Today, we play as the United States of America, but leave all construction that the AI can do to the AI! The autonomous investment pool was meant to be the star of this playthrough, but Andrew "Monster" Jackson also weaseled his way into it.

Like this video or Andrew Jackson will cane you!
Although Andrew Jackson got his nickname "Old Hickory" from his troops he also thwarted his own assassination attempt by beating his attacker with his cane. This was after BOTH of the assassin's pistols failed to fire. There's a joke here about him being so tough even bullets are afraid of him. A man who was equal parts bad ass and an ass for his treatment of American Indians.
Or he'll steal your ancestral home and force march your family on a trail of tears.
Abraham Lincoln got assassinated in the streetsby a cane in my game
Did you forget about ck2 roleplay?
Have you given up on ck3? I always come here when there's a new dev diary, and lately nothing.
"Andrew Jackson is a monster in this" finally, a realistic portrayal of Andrew Jackson in Vicky 3.
Andrew jack beats someone to death with a cane over slavery "Andrew jackson is out of control in this playthrough"
I mean...yes, but that's how the man was.
Andrew Jackson was a great president, look it up.
This will make the lategame much less tedious.
Command Economy exists XD
@@alyssa2133 But it doesn't change much
@@Gorg465 It does change one thing: No investment pool/no pops investing in buildings, making the lategame more tedious than most of the game :D
No more having 1B pounds of investment pool in late game
Best feat ever, finally I feel like controlling an actual government instead of a economist with a private army.
Except that playing communist is cool too ngl
Yeah, but not for the ENTIRE GAME with no alternative! I really think that you shouldn't be even allowed to build anything unless you have a proper economic system. Except maybe some government infrastructure
@@512TheWolf512 true! Would love letting the pops run the economy and intervene if things go bad
@@512TheWolf512 It would be interesting if instead of building it whatever you like wherever you want you actually had some kind of voting mechanic or smt to simulate government proposal's and government rum industries etc. That of course would play differently depending on how democratic your country are. An absolutist king wouldn't ask for permission but he would have to fund the investment of his own pocket whereas a democratic country would have to idk pass a bill through the senate to invest in manufacturer. I fell like that would be cool but it may be taking away too much agency from the player
@@gabrieldossantos1116 I think the assumption is sort of that the actions of the player represent the will of the government in whatever form it takes.
So, yeah, if you're an absolute Monarch, as the player, you are essentially the king.
But if you're a historical USA, the player is the congress, president etc.
Such an abrupt end haha. Where is the traditional "See you later Alligator"?
12:10 this right here makes 1.2 totally worth it
Interestingly, I learned that in the lead up to the ACW, the main source of taxes as we think of them today were tariffs, which some erroneously argue put undue burden on the South's planter economy and was part of the motivation for war (in reality the Morrill Tariff wasn't until after the war began) BUT the actual truth of it was that the state of New York, as the center of international trade and thus income from tariffs paid for somewhere around 70% of the government's income. Just that state alone.
This is the first time in Victoria 3 where I've seen the American Civil War happen around the time it was supposed to happen and with most of the major players of the war involved too.
and it's when the player is practically doing nothing?
✨If this was a releasing patch game would score 90%+ positive revievs in steam. Awesome!
Could be nice if communist/command economies can establish an economic bureau, that handles the investment bureau but with objectives set by the player, just to make the late game scale similarly well for both play types.
Amazing! Paradox actually pulling trough and making the game better, wow!
This looks actually pretty fun, might try myself.
Incredible playthrough! Looking forward to this series.
I love this video. It shows, not just tells, what 1.2 will do when it comes out of Beta. I am excited for alpha!
Andrew Jackson just being Andrew Jackson. 😂 I see no historical inaccuracies.
What a cliffhanger 😅
Andrew Jackson was one of those people who was just an absolute monster.
Honestly, not that bad.
Amazing video as always
awesome, exactly the experiment we wanted
*Amazing* work paradox
Love it. Came for the free market; stayed for the sexy civil war.
Looks amazing!!
That's just normal Andrew Jackson Behavior 🤣
Wont the civil war break the investement pool? I thought it was a well known bug for the beta
Very cool video! 👍🏻
Awesome video
“Andrew Jackson is out of control in this play-through”
It will be fantastic! I'm very anxious for the next video.
I can't wait for the next episode
Ngl, this should be a difficult fight if it follows historical ACW. Looks like the border states which stayed with the Union flipped in this version. The loss of manpower and industrial capacity could swing the fight in favor of the Confeds.
Thank you OPB!
Me when first starting Vic 3: Omg I don't get the guide, I'm confused
Me currently (after a few months of playing Vic 3): Omg... I'm confused at how I understand the guides now
Historically, the armed forces siding with the south is more or less accurate. The historical option for Bleeding Kansas wasn't even available but I guess it would be a difficult exception to code.
Halmiton worst nightmare

FYI, you missed a spot with your colonization.
Why do all politicians immediately die when they leave office?
We don’t talk about that 👀
The CSA took 56% of your GDP, that’ll be a difficult fight for sure. You did keep 61% of your population though.
This patch made vic3 better than vic2
“Ohio, which is a very dangerous state”
Oh no, the outside world is starting to know about what’s happening in Ohio…
im gonna make the game create the economy makes a key government tax decision.... i cant believe this happened i didnt want this to happen. Funny.0:
Actually tarrifs were pretty high in this time, Democrats wanted them low, as it made up a large part of Government revenues and to stimulate American industry. It had mixed success.
Sadly you have almost no choice to avoid this mechanic, if you don't choose command economy. And on top it slows down progress a hell lot. In my last playthrough I've built 10% of buildings I normally build at the same time period, because not only do you loose construction capacity, quite often the capacity gets halved without any information why this is. I've had to roll back to the main branch. I like the idea, but I don't like that you have no choice. You can't even allocate areas for auto build. It doesn't make sense that factories get built in colonies. It abolutely makes sense not to incorporate provinces, but it doesn't make any sense to build high value factories there.
No idea if they implemented it in the beta but didn't they say you can disable automatic building in the game rules?
@@GayleHarrahs I am not sure, because there is private construction and automatic building. Because there are two functions, I didn't check if both fall under same rule. I just know, that any law except command economy has private construction allocation, meaning even if you can disable the building itself, you will loose up to 75 percent construction compared to how it is in the main branch.
This mechanic is the most fun and best mechanic ever, I am SO happy it got added, I have no clue why anyone would oppose it, it is the key to fixing Victoria 3
@@oracle372 You can love it as much as you ever like, my comment is not about the mechanic as such (because it is a good idea - even it doesn't make sense, if you let the game play itself, why playing it?), it is about NO CHOICE.
@@pakabe8774
It does make sense,it’s the most fun thing ever to have a realistic economy system where every pop is selfish trying to maximize its own profit and political power, while you still play the game, extensively so, it doesn’t just let the game play itself, it just adds to the experience.
Also, there is choice, I think you can enable or disable autonomous investment. Though personally I wish they didn’t even make it an option. It’s just a no-brainer to have free market mechanics
per capita tax isn't taxing dividents...
Indeed!
It does impact dividends indirectly by requiring a higher wage for workers to sustain their SoL, but I mostly flipped to consumption-based taxation for the meme - it's the slimmest the state can possibly be in Victoria 3!
This wasnt as much a full free market playthrough as much as a us politics playthrough.
Funny how all that press about Communism being OP in this game is gonna be obsolete now lol
You lost KY. RIP
Thanks for saying the US is the greatest nation on Earth! Much love from America
I think he was intentionally being over the top mate.
Another American here, he was totally being facetious lol.
Brother Alabama ain’t pronounced like Allah
the game sucks still.
They actually fixed the civil war slightly!
This game can't simulate the American Dream. It doesn't let you take an active enough role in committing atrocities.
If you can't use your fruit companies to control central american countries, what'e the point?
