- There is an annoying dog in Carrie and Doug's neighborhood. Doug offers to help the owners out by walking the dog.
From Season 1 Episode 14, 'Dog Days'. The new neighbors' barking dog keeps Doug and Carrie up all night. Doug and Carrie complain to their neighbors, but Doug feels sorry for the dog when he finds out that all he needs are walks and secretly adopts it. How is that not realistic? Do you not understand how humans can recall events that have happened in the past minute? When she asks him whether he liked it or not, he can think back to the last minute of conversation and think "hm, she's right, I don't remember him saying anything about it" then say something back to her.

The more episodes I watch the more I think Doug is a good human while Carrie is not.
Doug is the sweetheart willing to do whatever, whereas Carrie is the hardass who doesn’t put up with people’s bs. It’s a good balance in a relationship otherwise Doug would be bending over backwards to do everybody’s work for them. It may seem cruel but it shouldn’t be on Doug to walk the dog. It’s the owners responsibility to look after the dog and make sure it’s needs are met, if that isn’t possible then they should give it up to a animal shelter or find someone to take it in.
