This was after the successful beginning with Rufus and then she went Solo and things started going South. I saw Her at Montreux Jazz Festival and she was so Fukt up that We Boooed Her off the stage. But it wasn’t so bad because before she left she pulled down her pants and told US to kiss her sweet Black Ass!! Back in the day it was more about singing than being a Star. The Sista’s were proud and sung or told stories that were truthful. Gladys, Etta, and Chaka Chan. They should’ve had My Lady Nina Simon and it would’ve been complete. Thanks for the music

I was lucky enough to meet Mr King in Columbia SC after his concert. He was so nice, and I said Mr King it’s our 14th anniversary and this the first one we ain’t been in a fight. He laughed so hard and slapped his knee .

Etta has so much soul. Gladys is such a lady. But Chaka’s voice... that was my time. I love Chaka’s singing, and it’s so amazing how she made it her time. She wanted to go in.

Etta - Gladys - Chaka. 3 Vocal heavyweights. You can take them and put them anywhere, and give them any song. Each Stylist can interpret a lyric with their vocal phrasing, vocal tone and ability to tell the story with clarity. You don't even need to see their faces in order to feel the "story" of the song as they sing -- you get it by their inflection (happiness, sadness, sorrow, etc.). These Ladies are professionals who know how to blend and yet give each singer "their space." You are seeing and hearing "how it's done"! Unfortunately the industry no longer puts out a lot of "quality" songs; just songs to pat your foot by or to sell records to make their money. While this may not be considered a bad thing, compared to the richness of our musical history down through the years up to that point, the musicianship of the musicians, the singers' vocals and songwriting of the past; you can listen to those songs over and over and never tire of admiring the talent, arrangements, musicians and singing skills and the way these stories were told and interpreted through song. What I'm hearing is a lot of "cookie cutter" music. Doesn't matter who's singing or playing, the songs still sound the same. Just my opinion. Be blessed
