- Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong joins 'Squawk Box' to discuss the SEC's approval of bitcoin ETFs, what it means for the investing community, what's next for crypto, and more.
The fin-Market;s have underperformed the U.S. economy as fear of inflation hammers the prices of stock;s and bonds. My portfoliio of $750k is down to $592k any recommendation;s to scale up my return;s during this crash will be highly appreciated.
You have to get a financial-advisor/broker to aid you diversify your portfolios to include commodities, inflation-indexed bonds and stocks of companies with solid cash flows, as opposed to growth stocks where valuations were valuations were based on future potentials earnings.
I agree, I've been in constant touch with a Financial Analyst for approximately 8 months. You know, these days it's really easy to buy into trending stocks, but the task is determining when to sell or hold. That's where my manager comes in, to help me with entry and exit points , I've accrued over $550k from an initially stagnant reserve of $150K all within 14months.
Please can you leave the info of your investment advisor here? I’m in dire need for one
MARY TERESE SINGH
You can search her on Google it won’t be a hassle to get to her reach .
I am trying to avoid making any new buys at this point in other not to get sucked into a bear market trap. It's tough making money in stocks when institutional investors are the driving force behind the selling.. although I read an article of people that grossed profits up to $150k during this crash, what are the best stocks to buy now or put on a watchlist?
A lot of folks downplay the role of advlsors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to $850k.
How can one find a verifiable financial planner? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances.
MEGHAN MAUREEN KRISTENSEN is the licensed fiduciary I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment..
As an investing enthusiast, I often wonder how top level investors are able to become millionaires off investing. . I’ve been sitting on over $545K equity from a home sale and I’m not sure where to go from here, is it a good time to buy into stocks or do I wait for another opportunity?
The professionals presently control the market since they not only have the essential business strategy but also have access to inside information that the general public is not aware of.
I agree, having a brokerage advisor for investing is genius! Amidst the financial crisis in 2008, I was really having investing nightmare prior touching base with a advisor. In a nutshell, i've accrued over $2m with the help of my advisor from an initial $350k investment.
impressive gains! how can I get your advisor please, if you dont mind me asking? I could really use a help as of now
“Leila Simoes Pinto’’ You can easily look her up, she has years of financiaI market experience.
Thank you for this Pointer. It was easy to find your handler, She seems very proficient and flexible. I booked a call session with her.
In times of market downturns, some investors may see opportunities, but it's crucial to approach decisions with caution and thorough research. Recessions pose challenges for businesses, and not all companies recover at the same pace. Diversification, careful analysis, and understanding one's risk tolerance are key to a solid investment strategy. Short-term trading strategies, capitalizing on market volatility, can be risky and may not suit all investors, as timing the market consistently is difficult. Consulting with financial professionals and conducting thorough research before making investment decisions is always recommended, recognizing that each investor's situation is unique.
Which Financial professional Do you work with or is best suitable to work with, You seem to be doing well in this ?
Financial professionals like John Desmond Heppolette often bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, helping clients develop and implement sound financial strategies tailored to their specific needs and goals. It's crucial for individuals to recognize the importance of seeking expert advice, particularly when it comes to managing investments and mitigating risks....
Thanks to the guidance of Sir John Desmond Heppolette, my investments have thrived. However, it's crucial to note that the ultimate factor influencing returns is the amount of capital invested. A substantial initial budget enhances the potential for greater gains.
John Desmond Heppolette truly appears to be knowledgeable in this field. After conducting a Google search of his full names, I thoroughly reviewed his web page, including his resume, and qualifications, which were truly impressive. I took the initiative to leave him a note and have booked a call session with him....

The SEC had to be forced to approve the spot bitcoin etfs because they were not willing to approve it and were being presumably be defiant and manipulative.
Coinbase will be favored by the courts and all altcoins previously delisted on coinbase will be re listed on coinbase.
No. They are differentiating bitcoin from everything else. Rest are mostly securities. This prediction will age extremely poorly.
@@HansSchick No. The ETFs hold spot bitcoin,
Brian is a great CEO, and COIN is a great company. Now they just need to list PEPE :-)
I don't think so! Coinbase stole a lot of customer airdrops! For example SGB and ExFi, even several month of FLR airdrops and delegating rewards (most exchanges and wallets distributed immediately) after initially promising to take part in this airdrop.
Awesome video. I didn't buy a lot, but I bought at 14,000 and now it's at 45,000. Still a hodler hoping to make a profit. Bitcoin is here to stay and the future of money

Begrudging approval is the right words there from Brian , thank heavens for gray-scale otherwise millions of retail investors would be left in the dark over approval, people can now invest with confidence
Thank you for making crypto awesome, Brian.
It is NOT just “new pools of capital”… If you hold a spot BTC etf in a Roth IRA then you can make your earnings on BTC without taxes. Im interested to see/hear if ETH (Ethereum) spot ETF’s will go through…. then if you stake ETH you earn interest, but if it’s an ETF then do you get a dividend or something? Interesting to see how that will play out… Just some quick thoughts…
unlikely a fund will stake a ETH ETF until ETH staking becomes far more secure. I dont stake my ETH for those reasons. The creator of ETH doesnt either. So no dividends on a ETH ETF.
@@meisterlymanu5214 yup. Pipe dream I know… Thought is if things get more “legit” and adopted by more and financial institutions then perhaps somehow shares in an Ethereum ETF (which would also have to get approved) might pay a dividend or something. Of course these financial institutions would have insurance and/be backed by FDIC (or some federal digital central or decentralized bank system) by then in my dream… lol. I just want to make money tax free!!!! Lol

The only place this person should be appearing in a suit is in court or before a congressional hearing explaining why it is that coinbase allows its customers to be hacked in the same manner year in year out and does nothing to fix their SECURITY ISSUES. Then once your money has been stolen due to the negligence to his company denies all liability and puts it on the customer.

These companies will be buying BTC to back their ETFs from Coinbase so these won’t be over the counter buys, if I am correct on this then that should move the BTC spot price massively.
Correct me if I’ve got this wrong.
Yes, you are wrong. Coinbase will be the custodian of bitcoin for 10/13 ETFS, meaning they will hold the BTC safely and charge a fee. Now these companies that have created ETFS most likely won't be going out to the market to buy the BTC, rather, they have other steps.
Companies have already accumulated a seed fund of BTC for the launch of the ETF, see BlackRock. Secondly, BTC may be obtained through OTC exchanges, which happen between two parties and would not substantially change the market price. Third, ETF's values are balanced by authorized participants, who would be the ones who trade the bitcoin and create/redeem shares of the ETF. The authorized participant may sell/buy on the exchange, moving the market, however it would also be a reflection of the sentiment from the ETF investors.
@@Seige-dg Ummmm Learning curve, it sounds manipulated with all the OTC buys can you explain when the price can’t be manipulated so those BTC buys show in an upward movement on the spot BTC price.
Hope that makes sense.
@@Happytruth Certainly. So ETF providers and their authorized participants will often buy OTC to prevent big market movements. There are regulatory guidelines for performing that. The OTC markets have less liquidity, so it takes time to find a counterparty. Companies may also pay a premium for larger amounts of BTC, since buying it from the exchange would cause big movements and make the purchase more expensive. Although you are correct in assessing that the BTC exchange may not go in an upward movement even though there is buying power. However this transaction is effectively reducing supply in the market, so the price will eventually follow up.
@@Seige-dg you’re proper smart and that makes sense, how long and what are your price predictions for 2024, please humour me!
@@Seige-dg Thanks I understand now my mistake was thinking that OTC wasn’t relevant and that they had to buy off exchanges hence moving the price up rapidly, with only so much BTC available what is you opinion on how long these higher price rises will take are we looking this year 2024 a BTC price of over $100 thousand as many predict or in your opinion knowing how these markets work do you think it will be a longer time frame?
"coinbase 500 index" Brian is a genius. He's also thinking of becoming an S&P(SPGI) in the crypto market. Plus, he's thinking about the scope of Bitcoin's application, not just its investment storage. It's gone up a lot in the short term, but the point of view is always strong in the long run. Transaction fees? That's no reason to lower it because other coin transactions will increase.
Legend. My guy just kept building. Everyone else is in jail or in court.
and he will be there with them when the government starts loing into the amount of customers that have been hacked on Coinbase...

The grudged approval proves the true power of Bitcoin and cryptos. Because if they really had the power it would not have been an approved. They fight but we win in the end.
Now the critical question is, how does Coinbase plan to manage the substantial demand for Bitcoin in the market?
Bitcoin is Gold 2.0! #Bitcoin #BTC
That was not a hack. It was market manipulation.
Didn't they "regain" control minutes later? That's now how hacks tend to work lol. You're right of course.

Coinbase is the sole custodian for all these etf that being filled imagine the level of craziness for coin base now having to answer to trillion dollars in bitcoin next few years 😂😂😂😂
With Block Sailor Token's burst of adrenaline, who needs coffee? ☕
Curious to see if Coinbase lowers their fees and/or spread. Perhaps these ETF’s with expense ratios as low as 0.20% (20 basis points = $20 per $10,000) will help? Let’s be honest, the fees for BTC can be ridiculous. It can cost like as much as $15 give/take sometimes to send some BTC to somebody (or even to move it to another wallet)! Then Coinbase will charge a $ fee and a spread as well (which is a larger spread than many other exchanges). If Coinbase is the custodian of “10 out of 13” of these ETF’s then maybe they’ll have a nice revenue stream there and be able to stop charging so much to people actually trying to use BTC as a currency.
I doubt BTC will ever be used as a currency except for certain things. We will probably use stablecoins and not on ETH because gas is too expensive. What is important is what payment systems will the big boys like Walmart and Amazon adopt that allow consumers to spend crypto and will governments and things like utility companies ever allow people to pay their taxes and bills in crypto? If yes, that will be the next sort of era of crypto and block chain transforming industries and the economy. Imo, that's completely different than speculating on the value of these things.
We should be able to have our crypto on hardware wallets and use them just like credit cards tapping or swiping w/e at the POS and not need any fees aside from however the underlying network works. I do think the networks will evolve and improve to make sure it can support very cheap and efficient transactions with the volume necessary to support a global payment system like Visa does for instance thousands of transactions per second np and nearly instant is a requirement for a realistic crypto being used as an actual currency worldwide. Bitcoin unfortunately will never be that at the very least it will need a lot of help to simulate being that but imo a different block chain altogether will actually end up being that because it will meet and exceed all of those base requirements.
Yeah, great company but they need to figure out how to make money instead of ripping off customers with fees. During a trading year I had Coinbase Fees of almost $7k. I do not use them anymore. And if I wanted to buy bitcoin I would totally use the ETF now.
@@joefuentes2977 You make some good, valid points. I think BTC's PoW is a great system but consumes a lot of energy. ETH has the PoS and that is currently faster, but PoS is not necessarily new. Also the thought with PoS is that the rich get richer. Plus PoS has more attack vectors and ultimately is less efficient and less secure. There is also PoH, but IDK much about that. Think only Solana uses that? It will be interesting to see if credit card companies ever incorporate some of the technology. I think the big problem right now w BTC is the volatility. However, I think once more people adopt BTC and money flows in from financial institutions, there will be less and eventually it will even out. Perhaps the costs put onto the consumer/individual will go down and as technology gets better and we make advances that might help. The whole point is decentralization, so not so sure about corporations and/or governments having their own crypto. The stablecoins are interesting, but I do not think they will take over BTC and ETH. Both BTC and ETH are here to stay.
Just use ADA..
I'm not even sure what an ETF is. Should one still just be buying raw BTC or shift to these new BTC stock market stocks? I've been DCA'ing into BTC and will probably just keep doing that. I'm not super versed on the traditional "stock market"
Continue DCA BTC!! The etf is ok but my guesstimate is it’s only measures a third of the total benefits of actual Bitcoin considering decentralization, ownership, confiscation risk, fees, taxation, privacy, taxes etc..

What is the Economic Activity does crypto have?
SEC obviously never had to deal with Coinbase customer service before
I think there should be ETFs for every cryptocurrency. Let's start with 11 ETFs for the first cryptocurrency (Bitcoin), then 11 for the next cryptocurrency, etc. Let's start another cryptocurrency when an issuer wants to make some money. Do we stop when everyone knows that there is nothing valuable backing the investments?
and he said there should be Coinbase 500 like S&P 500...
The ETF won't do Coinbase any favors. They probably won't generate much revenue from it because the fees would be low due to government oversight, unlike now when their high fees stem from unrestricted operations.
I quit trying to teach newbs the value of investing in Bitcoin. They’ve been brainwashed by the government and refuse to see the MANY faults of fiat currency. #HODL
