IS-6 side armour really is something special. It detects being shot then grows non-euclidean angles and bounces the round into the fucking negative zone.
Always aim below the track with a side shot like that, always pens and if it doesn't kill, it'll crit
@jeremydorfschmidt1088 doesn't change the fact that it stops things it shouldn't stop at point blank, I shot it once in that side armor with my m48 and it somehow turned his track yellow
It's a 120mm plate at an angle that's more than 45°.
to be fair, he shot the absolute worst spot on the is 6 side, the turret side can be penned easily, and the lower side can also be penned with ease even when angled a bit by the 100 mm

I remember reading somewhere when the Free French forces were given Shermans, the tankers welded Somua plates onto them

@@LegoStarHawk98the tankers who crewed Somua's were really proud of their machines so when they got Shermans they unbolted the Somua build plates and welded them to their new Shermans like you said.
You can see several on FFF Shermans, normally on the front glacis, in period photos.

This is my 64th attempt at asking spookston to play the t32e1. Man fighting competent french players is hard
especially any of the fast french tanks (amx-50 and the damn light tanks). I am grinding Russia 6.3 right now and every time I go up against French tanks I die.
I love the Somua. You HAVE to play it aggressively. Because of the reload, and relatively decent mobility, executing a flank on the enemy team can win whole games if you're fast and accurate enough.
You should totally play the type 62, it’s basically a mini rat T-54

Yeah no, both the Lorraine and AMX-50 (which should be 7.3) are much faster than it, the armor of the Somua doesn't mean shit when it has the biggest weak point out of any heavy tank in the game

Genuinely one of the best parts of the french autoloader tank line up is the camos/livery sets they can get. They're all such good aesthetics.
8:33 You are right. There is a picture from the war in Ukraine which shows a Msta-S destroyed. Not only does it appear that the propellant detonated, but the projectiles also detonated, leading the the complete destruction of the turret, with the gun lying about 10-20m from the hull.
I am once again request a video of the Type 75 SPH, because I think a 155mm with over 9kg of explosive filler and a 10 second autoloader at 6.3 would be hilarious

So glad they didn't ruin the French 7.3 lineup with the last BR changes. Also I hate how the French commander now doesn't make a difference between hitting a target and killing a target. I wish he said "cible détruite" when you kill something. Also 4s reload is hella satisfying to watch, you should do it again in the SK-105/JaPz.K A2 (Day 76)

Okay, so! For anyone who might play this vehicle, there are certain covers such as those found on Seversk-13 city road that are capable of fully blocking off your weak turret armor and only showing them your gun and the actually surprisingly strong upper turret armor. I myself had a game, on attack and defend on Seversk-13 where I camped in the middle of the map in this sort of position where I hid my weak turret sleeve and only exposed the gun and the only times I got penned was the cupola, and of course had a butt ton of kills. You can play this thing hull down, but you have to pretty damn picky about cover. So you got that wrong, Spookston!

I would love to see you play the M47 (105/55) OTO. it's the only varient with a 105mm canon instead of 90mm, so it gets access to different shells. it used to be 7.3 like all the other version but Gaijin decided to move only the Italy one up to 7.7 in the recent patch

Hey Spooks, you should try the M47, I dont know much about it but I feel like it's the least played of all the Pattons, also looks cool
as an M47 user (my best tank according to my stats) it’s better than the M48 in terms of mobility, it gets the same shells minus HESH, gets a coaxial .50 which has saved my life more times than I can count, a turret that’s actually very low profile and a lower BR than the M48 (7.3 vs 7.7), downside is the hull isn’t as troll-y as the M48 but honestly the extra crewmember is worth the trade-off
so all in all? yeah, good tank

Anyone who doesn't own the Somua is really messing up. It's such a good tank, and the french 6.7-7.3 BR lineups are just insane in general. Pair it with the AMX-50 premium from the marketplace and there isn't much you can't deal with. Really the only fault is the incredibly long first stage replenish time, and how careful you need to be to not deplete it.
I bullied an entire german team by myself on 2-cap Advance to the Rhine the other day without any effort.

How is not spending $40 for a SINGLE TANK 'messing up'. Also, right now the ONLY two tech tree 6.7 French vehicles are the AMX-13 and the AMX M4. How is that an insane lineup? French 7.3 is also not amazing unless you spend that $40. 7.3 doesn't have any good air support options either. No thanks.
@@Igzilee you can still use lower tier french vehicles, they’re still strong lol like the M4A4 SA50 has 200mm of pen with a 10 sec reload also you can just use the F4U-7 or AD-4 as CAS or if you dont mind going to 7.7 then you can use the F-84G it really doesnt matter when the F4U-7 is literally the best corsair in the game in terms of CAS and can carry 3x1000 lbs bombs and 114 SNEB rockets that are easy to aim and have 400mm of pen, not to mention the 4x20mm M3s that are so fucking busted ever since the realshatter fix and what do you mean french 7.3 isnt amazing? Its fucking superb
@@moery2435 You face so many jets and radar SPAA at 7.3 that prop planes are practically useless, especially when they are weighed down by ordnance. Not to mention your own SPAA is borderline useless as well. And the M4A4 SA50 at 6.7 or 7.3? Nice joke. It doesn't have anything going for it that high. And a 7.7 lineup is 7.7. Not 6.7, not 7.3.

You should try Panther F, it's in my opinion a very underated Tank. It has a Range Finder, a very good gun and it is a Panther so very fun to play
Not only does it have a range finder it has a shorter barrel and a quicker reload and I guess thicker side armour but it's still mostly useless

You didnt pen the is6 cause it was angled. It definetely was over 15 to 20 degrees. You should also shoot above the tracks on the flat bit before the upper angled portion, you are gonna pen easier that way.

If you're having allergy troubles, I highly recommend getting an air filter for your room. On my bad days Zyrtec wasn't enough so I decided to get an air filter. Helps so much to the point that I don't need to take it most days. Honeywell makes some good ones.
You can try the swedish t-28 because its pretty strong at 1.7
If you thought that non pen on the IS-6 was frustrating, I got killed in my T32 by an IS-6 while my turret was angled. The effective thickness was over 1000mm of armor yet it still penned and killed me. Still has me confused.
I've had a King Tiger face hug my T28 and he was able to kill me through my 305mm plate. His round spawned inside my tank, bounced off my 305mm armor, did a 180 degrees bounce and flew into the crew then exploded. This was like 5 years ago though lol.

(Attempt #16) I am once again requesting that you play the Italian 90/53 M41. It is killer in CQC and can pen tanks most others can't with its shell (perfect for bullying KV-1s). It is surprisingly survivable if you don't get strafed and is a good TD... when you aren't reloading
Spookston, something I have learned is to unlearn that spawn point/uptier thing. It will never give you useful intel, and it only serves to either demoralize you or make you overconfident.
Bruh, I feel you on those allergies. Week or two ago I had hives all down my arms and normally a single Claritin melt clears it up. NOPE. Took Claritin, Benadryl, and Zyrtec damn near every day and it wasn't clearing up until suddenly it just went away a few days ago.

I assumed the CAS spot was the free space in Spookston Video Bingo.
Also the biggest weakness of this next to the really weak turret ring is the first ammo reload. It only has 8 round in the first ammo rack. And it takes so fucking long to reload it. It's easier to just drive to a point and the ammo gets instantly reloaded into the autoloader.
I honestly want the Spookston Bingo Card now. Especially with Spookston classics like "Where did my round go?" or "I hate heavy tanks"
The allergy question is one I asked for so many years until I figured it out. Claritin and Zyrtec help prevent your body from triggering a histamine reaction. Once the histamine reaction starts, though, it will basically self-feedback regardless of whether or not the allergen is present or the trigger is still happening. So if you wait too long to take one of the allegra/claritin/zyrtec/whatever 24 hour allergy medicines, you have to take a benadryl to stop the histamine loop.
If you wake up and kind of feel like maybe your nose is going to be annoying possibly today, take a zyrtec immediately. Do not pass go, go directly to Zyrtec. Stand up and walk to the Zyrtec. If you're experiencing the symptoms of a full on histamine response, you're too late for anything to help but benadryl (diphenhydramine hcl).
If you don't want to be a benadryl zombie, take zyrtec early. If you missed the window, it's either have allergies pummel you OR take a benadryl and get relief in 30-60 minutes but also become groggy and slow.
Those other medicines really do work if you take them BEFORE the allergy response, but they do basically nothing after it's already rolling.
The non pen on the is6 happened because it was in a hole that angled its side armor up increasing the already decent angle

They did something to the pen values. I was playing with a T|26-E5, and I got a perfectly flat, point-blank side shot on a king tiger and it just non-penned. I then non-penned a light tank.

The first match is the only time i've seen solid shot oneshotting most of the time. At least before at some point they've been nerfed a lot; that still doesn't make sense since aphe doesn't make that much of a difference (at least for 76mm and less) (according to british trials) (but i'm sure it does when the tnt equivalent is more than 50 grams) (but it still has to do a lot more damage especially since the loss of one or two crew members doesn't do that much in this game)

Spookston Love your Videos, i found that the video you made a while ago where you tested how many german players specificly tiger players knew where to shoot the jumbo (?) i think, if you would take the jumbo and put the number 4 decal 2 times but flip one of them and put them so that it makes an arrow pointing towards your weakspot, then you can do the same statitics as you did in that old video but with the arrows

This thing is absolutely crazy. Amazing gun with absurd autoloader, cracked ass mobility, good survivability especially if they cant hit the neck weakspot.
