nicu. We ended up developing fine and were always in top sets (this is in the UK) and always excelled at sports. Were now both 21 and very healthy. Im glad things also worked out for you, and itâs important that people know that just because you have a hard start in life doesnt mean that you wont excel later on. When you enter the schooling system all children develop at different rates anyway so there is alway a place that you will fit in. Just a message for anyone going in a similar boat, theres always a light at the end of the tunnel. You just have to find it
You are so amazing surviving such a hard year! God bless your family đ„°
I had my first child, Austyn in 04 at 22 weeks...he didn't make it. We went on to have 5 more children 3 boys, 13,9, and 8...and 2 girls who are 9 months! Yeah, they were a big surprise! I am so glad your precious miracle made it! Congratulations! I'll be praying for a happy and full life for you all!
So sorry for your first born. But the five children now are going to live life with so much joy âïžđ Godâs ways are mysterious but He knowsâ€
The two girls are going to have older brothers that their birth made everything better đ Enjoy life đŻâïž
God has given you 5 good gifts, for the 1 that He called home.
I had my baby Peter at 22Âœweeks in 1986, weighing 500gm.
He sadly never made it.
Id had a daughter in 1982 then another in 1987.
Ive now got 3 grandchildren.
Peter means a rock which is how hard I say he fought!
Last Sunday was Mothers Day and we went to the cemetery to put flowers where his ashes are.
Its nearly 37 yrs ago now but how can anyone ever forget their own babies! đ§ââïž đ
I wish this family as much good health as possible with their baby!
Sadly I know your pain ...I had 2 sons then 2 angels daughter and son đ 3 years apart ..and years later was surprised with my miracle đ rainbow baby đŒ he will be 15 in August.
I was born at 7 months, emergency c section, 3lbs 4oz, a collapsed lung and in NICU incubator for two + months.
And now, 46 years later đ
SLOANE survived against all odds, she'll get theređŁđ„đ

What a beautiful baby. May God Bless her more than he already has. As the mother of a preemie I know that each beaten obstacle is our joy like no other.

Congrats on getting out of the Hospital omg the baby is so cute and getting through that hard time with your baby going through that, God Bless your Family
All Iâm thinking about is the hospital bills for 9 months in the nicu đ
†There is no better feeling than finally being able to bring your baby home from NICU. Those days were the hardest and most heartbreaking days of my life. I only left her for 1 hour each day while she slept to run home to shower, change, and pack pajamas for the night and clothes for the next day.
That was my mother when my brother and I were born months early. The nurses had to tell her to go home. We are both doing well 24 years later.
I experienced the same with my son whom I was told was gonna die...he's 10 years old now! They have purpose in this worldâ€
Thatâs such a blessing. My twin girls born at 24 weeks would be 15 in august if I had known what the pain was and got to the hospital on time.đą
Praise God I got two little boys who I love immensely.
I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm praying for you đ€đ€
I'm SO sorry for your loss of your sons. đ
Iâm sorry for your loss. â€
My cousin was born 3 1/2 months early. She has nearly reached her due date and she has come from 2 lbs to 4 1/2. She is our little fighter. Stay strong Islaâ€â€
I unfortunately lost my daughter, she weighed 1 pound 0.7 ounces!! Congratulations beautiful!! You have a warrior
Chanel Porter Sorry for your loss but hope you find comfort in knowing your daughter is in heaven. My son and his wife miscarried their first baby at 14 weeks. It was a boy and they named him Joseph. I am praying that this Mother's Day won't be as difficult as the day of her miscarriage for her.
My son is almost 26 now and I remember those months we spent in the NICU like yesterday. He was 4 pounds then, now heâs built like a full blown action figure! đ„Čđđ„Č CONGRATULATIONS đ
I can relate with this because I had a 28weeks premature baby girl who is a beautiful mother of six children today, all the odds were against us but she survived.
Happy mother's day everyone â€
It is something about one story giving hope to everybody that resonates to all. One story can be so powerful in defining your thoughts, beliefs and ideas that hope is there to stay

They sent her home with an LTV, I'd be crying too... These kids are fighters, champions before their time.
They sent her home with what? I don't understand
What's LTV
I was born three months early and weight 2 lbs 3 ounces. Iâm now 32 and of average height and weight. Way to go baby Sloane
I was born at 24 weeks, 1 lb 11 oz and spent 98 days in the NICU. Iâm now 24 and going to school for my masters in social work â€ïž. I have cerebral palsy and a service dog đâđŠș
My twin brother and I were born prematurely. We weighed 5 pounds combined. He weighed 2 pounds and I weighed 3 pounds. We both stayed in the hospital for a month and then were able to go home. Itâs heartwarming to know she was finally able to take her baby home.
Crying tears of joy for her and her parents đâ€ïž
Praise God !! đđŒđ„ș she is a beautiful miracle baby đ
BEAUTIFUL! May God continue to bless you and your family â€
I have an almost identical story! I was born at 24 weeks but born at 1 pound FOUR ounces and I had to stay in the NICU for the first 4 months of my life right after I was born. I weighed the same weight as a loaf of bread :) I was also born without skin and also had to get multiple surgeries including heart surgery and I also had a hernia. we both have a very close story indeed!
Thank God! Hope you are healthy without any long term issues
Congratulations to the new family !! This beautiful little girl is a fighter & she WON !!! Iâm so happy for all of you ! Hereâs to đ„ her happy, healthy future !
My brother was born weighing 1lb 12oz. I remember seeing him for the first time and couldnât believe how tiny he was. Now heâs 28yrs old. â€ïž
Praying for your sweet baby and you too. â€ïž
*I had friends who had a son born at 24 weeks in the late 80's. He lived several months before passing and was the only infant funeral that I have ever attended. This video brought tears đ of gratitude to my eyes. I am so VERY grateful that they are now able to save these precious little ones that are born before their time!!* đđ
I was born 25 weeks and was 2lbs 1oz and husband was born 27 weeks and was 3lbs both of us were in NICU for 8 weeks. We are now in our 30s and had 2 preemies of our own who are now 9 and 2. I LOVE seeing stories like this!! She's gonna be a strong little warrior!!
Bless their hearts! Prayers for your family in the future
God bless and keep this baby safe!
God is soo good ALL THE TIME đđœ
I have a friend who just yesterday delivered twins at only 23 weeks. Both weighed just over a pound. Itâs a miracle they are okay for now, they have a long road ahead of them but seeing stories like this give me hope that my friends babies will be okay â€â€
Me and my twin sister were born in Feburary and were supposed to be born in march
Good job to mom, dad and all the medical staff that saved this baby!!! Itâs amazing how far we have come in medical skills. I hope one day she is able to wean off the vent and trach and live a fulfilling life!!! (Even if she remains trached and vented I hope her life is good, I think itâs obvious she is very well loved and that makes an ENORMOUS difference!!!)
I am happy that the baby is out of the nicu and going home. Bless her little soul
Congrats to this little fighter..shes here to make big difference on earthâ€đȘ
You got this little one keep on fighting â€. I weighed 1lb 9 3/4oz 4 months premature spent 6 months in the hospital until I could go home I had tons of surgeries as well. The dr told my parents that if I were to make it I wouldnât be able to do much of anything because id be handicapped in some way. Iâm currently 36, 5â5 and 150lbs, have a child of my own, was in the fire service for 10 years and played sports for most of my life. I was a Miracle baby and beat the odds and most definitely proved that Dr wrong.
The best feeling in the world is getting to take them home from the nicu! I still cry when I look at mine sometimes and I tell him all the time Iâm proud of how strong he is. He was born 3lbs and now weâre up to 8. Sheâs gonna do great!
Yes! So glad your baby boy is home strong with you. YAHUAH has strengthened your baby and baby Sloane, perhaps to do great things for Him! HalleluYAH! đđ€
"Look, children are an inheritance from YAHUAH, The fruit of the womb is the reward."

Congrats... Our little guy came at 34 weeks and is technically due next weekđ he was 3lbs too and now we're upto 5lbs...
Wow congratulations Iâm glad the baby is doing well Iâve been thinking exactly where you are except I had twin girls at 24 weeks you have a miracle baby May God bless you and your family
When I was a little girl, next door was living a family! The lady was expecting and, when she had the baby heâs weighs was 11/2 pounds! He slept in a shoebox! đ
WOW what an amazing little warrior. Congratulations
Bravooo! Zdravi i srecni bili! Pozdrav iz Srbije!
Girls are resilient strong and over comers ! I know I had twins at just 25 wks ! A 1 and 2 lbârs totally healthy just tiny! Spent 5 months in NICU AND IN 2 1/2 months my blessings will be 20 yrs old! We serve an Awesome God ! Remind Sloane that she is a child of God and watch her become the Child God created her to be! Drs will be speechless but you both will know Who is watching over her. Best wishes ! God bless you all . Happy Motherâs Day!
My baby girl, Hope, was born at 23.5 weeks. She was 1lb 6oz. 12.5 inches long. Her IV was longer than her body. She had only one brain bleed and it went away on its own đź I had a 1% chance of living and they gave my baby girl a 10% chance. We fought so hard and I'm so proud of her. She is now in early college at her high school/college. She will graduate high school with her associate degree. She is going to be a veterinarian †The only logical explanation for our survival is God. He wanted us here a little longer and he gave us life. I love seeing videos like this and it makes me want to tell others more about our story. Praise God and love each other bc we are not promised tomorrow â„ïžâš
We just went thru that. What a relief & congratulations â€â€â€â€
Having been a NICU family but for much less time i can only tear up hearing this story. Such joy to take the little one home! Happy for them all â€
I know what it is like to be a preemie because I was born 4 to 5 months early and was born 1 poundd 4 oz. I had a lot of surgeries and a heart murmur and a lot of stomach issues and a colostomy bag and I died a couple times and had to be revived and I was in the hospital for 6 to 7 months. My right eye, I am totally blind in my right eye, and can see a little bit in my lefteye, but I could see a teeny bit but not much so I alsohave retinopathy of prematurity. I am very thankful and grateful that Iâm alive and I wish and hope and pray that preemies can make it more and more as time goes on!
Thank you to all NICU docs and nurses!!!!!!
AMEN!!
CONGRATULATIONS on your new baby girl God Bless her with life.

Yet anti-lifers will have you believe it's just a ball of cells right up until conception... Just over halfway through and look at the little Angel. Good on you little Sloane! My nephew survived being born at 26 weeks and you should see the size of him now at 15! He's a giant!!
she is going to be one of the smartest babies you ever seen. she is already a fighter, I also have a now 7 year old who was 1 pound 7 ounces at birth. by 3yrs old she was teaching herself how to speak Spanish, counting in English and Spanish every step she took. at 4yrs old she started reading at a 1st grade level. the doctors told us she would be soooo advanced as she grow and by God's plan they were right. I'm tearing up with a smile right now cause memories of a angel is still with me. you guys have an angel đđđ
Don't set the bar too high. She may feel undue pressure to be a child prodigy and overachiever. Just trust me on this. It's fine to be a proud parent, but don't put all her power in her achievements. The first time she fails, or thinks she fails, will devastate her beyond your imaginings. She will internalize her feelings of worthlessness and that can come out...uncomfortably. I KNOW you don't think I know what I'm talking about, that I don't understand how special YOUR child truly is. But I do. You don't understand how absolutely ordinary "gifted" really is.
@@ambrr_lily she set her own bar with her gift that she was personally blessed with as a parent of four the bar you set have to be by example. Her older sister is a honor row student and in every extra activity should choose. But good advice to you is if someone praise their child for what ever who are you to advise them who you do not know on what to do. That's called being negative........STOP thank you. She can't fail in my eyes her being here is enough for me.đ
Congratulations, little one. God bless that family. That baby is here for a reason â€.
Wow!!! I'll be keeping her and her family in my prayers. I just gave birth to my son about 3 weeks ago (April 30th, 2023) and he was born 5 weeks premature. I was only 35 weeks pregnant. He was born 4 lbs 8 oz. and lost just about a pound of that while fighting in the NICU. I was finally able to take him home about a week ago and since he's been home, he already put on another pound (he was 4 lbs 3 oz. when he left the hospital and now he's 5 lbs 2 oz.) I'm so glad to have my baby home with me after almost 2 weeks in the NICU and making sure to visit him at least 3 times a day so he knew I was there for him. But to anyone struggling with similar problems, I wish you all the best and I pray that God will help you through whatever it is you're going through.
Congrats mom and dad! Your little sweetheart is a BORN FIGHTER!
I WISH THIS MIRACLE GIRL A LONG, HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS LIFE!!

Praise God!! God is good and even though it seems like he's not there he's always with us through evething. I just had my daughter 6 werks early due to a car accident. It was scary and sad. When she was born I got to hold her for like 10 seconds then they took her away from me and off to the Nicu she went. I was extremely sad and heartbroken for her. She was 4 lbs. She just got to come home right befor mother day. I can't imagine having my baby in the nicu that long like this mama. It felt like forever to me with my baby. These Nicu babies are strong and fighters. I'm so happy for this mom and her baby.
God bless . My daughter was born 1lbs 1 Oz 27 weeks she is thriving in 4th grade ...keep God first đ
As a reference, her whole head and body are only as long as her mother's hand. A precious miracle. God and NICU staff are amazing.

I wish they had mentioned her daddy and not just her mama. Both parents were obviously happy Sloan went home and what an appropriate name for that little fighter.god bless them all.
I agree with u but it would be harder on the mom as she birthed her but I love this comment!!!
Perhaps he didnât want to be interviewed or was at work
