  • What is the role of a parent in today’s world? Sadhguru reminds us that nobody has ever known the best way to be a parent. However, by spending sufficient time to work on yourself, and by creating an atmosphere of joy, love and openness, you can do your best to help children grow up well.

    Just show them love and support and they will grow up to be great humans. The basis of every relation is love and care. teach them and help them take on life. nothing more required.

    This is why I respect sadhguru. He thinks beyond the dumb illusion that's been forced on us traditionally, that all parents are all saints, and children only are bad.
    Actually, the story of prahlad and narasimha avatar, which our parents told us as a kid, i realized later that it's actually telling us the opposite of tradition, that you can have bad, adharmic parents who give birth to dharmic children. In this situation , lord Vishnu did not take the side of the parent , but the side of the child. We have twisted that in the wrong way and made traditions where we hate the children and idolize the parents.
    No baby is born bad, but many adults die bad. Parents are adults, and they give birth to a baby. So whatever goes wrong in the baby is a result of upbringing only. I have seen so many amazing children raised by the most narcissistic, inhumane parents who literally see their child as nothing but a burden and will scold them unnecessarily for absolutely nothing. They use that child as a punching bag. They kill their own child mentally, without physically killing them.
    I know this because I was that child. I was silenced to be the "perfect" kid who never talked back and never acted on anything. i never got to truly enjoy my childhood without feeling prejudice or misplaced fear from my parents .
    I know it's not always the case, in fact there are kids who are too stubborn and reckless and their parents are so sweet and understanding. I honestly feel so bad for those parents.
    Now years later, I'm recovering from the immense number of mental disorders that developed in me as a result of my childhood. And I've been able to move on and find my inner child again thanks to legends like sadhguru 🙏🏼

    if you do not cultivate an identity with your child, someone else will - - especially in this age of social media. If your child does not already have a good identity upon which to stand, will he not fall for anything? Innocent questioning is great, but remember that both questions and answers are only meaningfully constructed based on a reference frame that you are starting from; otherwise how can you measure, evaluate and construct anything? Of course, your child may eventually reject the identity that you and your child crafted together, but that is not properly in your control.
    Is Sadhguru not working with all of you to craft an identity?
    Note: there are better and worse identities, and there are better and worse ways of cultivating identities. Be careful.

  • @jrettetsohyt1
    @jrettetsohyt1 Před rokem

    Identity does not entail prejudice - - or do you think that once they develop an identity that they then become prejudiced?
    Identity does distinguish between self and other, but isn’t this the necessary set up for love to flow? A river That has no separation between starting and ending points does not flow. Difference is what makes love possible and meaningful, though it also creates the risk of hate. We are only able to consciously love ourselves because we are self conscious, conscious of our consciousness, implying a multiplicity of consciousness/self within us.
