In Canada, there is generally no income requirement for sponsoring a spouse or partner. However, an exception to this is if the spouse or partner has a dependent child who also has children of their own. In this case, the sponsor must meet the Low-income Cut-off (LICO) requirements. Sponsors do not need to have a job, but they must be able to demonstrate the ability to provide for their spouse or partner's basic needs. Sponsors must also sign a three-year Sponsorship Agreement, which requires them to provide full financial support to their partner for three years after they become Canadian permanent residents. Government processing fees for sponsoring a spouse or partner are $1080, and additional fees may be required if dependents are being sponsored as well. Sponsors may also be required to pay back social assistance received by their spouse or partner if they receive it within the three-year period after obtaining permanent residence.

I like to ask you a question. If the spouse arrives to Canada, will the government help the spouse during the 1th years or no? Or the one who sponsor his or her spouse is responsible for everything.
