I'm surprised because they do that in the States too?? I honestly thought it was just America that had comprehensive care after birth lol
JOC-ASMR Tingles Steven is probably shocked of different attitudes towards mothers. Korea sounds like take great care and respect to help parents take care of kids compared to USA. Some places in USA do offer similar services, but most medical insurance providers do not cover being taught how to feed babies or how take basic care of children. They generally cover the doctor visits, vaccinations, or routine medical care. Rarely do they cover long stays in hospitals or in another medical facility. Mothers usually get the short end of the stick of just having only a few days in the hospital (since bills pile on per day), maternity leave (only if employers provide it), and are expected to learn on their own or with help of families/friends if they cannot attend local classes (if there are any nearby). There are areas with those services, but they’re mostly operated by nonprofit organizations or as classes for the community. Sometimes they are free or one may need to pay a fee out of pocket. Mothers are expected to learn through their own experience and basic medical care is valued over being taught the basics of childcare.
Right on! Also don’t forget South Korea has one of the lowest birth rates in the world so the government wants to promote mothers and encourage women to have babies.
They got like one of the lowest birth rates, so they have to put a ton of work in child care.
It depends on your insurance and also hospital whether the basics are included in the package. There are classes provided before the birth and also help by nurses and doulas…

@NXVi not all Koreans who grew up in another country are good with speaking Korean language. For example, even if the family speaks Korean, doesn't mean one can be eloquent enough especially growing up in a country who majority of the ppl speaks English.
Not a Korean but I happened to stumble this vid that an American-born Chinese noted that it's a huge misconception that doesn't mean he/she has full Chinese blood, he/she is expected to speak Mandarin. It also can be applied to other descent/nationalities.

My mum is from a small country in Africa and she speaks mostly her language to us and when she's on the phone etc...but although I've heard her speaking her language, it is almost impossible for me to speak it purely because I grew up in England and my first language is English, but I can understand although my brain sometimes lags while translating what she's saying lmao.
