    Loved the videos and followed them to change out my daughter's turn signal stalk on her 2007 A4 Cabriolet, so now her brights work. Thank you very much for posting them, super well done and very informative. One problem I have though is that when put everything back together, I tighten the nut for the steering wheel so it is tight (but by no means over-tight) and put everything back together, I now get the wheel is rubbing on the upper and lower cowlings behind it, and it is super tough to turn, and wont return by itself if you let it go after turning. Everything went back together fine, it all fits properly without forcing anything - any idea what could cause this? If i loosen the nut for the steering wheel it works better, still rubs a little bit but it will return it self, but it shifts around and feels loose...

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 4 lety

      Hey there! Glad you found the video's helpful! Sounds like an alignment issue on the upper or lower (or both!) cowls. I'd try removing those and reseating them.
      You say the steering wheel is hard to turn? Harder than before, remembering of course no power steering when engine is off. A rub on the cowl should not really effect the steering weight too much...

    Loved the video! I had to remove everything to switch out the turn signal switch but when I put my steering wheel back the steering wheel squeaks when it turns side to side and i feel resistance any way you can help or what I should look for?

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 3 lety

      First thought is it sounds like the rear of the wheel catching the upper and/or lower cowl. If so, try realigning the cowl/s and see if that helps.

    Do anyone know whether a b6 S4 steering wheel will fit on the regular A4 Avant ?

  • @gazg3.0tdi47
    @gazg3.0tdi47 Před 6 lety

    Hi Quick reply needed!!... I have purchased a flat bottom steering wheel as an upgrade to the standard b7 3 spoke.. both use the dual stage airbag so I will be putting the OEM airbag into the new wheel. This new wheel does not come with the yellow clip that is attached to the standard as shown in this video before you remove the wheel. Do I need to disconnect it from the standard wheel and use it on the new steering wheel or is this not possible? Trying to find out as much as possible before I attempt to swap the steering wheels. Thanks

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 6 lety

      Hey there! Is the new steering wheel also sourced from a B7 A4/S4/RS4? If so, you should be good to use the same connector from your old wheel, assuming that you are using the old airbag?

    Is the bit you're using an XZN/Triple Square that is used on so many VAG products or is it the obsolete ASTM B18.2.7.1M 12 spline?

    • @TotalTechnik

      It's a standard triple square, also often referred to as spline bit.

    I was wondering if I can upgrade my Audi A4 B7 steering wheel without the multifunctional buttons to a new one with the multifunctional buttons. Do you know if there are any special cable set necessary? best regards

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 7 lety +1

      Hey there! Almost certainly I would say yes it would be possible. I have
      not done this adaptation myself, but I see no reason why it cannot be
      done. You may have to upgrade a couple of components within the steering
      wheel assembly.
      I'd recommend doing some Google research or visiting one of the Audi
      forums like audi-sport.net as more info on this upgrade should be available.
      Best of luck!

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 4 lety

      Hey there! Does it use an indentical shape airbag (I'm guessing not)? You have to be careful upgrading steering wheel and/or airbags as some cars are single stage airbag, and others dual stage. The B6 platform is single stage.

    I have an Audi A4 2013 and the steering wheel has become stiff when I first got it last week it was corrected not it’s stiffer than before and difficult to turn. I asked mechanic he said he disconnected battery to fix the stiffness before when turning. Could it be due to power steering pump?

      Most of the models across the VW and Audi range use this same system. It can vary a bit with vehicle age etc, but the basic principal is usually the same.

    will a b7 steering wheel work on a b6 i hate my steering wheel i want to change it.

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 6 lety

      It's not a direct plug and play swap unfortunately. The B6 has single stage airbag, whilst the B7 is dual stage. So the airbag is the issue rather than the wheel itself. Many people have done this upgrade, but there is no guarantee that the airbag will deploy in the case of an accident, and nobody has tested it properly yet (of course).
