Dreambuild New 2021 Canyon Exceed CFR Team | Mathieu van der Poel | Pro Bike Build

- Canyon presents the newly developed Exceed Hardtail. We had the opportunity to watch Lars Hartwich (Canyon Pro Sports Manager MTB) building the hardtail for superstar Mathieu van der Poel at Canyon's company headquarter.
Many small details and the use of new carbon fibres with a high tensile strength and also high stiffness could further reduce the weight of the already light predecessor. In RH M the black painted frame should only reach 835g. Despite the light weight, the maximum permissible total weight is 120kg as with all Canyon bikes.
The frame for Mathieu van der Poel shown in the video is painted white (white paint requires more paint and means a little extra weight) and in RH L only weighs a true 917g with seat clamp and dropouts.
All cables of the Canyon Exceed run in the frame and are now routed through the head tube, this makes the cables run even closer to the frame, the frame can accommodate another cable for a Dropper seat post.
Canyon präsentiert das neu entwickelte Exceed Hardtail. Wir hatten vorab die Möglichkeit in der Firmenzentrale von Canyon Lars Hartwich (Canyon Pro Sports Manager MTB) beim Aufbau des Hardtails für Superstar Mathieu van der Poel zuzusehen.
Viele kleine Details und der Einsatz neuer Carbonfasern die eine hohe Zugfestigkeit bei gleichzeitig hoher Steifgkeit aufweisen konnten das Gewicht des ohnehin schon leichten Vorgängers weiter senken. In RH M soll der schwarz lackierte Rahmen so nur auf 835g kommen. Trotz des leichten Gewichts liegt das maximal zulässige Gesamtgewicht wie bei allen Canyon Bikes bei 120kg.
Der im Video gezeigte Rahmen für Mathieu van der Poel in weiß lackiert (weiße Farbe benötigt einen höheren Farbauftrag und bedeutet etwas Mehrgewicht) und in RH L bringt mit Sattelklemme und Ausfallende nur echte 917g auf die Waage.
Die Züge des Exceeds laufen alle im Rahmen und werden nun durch das Steuerrohr verlegt, dadurch verlaufen die Züge noch enger am Rahmen, der Rahmen kann ein weiteres Kabel für eine Dropper Sattelstütze aufnehmen. - Sport

What an excellent build! I just finished my hardtail build and it weighs 9.55 kg (21lbs). with a Sram XX1 drivetrain and the same fork. that Canyon frame must be super light.

Nice to see a glimpse of the 2021..Continental Race King sport version 2.2 is lighter, GOBI M-1 =170 grams, i might have ever considered Bike Ahead wheels for that build or the XRC 1200, nice build though, blue cable piping looks hottt
@Fabian Ansteg Looks nice with paint on it compared to the 2020 but 2020 are on sale now with XTR, nice bike, I had a 2016 Focus Raven max SL, frame was same weight as Canyon but it was XTR double, sold it about a year ago and might get an Exceed?

Just finished my own hard tail dream build. Wished I could have gotten my hands on a new Exceed frameset but Canyon simply won't sell them that way.

Building Mathieu's new bike: add music, tattoos, put everything on the scale, pink grease, pink sealant, must be cool! But why scratches on right crankarm and dura ace rear brake caliper? Also not sure about the new cable routing trough, looks like there is a serious bend in the shifter cable. I still want it.
shifter cables are incredibly flexible, they can be routed internally without any problem. the dura ace rear brake is simply because pros dont "use" the rear brake as often as the front one and plus the dura ace brake brakes just as good as the xtr for intermittent braking
@@claudioavila719 I'm sure the Dura Ace brake are just as good, but that's no reason to mix systems right? About shifter cables: they are relatively flexy but you don't want to make very tight corners. The speed of wear is a function of how tight the bends are. Think about the inner cable as a cable saw. Canyon prevents this with the plastic part that guides the cable relatively straight through the cap. It's a smart system and I hope it will prove reliable. Ps. I'm sure i'm not a pro mountainbiker because i'm using my rear brake all the time :-)

Wheels are already lightweight, weighing as much as DT1200.
The stem is missing. The XTR cassette, it weighs only 367 grams, is the TOP.
Can only be conjured with a saddle and seatpost. This is 200-300 grams.
You can also put on lighter tires, saving 200-300 grams, but the bike will turn into an uncontrollable projectile ...
The bike is assembled 100% correctly.
