Hello students,
In this video I am giving you a dictation of the passage titled Resources and Development which can be useful for the SSC Stenographers Gr C and D skill test. This has been taken from NCERT Geography book for Class X.
The details of the dictation are - 823 words - 9.75 mins @ 84 wpm

A thought came to my mind after taking this dictation. What is the point/use of shorthand? It is to record what is being dictated like a speech, a debate, a case verdict/hearing, a letter, etc. At what point does a stenographer needs to transcribe an essay, a blog post, a random article on a random topic from the web. I don't get it. Those latter mentioned things are not structured in the way to be dictated, they are constructed in a way to be read, they are written for the purpose of providing information to the reader.
I am a new student of shorthand, I don't have much experience but it feels odd. Even the way the shorthand course/study handbook (be new or old version), is constructed around taking speeches, debates, hearings, letters, etc,. That is the reason why there are specific contractions, phrases, grammalogues, because the way speech is "spoken".
I am losing confidence (but I am not giving up), feels a bit like being made a mockery out of shorthand, like yes we are skilled in taking down dictation, transcribing it, preparing the news/report, but that doesn't mean that we should be given any random topic, like how am I supposed to take down a dictation for a Shakespearean play.
Do exams other than SSC also provide this type of matter now? like RRB or state commissions or courts.

Many CZcams channels are saying that we aren't competent enough, it was only technical fault, nothing more than that..
So any out of context matter can't be given in skill test... It's a big mistake by them..

sir ho sake toh aap mic thoda aacha wala use kijeye please. earphones mai toh awaz theek aate hai magar agar speaker mai sunno toh clear nhi hai, muzzle hote hai sound.
