  • This is the first in a series of videos that we are planning about us and our life in Mallorca.
In this first video I explain how we came to Mallorca and some of the issues that we faced.
Thank you to Matthew Aiken for encouraging me to make the video.
In future videos I hope to answer some of your questions.
    Thanks for watching,
    Steve and Anita

What a great story. I understand how difficult it is to move countries as I did the same in the early 2000’s and went from a tropical country to England. Given half a chance, I would relocate to Majorca as it’s a wonderful place seeing local families spending time together on the beaches in the evenings.

When we first went back to the UK for a holiday, I went to visit colleagues from school and they said how envious they were of what we had done. My thought, why don't you do it then? I guess it does take a certain amount of courage, but if you have the will, you can make it happen.

Brexit has caused lots of changes, most bureaucratic. I don't think that we buy anything that comes fom the UK. Our food is mostly local. We still get things from China, where most things are manufactured. I can't think of anything that we buy regularly that comes from the UK. As for the language... that's another question... still learning... but we get by.

If we were considering moving to majorca now, what are the hurdles abd obstacles we would face.

The big hurdle is your passport. If you have an EU passport it is pretty straight forward. If you have a UK passport you need a visa.

Hi Steve, thank you great video.
Do you know anyone running a bar? Something Ive been thinking about but sounds like a lot of red tape and possibly it's like that for lots of businesses. Job vs business is the dilemma

Hi both, our daughter is a primary school teacher, husband ex military. 2 children aged 11 and 7. What are the chances of getting a school traching job in mallorca?

There are several international schools on the island and jobs often come up in them. It will be easier if she has an EU passport, but it is still possible with a UK passport. She should prepare a CV and send it to the international schools on the island. Keep an eye on the TES and Guardian for job adverts. It is very difficult for a non-Spanish person to get a job in a state school.
