I for one would love to see Nick’s make these and offer them in their catalog. I’d be a buyer for sure! Anyways awesome rebuild, would be cool to see the good year soles make a comeback!
Other than being cool boots, it seems like there would be a market for these with WW2 reenactors.
💯
Great to see just how solid those boots are even after almost 80 years. I am sure in 80 years someone will be pulling apart a pair of modern Nicks and saying the same thing.
Beebe Rubber was started by Edmund Colman Beebe in Nashua NH. He was a graduate of MIT and worked for Davidson Rubber for three years before starting his own company with his father and brother.
Prediction, these will outsell the tankers if they ever go into production. I’d guess there be a pretty big bump in production costs due to added time/labor into sewing the two additional buckles. Time is money!
It's mind-blowing that they were able to mass produce such a high-quality boot for the military back then in such high numbers. The boots the military uses now are nowhere near the quality of these. 😊
Different times...
These retailed for $7 dollars when they released, which would be equivalent to $100 today!
You can't even find a decent boot for that price today...
Nowhere near the quality of men wearing the boots today either.
I'm sure there are plenty of great men and women serving our country today ( such as my cousins) , but standards and requirements have gone way down in order to avoid upsetting offending or discriminating and our military branches are becoming a joke.
My grandfather drove a tank across France through to Germany as a T/4 with the US ARMY 4th armored division, and the germans were scared of his division because they were told every man qualified for the 4thAD by having been born a bastard and killing his own mother.
Today they'd probably tell the enemy forces that you qualified for one of our armored divisions by calling somebody fat.
@@TylerSnyder305A different time and different men. My father was a teenager when he was fighting the Japanese Imperial Army in India/Burma (as it was then). I don't need to tell you how tough that was.
It wasn't high quality, it was military spec.
I've been retired from the army about a dozen years. My first pair of issue boots in 1987 were all leather composite sole 'Jeep' boots, followed by a pair of the updated 'Speed lace' boots a couple of years later, and then I'd had enough and bought the most comfortable pair of boots at that point, panama soled Jungle boots.
Current military boot design is excellent. It offers durability, weather and water resistance, and arch support. While it's neat to look at the old style boots, not even Nick's makes boots that bare boned. And if you had to choose between that M43 boot and a modern production combat boot from Belleville, Bates, or Altama for duty and field use, you'd pick modern production boot every time.
@@BFVgnr no I'd probably pick the Nick's tactical boot.
Holy crap I love how janky and casual this video is 😂 also editing is gold.
I really liked this video. It was neat to see and hear about that old combat boot. Then I loved the “behind the scenes” kind of content with Meatshots during the resole. Awesome content! Thank you!
You guys had some good fun with this video. This was pretty awesome.
Great archeology, but why replace this pretty much brand new sole?
The composition has dried after 80 years and were streaking any surface I would step on.
I cannot believe that even the Cat Paw soles are not being made anymore.
That was a great video.
The most valuable investment a military force needs to consider is the quantity of the footwear on its fighting force. An army hobbled by the inability to MOVE FORWARD because of bad boots, has already ten steps behind.
I do love watching the pros at Nick's work. Love the commentary in the video. More in this format, please!
Awesome! One of your best videos!!
Beautiful results! Great job!
Your jeans are fantastic! Your job dictates the modifications made, I love it.
Great video 👍
The quality of these boots is unbelievable!!! Build to last, now boots as Thursdays are rubbish; Nicks keeps doing an amazing job!!
Awesome video and project. Thank you for A-Doing, and B-Posting! Music and film school cuts around 19:00-20:00 made me want to lay my head in the belt grinder, but other than that loved it!
I like that ! I would like to see more of that kind of work . Or maybe the Nick's version of these boots ?
Such a cool boot. Hope to see a double buckle in your line up some day!
Great video. Could Have gone all the way on the glue montage, but good enough. haha
I was absolutely cursing you at the deconstruction to the denigration of this history. Then I literally cried at the RECREATION. OUTSTANDING.
I ordered some boots!! Sage Chromepeak MTOs! Your welcome! And thank you this was great!
Awesome video.
I have a pair of ww2 US Calvalry boots they’re very similar but knee high with three buckles.
Really enjoyed the video .
Man, that's ashame you put half soles on those boots! I was like, "noooooo!" ...
What's wrong with Half-soles?
I chose them because they make the resole process much easier and they are aesthetically pleasing.
I love those old cats paw boxes, would be so sick to get one of those boxes with like leather conditioner or something
Wow, excellent!
This boots and panama boots were the best boots I've seen, such boots like panama jungle boot were revolutionary.
Beebe Brothers Rubber Company founded in 1942 and continued until 1967 where they changed the name to Beebe Rubber Company. In December 1968, Mohawk Rubber Company purchased Beebe as a subsidiary. In 1986, Mohawk sold Beebe to Chardon Rubber Company and the Beebe name was removed. Chardon Rubber went bankrupt in 2009 and a year later was purchased by a group that now formed Chardon Custom Polymers which is open to this day. You’re welcome.
Now the real fun begins when Nicks can contact Chardon and do a collab where they’ll make their soles for them. Lol
You can tell that Asian guy really loves what he does. It’s refreshing.
A magnificent pair of boots. Wow!! I didn't like the double buckle at first, but everything else is ice cold.
Had to sign in just to say how cool this was
Would be nice if some of the current Nicks came with a tongue that isn't fully gusseted all the way up, would increase the number of casual ways to style them and give some overlap with some classic jump style boots.
did you forget to stitch the sole ?
Interesting video, I would ask next time could you put the camera on a stand ? It's hard to stay focused with the camera bouncing all over the place.
please get some double mid sole option.
Wish these were ar670-1 compliant and good for a ruck march, still have my fingers crossed though!
Please tell us you (Nicks) will make this boot. This is an incredible boot.
Why did you have to put the extra leather outsole and make it bottom heavy? Also , the outsole now seems too thick.
Coolest boots I’ve seen!
Best glue montage I've ever seen in my life. Kudos.
Would love a pair with the full cuff.
Awesome, but aren't there new sole stitches?
They forgot to add the sole stitches
absolutely a beautiful job. ty santee......on the brazos.
My Dad swapped a Greatcoat (British) for a pair of high leg US boots, he said far better boots than his British desert issue or ammo boots
I have a much later pair of the Marbot, French Ranger boots, essentially a copy, but with better quality leather. Mine have Vibram type commando soles (not branded, but similar) unfortunately, and here's the rub (literally)
Brand new, unworn, the last issue before they changed pattern... They are notorious to break in... Supremely comfortable, once they've acquired some milage... But a real pain LOL 😂
I was just thinking to myself, “I wonder what a Nicks video guy does.”
Did they completely skip stitching the new sole on, or just not show it in the video? 🤔
Cutting those stitches: hasn’t watched enough Trenton and Heath.
Stretching your production muscles a bit. I like it.
Those are not Jump Boots at the beginning of the video. So why play Blood on the Risers?
Please! Make these! I promise I'll order at least 2 pairs!
Ready to drain my bank account for these whenever you're ready, Nick's. Sheesh.
That would be cool if you guys maid a pair like this.
If you made these I would order a pair, take my money
I have always wanted a pair of these boots
A lot of nails around the waist of the boot and the heel. What did I miss? The forefoot of the sole is only held down by glue? No stitching or nails to hold down the front?
Yeah, that is insane. Gonna come off in 3 wears
What was wrong with the original soles? It seemed like they still have a good amount of tread left
They would leave large, dark streaks on the floor wherever I would go.
The rubber composition had dried out and made it so that it would chunk off pretty badly
Looks like you had trouble finding any Cat’s Paws that were any newer!
So you know. Yes I want a pair. Please make this happen and take my money
Are they gonna make these?!
I would remortgage my house. For these in wicked and Craig Buck Brown.😢
I'm laughing that you used "Blood on the Risers" and restored a pair of Leg boots. Paratroopers didn't use the M43 boot, and a lot of the ground troops used the Service Shoe with leggings because of the shortages of the M43 boots.
Yes, I thought this was funny as well, haha.
Using Double Buckle boots for jumping would be a sure death sentence.....
@@TeacoreLeather Why would the double buckle be an issue?
Ini GILA kawan.
Where is the link to order those M-43(s)?
they make them ?
Glue
Would like the cuff for my work boots
I might be making them for sale at some point soon
@@TeacoreLeather
Would be nice to have added to my current boot that I have.
If you cant learn fraction reduction in 7th grade, become a boot maker.
No offense, but they were still in good shape to begin with.
Better than modern stuff for sure and for certain.
No, the soles dried out and were streaking/crumbling when I used them.
Leave vintage boots in good condition ALONE !
They needed work, as they were crumbling when I wore them because the rubber dried out. It was not enjoyable to leave black streaks with each step haha
I love your contents, can I get a comment heart?
why would you have done anything to these boots? they were in very nice original condition! i love your channel but that is ruining history! shame,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I would keep that original outsole for a collectors item since it looks pretty well preserved.
You guys gotta bring that boot back…
