    Glad we have the Trouba train!! Better keep your heads up in our zone!
    Like we say, ‘they hate us ‘cause they ain’t us!!’

      I've watched hockey since the mid 60s. In that era, he would have paid a price on his nasty hits. Don't kid yourselves younger fans, the players then would have dished out their justice with their sticks and elbows. Some of the players back then may not have been as big, but they could fight and knew how to defend themselves.
      There will always be players like Trouba around.
      As Gordie Howe once said, the players back then actually respected the other players and didn't try to end careers.

      Everyone stay tight he is the best defenseman. Ofc not every hit is going to be as clean as people wish, but he clearly is the last of his kind. Compare how he plays to back in the days, it’s nothing. If teams would keep there head up then the hits wouldn’t be as bad as they look. Players also need to learn how to take it’s better because when going into the boards or being aware if there surroundings out on the ice they seem very nonchalant nowadays. LGR

    There is nothing wrong with hit 3. Hit 2, which missed, was a clear charge if landed but instead he pumped the player who lost puck possession. End result was a successful play.
    Truba is not squeaky clean but crucifying him just because he is a good hard hitter is stupid. Targeting the head is never okay but you should be able to lay out another player in a fast paced full contact sport. Surely the receiving players have some responsibility to protect themselves, be aware of the situation, and take a hit well. If you don't agree you don't actually like hockey.

    That Jarvis hit was clean though, Jarvis was just crouched down lower so Trouba's shoulder got his head instead of his body. Of course he didnt get penalised 😂

    (Disclaimer: Rangers fan) Truba is known for hard hits in an era where hard hitting is on the decline, and this makes him a target for hate. Most of the time, Truba's hits are clean, legal hits. Most of the time. He does cross the line, but I don't think he's out there looking to hurt people on purpose. As far as the high sticking incident is concerned, I remember seeing that, and I remember Sam and Joe defending him. To me it looked more like an intentional swing at the head than accidental.

    there's a really weird dissonance between seeing the evidence that shows some of these hits are clean or unintentional, and yet still call it dirty. It just reeks of salt. The only egregious ones here are the miss on Palat and the Stone hit. Everything else is just being soft.

  • @ericduncan7908
    @ericduncan7908 Před 9 měsíci

    I’m not saying the league should go back to where you needed a goon on the same line to protect your young star I do think Troubas intent is not as malicious as made to seem.
    Most of the having his elbow up incidents are where he has activated forward to engage people. When you’re in this position and the trajectory isn’t right you try to make yourself as wide as possible so you at least slow a guy down when they’re gathering speed and going around you.
    The hit to the head on Seth Jarvis can be explain if you simply watch Jarvis’ hip orientation change in the last seconds before the check. Tribal is taller so his shoulder is naturally head level to Jarvis and him going in low and raising the shoulder through contact can be explained simply by physics if you think about how open ice hitting is predicated on getting below someone’s center of mass and launching upward at the fulcrum to use leverage to topple an opponent down to the ice first and foremost.
    The stick seems to be him locked in a battle for positioning close to the net with a grinding power forward (Fredrick) and getting his stick on the wrong side and trying to quickly get it back to forehand so as not to leave Fredric’s stick unchecked for long.
    The hit on stone is clearly dirty, idk if it’s malicious though. When your goal is to always play physically eventually you’re going to read a situation wrong or make a bad decision at some point.
    Idk I know people love watching McDavid or McKinnon gather a bunch of speed through the neutral zone and rush it in by themselves but you have to remember this is still hockey. When you sacrifice the original intention of the game for more offensive excitement you get the NFLs dumb and unequally enforced pass interference calls or the NBAs “my entire game is intending to force a foul” mentality.
