  • If you want to be a successful Betfair trader you need to have many different aspects to your trading.
One of the most important is having a decent Betfair trading plan and a Betfair trading strategy to plug into it. Note that the two are very different things. A plan gives you an idea of what you are looking for and what you will do. A trading strategy is how you will do it.
In this video, we review and discuss a Betfair trading strategy that you may have seen. But we add additional context and discussion to it and then show it to you in action.
This particular Betfair trading strategy gives you a good opening set up position by taking advantage of a key point within the market.

Always helpful hints over the years of watching your videos Peter, this one is particularly useful but newbie traders need to be made aware in that final 120 seconds+delay in loading the stalls/horse being re-shod or monty roberts blanket being introduced to a nervy 2nd/3rd fav the price on the fav WILL plummet.

As someone who is 'champing at the bit' and gagging for his self-imposed break with Betfair to end in July, I find videos like this particularly interesting. Before I put on the brakes 12 months ago, I didn't really understand stuff like this, but now I do, I feel more confident that when I resume my trading career, then I'll at least lose less money! LOL
Seriously, as a comparative novice, I think the major problem that we novices face, is that we - often by necessity - use really small stakes but then; when we see Peter making such large returns using bigger stakes, feel tempted to 'jump in with the big boys' - and thats where we get screwed!
My motto going forward? Stake small, win small - and LEARN! :-)

I tend to do the second part of this trade first Peter. I anticipate the drift and place the £50 stakes scattered at various prices 5 and above. It brushes through my stakes then returns to 4. Unless crazy drift - in a Maiden etc. I just can't lay first. It's psychological with me.

Just one other comment, is there any chance you could make a video on how to calculate the half life of a system. By half life I mean how would you know if your system is in decay? Apart from obvious a reducing balance! Have you done any such calculation? In my case I tweak the programme constantly so I’m not measuring the same system!

@@betangeltv Come on Peter, your baby, cross over point !
In google scholar simply put in "Betfair " and a number of very erudite studies come up, the vast majority of which use NASA style maths to describe simple processes. One of them made ref to COP whilst describing Betfair and what pre off traders get up to.
I can't believe that several universities actually have " gambling studies" depths, you've probably heard of Vaughan Williams,a Prof of Gamblingnstudies at I think Nottingham uni.
Have you ever gleaned anything useful from these academic studies, amongst the many on Google scholar, that perhaps you could shsre with us mere mortals? As for me, grade 2 cse maths , 1976! When you retire, perhaps you could become an honoury Professor at one of these seats of learning.

LOL, read too much into that.
My experience of academics is that they love to talk about a subject but are somewhat reluctant to put it to use. I did a talk at Exeter university once and reached out to a few institutions, but there seems to be little interest.
I haven't read anything of interest in academic circles. Most are geared around why it's impossible to win money betting.
