Stupid is as stupid does, says Forrest Gump (played by Tom Hanks in an Oscar-winning performance) as he discusses his relative level of intelligence with a stranger while waiting for a bus. Despite his sub-normal IQ, Gump leads a truly charmed life, with a ringside seat for many of the most memorable events of the second half of the 20th century. Entirely without trying, Forrest teaches Elvis Presley to dance, becomes a football star, meets John F. Kennedy, serves with honor in Vietnam, meets Lyndon Johnson, speaks at an anti-war rally at the Washington Monument, hangs out with the Yippies, defeats the Chinese national team in table tennis, meets Richard Nixon, discovers the break-in at the Watergate, opens a profitable shrimping business, becomes an original investor in Apple Computers, and decides to run back and forth across the country for several years. Meanwhile, as the remarkable parade of his life goes by, Forrest never forgets Jenny (Robin Wright Penn), the girl he loved as a boy, who makes her own journey through the turbulence of the 1960s and 1970s that is far more troubled than the path Forrest happens upon. Featured alongside Tom Hanks are Sally Field as Forrest's mother; Gary Sinise as his commanding officer in Vietnam; Mykelti Williamson as his ill-fated Army buddy who is familiar with every recipe that involves shrimp; and the special effects artists whose digital magic place Forrest amidst a remarkable array of historical events and people.

I got an idea I'll figure out when this movie came out and I'm thinking about going down to my local theater which does a lot of classic films and I want to see if I can do a Forrest Gump anniversary movie night.
1990 : Forrest Gump, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan. 2000 : Dark Knight. After that, there is nothing truly magnificent movie anymore from Hollywood. 2008 - now, literally nothing.

bought it yesterday during after work so I watch it to midnight and right now I watch again. NEVER GET TIRED watching Forest Gump, can't believe it's 25 years remember my older brother renting the tape in Hollywood Video when first came out. Happy 25th Anniversary Forest Gump
Tom Hanks is one of those actors who can do it all. Action Comedy Drama Suspense and still be a blockbuster hit. I bet he could do a slasher horror flic and it would be a blockbuster hit lol
Just finished watching it
I was fully overwhelmed with different emotions througout the movie and at the end when Forrest was talking in front of Jennys grave I couldn't stop my tears. One of the best movies that made me cry 🥺
One of the best movies I've ever seen. Now that I'm older I'm able to understand the movie a little bit more and I'm able to appreciate the story and the lessons this movie teaches about life. Truly a work of art.

My favorite movie. Tom Hanks is excellent, along with a great supporting cast. I was born in the 50's, so this is the period I was a teenager and grew up in. The music I love, my kind of songs. Laughter along with tears throughout, couldn't be beat👍❣

It's the first time a movie count so many different stories, so many things, without I getting bored or feeling like I'm being dragged nowhere for nothing.

Forrest Gump was never stupid and just because he had the IQ of 75 it doesn't mean that he had a warm heart and he was very caring. Forrest Gump should represent the better side of ourselves the side that we need to be on. If I ever have a chance to ever meet Tom Hanks I really want to tell him this aside from Toy Story and aside from The Polar Express and the movie Big and the movie Splash and of course Cast away and out of respect even the biopic of Elvis Aaron Presley and even more so I miss him Elvis Presley would have been 88 today. I wish to tell Tom Hanks out of all the movies that I've seen you in Forrest Gump is my ultimate favorite because I wish I had a friend like him. I have a best friend more importantly than just being my best friend he is my brother that I've never had. I believe in all shape and form some of us should definitely be like Forrest Gump.
