The Swedish BT-42 is one of the goofiest rat tanks in War Thunder. It's just a BT-7 with a howitzer on it, but it's so much fun.

I love the fact that the Girls und Panzer community did a crowdfunding to pay for a roof to protect the last BT-42
Well they actually saved the tank and helped refurbish it to prevent it from being abandoned and rusting to death
Not just the BT-42 but all of the vehicles the museum had that was located outdoors

I know this is a joke, but realistically the Finns had nothing of major value to add to any modern tank, the BT-42 was the only major Finnish tank modification and it wasn't a very good one...

Fun fact: Because Girls Und Panzer Der Film had the BT-42 scene, a very dedicated fan decided to visit the last surviving BT-42 and played the Kantele instrument while in cosplay and sitting on the tank, later on, hearing that the Parola armored museum had trouble getting funds to build a roof over the historical tanks to preserve them, she begged her father to donate a substantial amount to the museum for the funds, and because of this they managed to get enough funds to build the roofs over the tanks, and in the museum, the tour guide will actually mention the anime by name, and the story about the loyal fan.

5:50 there’s an annoying feature that doesn’t seem to happen every time, but if you leave a game early if during that round you finish research on a modification any extra research that would normally be able to be put towards other modifications is instead lost to the cosmos
It happens if you leave eraly and go into another game, thats why I always wait for the game to end and play a different nation in the meantime or do other stuff
He probably had research helicopters using ground vehicles and it will only put the RP you gain into the current module and nothing else

Didn't the heat shell for this thing have a fuse that wasn't set correctly or something? If I recall correctly it was not effective against tanks at all
I don't know if that was the exact issue with the HEAT shell. But it is damn near useless it feels like. Mostly since Gajin nerfed most HEAT shells
Yes, IRL they tried to copy I think it was German HEAT. But because of the differences in launch velocity and spin they didn’t arm

The heat shell on this thing makes it totally worth it. Decently fast reload for derp Canon, at such a low BR that the heat show will go through one side and out the other of most vehicles while tearing up everything inside. It's an amazing vehicle that can even be brought up higher tiers
since you're in the mood for silly tanks you should play the ikv72, its as fast as the bt7, it has 20 degrees of gun depression, and neutral traverse, the aphe has a massive 270g of he filler and its ay 1.7, overall very fun td
Sweden's early tier HE is one od few HE shells that actually normally work most of the time for its tier.
Although with HE, Gajin has this wierd thing to makes front plates invunerable to it. Probably for that imaginary balance they claim is realism.
As a Finnish mix I find this extremely entertaining thanks spookston hope you show more Finnish vehicles in the future 🎉
As a BT-42 enjoyer, bring majority HEAT shells. You still one shot most things, bring some HE for opentops.
The amount of HEAT in Spook's inventory grows in direct proportion to his hatred of Stuarts.
Sweden is one of my favorite tank lines, some absolutely MEME level tank design ( so of which is amazing ) and access to vehicles from major countries to make the grind a bit easier without it being a massive part of the countries roster.
the nice part of the swedish meme vehicles is that unlike italian or french meme vehicles, swedish meme vehicles can hold their own in fight at their own br pretty well

I'm surprised you didn't know, but yeah, playing any low tier vehicle with low penetration makes you learn to fear the Stuarts, as they have decent armour all around flanking them is often not enough to kill them
It's the awkward armor and the ghost on the MG that makes them annoying. Had many Skyrim battle music run-ins with them, and I would rather see a Stuart than someone who doesn't clean themself running low BR Germany or Svens.

I've also noticed something off with the match making. For me, it puts me on the same exact map, with the same capture point arrangement at least three times in a row. After the third game it finally switches to another map.
Huh. So its not only me going insane in the BVM getting penned in the lower glacis over and over and over again on the same map in 3 roes. It happens to other people too.
Oh so that's where the AT-ST comes from.

The SK-105/JaPz.K A2 is a pretty silly light tank too with its 4s reload apfsds (Day 122).
Wish it was actually good though. It's fun to snipe from an off-angle with, but that's all it's good for. You can't snipe from the backline, since you have no gun depression and you die to one hit, and obviously without stabs you can't frontline.

The interesting part is that alongside RBT-5, BT-42(and rumored finnish troop transport) is the only BT-2/5/7 variant vehicle. There are no SPGs, no tank destroyers, no ARVs, no SPAA and (what annoys me the most) no rocket artillery platforms based on BT tanks unlike whole "zoo" of things based on T-26.
Imagine BM-13N installed on engine deck of BT-7M? Or BM-8-24 installed on RBT-5 turret that would allow it to retain main gun? In other words things that will allow soviets to get their rocket artillery ability to turn for aiming more easily(even if BT doesn't have neutral steering), have better offroad capability, have at least some armor, retain machinegun and 45mm gun for defense and have high speed for shoot and scoot?
I'm not a huge ground battles fan but you're genuinely so funny and your videos are so entertaining it's tough not to watch your vids for hours

I've been playing this thing uptiered for like 4 days now and the best advice I can give for it: play it like you're in Girls Und Panzer. Never stop moving. Also don't use the HE.
Look 25,4 millimeters is exactly an inch. If the US used the metric system they surely would’ve gone for just 25 millimeters. I can’t believe that there’s anything positive about the imperial system but apparently it saves Stuarts from BT-42s
My experience with Stewarts has always been the same. For some reason they tend to be incredibly hard to kill for no reason.

that shot at 11:13 goes through a tiny hole on the enemy tank, if you slow it down to 0.25 its easier to see. So if anything pretty impressive shot even if it missed XD

11:40 The turret is, because of the way gaijin modeled it, you got 3 armor plates. The mantlet, which has a same thickness plate under it, and then again behind the tunion following the general shape of the turret.
