I like you running the trucks at the same time like this.
Yup! Definitely the most accurate way to do comparisons!
I like the two up challenge it eliminates all variables ie: temp. wind , traffic.
hope the equalized the trailer tire pressures
Well, different drivers is one new variable.
@@philtripe 🤣 should they have also eaten the same breakfast that day?
They should sleep together too!
Yes and they should have been born on the same day
Definitely at the same time. Fewer variables like Traffic, weather etc.

Love the tow off format. Gives Identical Conditions so the comparison is no excuse fair !!!!
This was a great video guys
Why Alex why, I see tfl and your channel, paying $300 to load the shippers vehicle is bs bro
Sup Alex just watched you ruin ur trailer for the 5....no..6....Na 20th time 🤣🤣
Alex have you done editing your next video yet?? Stop loosing time dude im waiting for your next video 🤣🤣😅
Thanks Alex!
This was the best towing test video ever!
I love how Andre dodged the controversial "zero" brake applications when using adaptive cruise. 😂😂 "Yeah the Freightliner"
This is one of the greatest videos on youtube EVER! I think i saw it 30 times at least.
I'm more and more impressed by the TRX with each video you guys release. That beast can do it all.
They just look amazing next to each other! Great job, TFL!
The interior sound in the Ford sounds like a lawnmower compared to the Dodge.
Lol. So true. Wear ear plugs in that Ford.
Probably have to listen for the real engine sounds in the speakers lol
@Burger King Which I am aware of hence the point of my comment.

My vote goes for truck vs. truck. It makes the video more interesting as there is element of surprise until the end.
I love this channel
I definitely like the video but I also like when you guys go a little more in depth with how the truck is actually towing.
Great job as always!
I’m pretty sure they didn’t really worry about that too much with these trucks because they really aren’t towing trucks. They were just saying hey, look you can toe and they don’t do a half bad job
You can go into the settings of the Ram and turn “current gear” on and it will show it on the cluster.
I thought that exactly when he said it !!!!
Thought that also. Just hit your plus or minus on shift selector.
@@ramrider1453 This truck doesn't have that. This truck uses the paddle shifters.
@@gasolinediesel972 Oh ok. But wouldn’t it indicate the gears on the cluster then if ya manually adjust?
@@ramrider1453 It only does that if you're in manual mode. You can shift it like a sequential transmission with the gear lever. You swipe the shifter to the left to put it in manual mode.
This is the way to go, head to head! Awesome review 💪🏻
I’m stunned at the trx fuel economy on that run, stunned.
I like this version for the tow off guys, great video, great work, keep it up!
This is honestly better content - and earlier - than any magazine test. "Two super trucks towing up the toughest grade in the US"...you guys rock!
Great video y'all!
I love the

There's nothing to discuss...MOPAR or NO CAR! The TRX is at the pinnacle of bad ass trucks, hands down. And BTW, awesome video!!!
Great video!!! I like them done together like that. Awesome to see them side by side performing.
I like the new tow off, I enjoy the actual pump saying what the MPG is.
3mpg for hellcat lol
@@poglant It was 8.3.
You guys are ridiculously fun and educating to watch,!! I love tfl and can't wait for more videos from you guys always first!!¡!
Awesome video as always! I personally really like the side by side comparisons, but so long as you’re able to keep making videos I’ll be happy. 🙂
I liked this side by side comparison better than individual runs. Great video. Makes me want a TRX even more!
Great video! Run trucks at the same time, as in this video.
This was dope, we need more ike truck vs truck challenges.
One of the best yet. Much more entertaining than single runs. Keep up the great work guys. Love it.
Hi TFL. I like this format of the tow offs because the shit talking/ goofing off happens immediately!
Surprised on the mpg! The feedback Ford will be getting on the TRX’s performance should force a motor update. Just wish I could afford that TRX, great video guys
Long live the tow-off!!!
Man, you guys have been killing it with these more recent videos. Said it before in previous videos and I'll say it again, structured, coherent, concise. Well done TFL crew! This new format is great for competing segment vehicles. Feels more gratifying to watch.
Great video! I definitely like seeing both trucks tested together, that way there are no variances such as weather etc. to cause differing results.
👏👏👏👏👏 Very well done TFL. Love the tow off competition. I have towed heavy campers for 20 plus years and it’s nice to see a comparison with different trucks. I was surprised how close the fuel mileage was with both trucks. That TRX is one mean machine for sure. Well done guys. When it comes to towing torc and house power is very important. Need it on windy days more so than hills. Enjoyed it!!
Andre you can turn on the gear display in the Ram. Option in settings. Great vid as always boys
It makes sense that the RAM barely needed to apply its brakes. Yes, the displacement is respectable, but superchargers are mechanically driven, so they place a load on the engine.
Not with a throttle body closed - no mass through a compressor means no work being done. In addition, there is a bypass valve that prevents any compression from occurring. The S/C has no impact here.
@@Cataclysm1I'm aware.
The parts are still moving, kid.
@@dreadnoughtprime6301 Makes sense. Pulley vs exhaust.
I like the "Tow-Off" format. You did a good job of cross-cutting the editing between the two of you. Thanks also for having a third vehicle for the exterior shots.
Very nicely done both of you. Love the new format. Keep it up. Andre looked like a kid on his first date when he put the hammer down.
Nice video. Thanks for keeping the background music to a minimum! Much more pleasant viewing.
Interesting result on the mpg test. From my experience, especially with my Ranger, Ford overestimates the mpg which i think is why it came up higher than the TRX and yet was slightly lower overall per the pump
Awesome video! Glad I found you guys! Most interesting and innovative channel dealing with all things motor! Thanks and I look forward to whatever else you have planned!
I find this format with a head to head awesome. Can really see how the trucks differ in ability! Keep on the good work.
Hello my name is Matt and welcome to Off- The Ranch. All I could think of here that song
Nice video, I didnt know the payload was that low on the raptor. If the avg family of 4 weighs let’s say ~650 lbs, you can only tow 3500 lbs given a 10% tongue weight. That’s pretty interesting - not even half of the rated 8000 lbs.
averag american family of 4 is way more than that😂
Running the trucks together is ten times better, because of the mini drag racing! It's much more entertaining to watch!
Great way to compare - and also love the fact that you guys put in the chapters in the video. Good stuff guys!
I feel bad for the horses in those trailers.
They’re kept nice and warm under the hoods
Thank you for the chuckle.
This shows again that small displacement with lots of boost doesn't really help on fuel economy when towing huge payloads. Maybe empty around town, but not that much when under heavy load.
Wait, you're supposed to get better gas mileage when towing?
No, as opposed to a larger displacement engine.
@@ec3886 Yes, with the eco-boost.
I tow a 4600lb ice castle with my 2019 Ram. With stock tires (Bridgestone Duelers) it got 8-9 mpg. Now I have Bridgestone KO2 and I get a constant 7.
My friend pulls my ice castle with his 2.7 eco boost once in a while and he gets a constant 7-8. So both are identical. I’m pretty surprised with the eco boost towing.
One at a time
great videos, been pumping them out lately.👍
Yeah, that was a cool video! Appreciate what you do!
Thanks TFL!!! TRX is the new King 🤴.
At 5,000 lbs perhaps the Honda Ridgeline should enter the race.
I think it might have more payload than both of these trucks
Enjoy this way more than the typical toe test! The drag race is a really cool touch, and Andre's face as he left the Raptor in the dust LOL.
That TRX is a hell of a truck. Sounds terrific, and that is some really impressive performance.
Great video as it is the most accurate way to compare the trucks. Same road conditions, same weather conditions, and same trailer weight. Great job TFL!
I like the tow off, it adds interest.
I was pretty shocked by the supercharged 6.2 getting better mpg than the ecoboost. Makes me wanna buy the wimple 2.9 super for my truck!
Small turbo engines are really efficient in low load scenarios but as soon as there's any load on them, they stink
@@ericpatrell4776 Maybe that’s why the Detroit two-stroke engines used a supercharger rather than a turbo!
@@cornfedproductions9773 some use both!
The Hemi isn’t working as hard, and likely makes up for its overall displacement with a more efficient A/F ratio at the load it was. The 3.5L TT would be producing the same power up the hill as the RAM, but due to working harder would probably be running a richer A/F, using slightly more fuel.
Straight to the point and very informative! Bravo
These newer videos are great. I enjoyed it. You guys provided education on the trucks and were entertaining at the same time. 👍🏽👍🏽
Grate video guys! That trx Is powerfull!!
And Ford, come on!? A 77k truck with those cables on the mirror?
77K truck that is now out of production...
it would be interesting to see how much more weight you would need to add to the trx for the raptor to be just as fast as it
Great video again. I really like the side by side comparison. Keep up the the great work!
Wow, the TRX spanked that Raptor on the rolling acceleration run!!! It didn’t walk away, it went up and left at a sprint.
@@connorclark4096 the hellcat is a hemi
Dude it should it was pulling the exact same weight but it had 702 vs 450 hp so if it did not run away from the raptor something is wrong with it.
@@dronevidsandfreedom its not about horsepower here its torque. Torque is what pushes you in your seat and gives you thrust. Horsepower enables you to go to a higher speed faster. If it only had 450 ft lbs vs the 450 hp it would be a lot slower in these tests.
Guess I’ll take one of each...
I enjoyed how you guys tested both at the same time here. Props on this style video, well done! 👍🏻
Yes. Please run them both at the same time.
This was awesome. Both trucks are beasts. I like the fact you both are just chilling while trucks want to rip roar off down the road.
Same time is awesome. I personally would take the Raptor. Loaded vs base for the same price. Extra HP is good but not most important for me.
Please never do away with the classic ike gauntlet intro music
Really like the visual comparison when both trucks are able to run at the same time. Also eliminates people challenging that conditions were different between runs.
Awesome Run TRX good job Rapter.. I like this way better Roman; it is much more engaging, and you still covered a lot. Andre pulling a "Nathan" with putting down the power was great. Thank you , the changes being made in 2021 can be a great thing. Loving TFL Tommy NJ.
I never thought I’d favor a dodge but damn I want it. V8 muscle truck all day!!
@Jerry Byrd to be fair people drive the shit out of dodges tho😂they don't drive them like camrys and there's almost a direct correlation to bad drivers and unreliable cars
@Jerry Byrd ok that won’t stop me from one...
@Jerry Byrd ZF 8 speed is bulletproof smartass. You've never worked on a truck with an 8 speed.
Great video, guys! I'm tired of see only ecoboost to represent Ford. The 302 is a pretty good engine. How about 302 with 3.73 vs ram and the others.
It's because the EcoBoost performs better.
I love waking up to this. Great comparison TFL
Great video! I really enjoyed you running the trucks at the same time. I especially liked the side by side race.
So when will we see the ultimate off-roaders go off road?
They did a video a while back with the TRX, Raptor and Gladiator going off road
Never. They don't wanna scratch their precious trucks.
I believe they are in Moab right now filming them both.
i wanna see these two trucks go extreme off roading
I’m liking the side by side comparison. I couldn’t help but laugh when I heard that raptor at full throttle.
Sounds like a vacuum cleaner
Thus was a great way to show how the two trucks compared. Great video! Give us more like this.
Yes! More of these videos. Very entertaining. Great job guys!
My thought on the mpg is that the Ram didn't have to work as hard to tow the trailer. Less RPMs means less fuel used, so I guess that's the reason it got better fuel mileage. 🤷
Yep
Plus turbos
Raptor has less cylinders though!
@@superkidzach True, which adds a little more confusion to it. 🤷
The Raptor has been top dog for so long, Ram, beat it, they kicked its ass
Great job guys really enjoyed.
Great video! Having both trucks at the same time was a great comparison.
can y'all do a drag race with loaded trailers??
multiple trucks too.
That would be nonsensical.
Obviously the one with the most power and torque would win.
The TRX would win by a lot. 460 ft/lbs at 1200 rpm. 650 ft/lbs at 4800 rpm.
@@gasolinediesel972 That is interesting. Raptor makes peak torque at 3500rpm.
the results would be slower than empty, and the order would be the same.
The Ram HD Cummins also had 0 brake applications just last year
Cumm brother!
Yes @Jesse Fleming - but the RAM's adaptive cruise control uses the brakes to maintain speed, so even though the driver is not touching the brake pedal, the brakes are still being used...
@@MegaHannaz Ahhh, I forgot they used adaptive cruise on that run
Yes someone else remembers!!!
Killer video guys! If both of these trucks can maintain speed all the way of the ike gauntlet then it really just comes down to a matter of acceleration with payload! Even though I'm a Ford guy, you can't deny the power of that Hemi!
Also, hello from Arvada!
This is awesome, I’ve waited forever for this video to come out!
Traditional way and you have to bring back Mr Truck
Mr truck comes in at 26001 and up range cdl required
Noooo, please, not mr. Tr*ck! He talks like he has a pound of chewing gum in his mouth. We foreigners can't watch him.
That color looks amazing on the Raptor.
@Jerry Byrd Maybe the best all arounder yes, but *"the best"* is a matter of opinion. I prefer the looks of the raptor and the TRX's powertrain. When the new Ford Raptor debuts, that will probably be the best for me.
@Jerry Byrd there's not really a way the raptor is better than the trx 😂 wait until the redesign for the raptor to make it a real comparison
@@burgerbandit3646 The new raptor is supposed to have the 6.8l. No GT500 engine. It'll probably be slower, but it'll have better off road capabilities.
@@gasolinediesel972 it will supposedly have more horsepower than the TRX but idk if it will have AWD like the TRX does so you may be right.
@@burgerbandit3646 It won't have more power, but the raptor is lighter. It will be close. I think the TRX will still be faster, but the raptor will be a better off roader. Ford hates V8's. The only vehicle that has a V8 as it's flagship engine is the mustang. You can't even get a V8 in an F-150 tremor. This makes me think that the raptor might not have a V8 at all. If it does, it will be the 6.8.
Videos like this are why you guys are leaders in the field. Please keep it up!
super fun to see them both on the road at once Roman,.. great work
The trx is the truck to own. It will be legendary like the srt10 ram
And the original powerwagons, the lit red express, the Dakota rt,
Yes exactly! I honestly am torn between a trx and a gladiator personally. Im the sick person who would drive a convertible truck on the highway, on the way to the trails ofcourse
Legendary just means write this down.
Can you do a normal mpg loop, with trailers, and not one where you are beating the snot out of the trucks?
Great video. Fun comparison. Two very capable trucks.
I do like the format of the tow off.
I really enjoy the Ike Gauntlet towing videos. I do think any vehicle you guys have tested in the winter should be retested in the heat of summer. As a Raptor owner myself and member of several forums and FB groups, the biggest concern people seem to have, next to combatting rear ended squat, is transmission and coolant temps when pulling a load in warm weather.
I love this series between the two! Can’t wait to see that v8 in the raptor if they really decide to do it.
Rumor is, Supercharged V8 Raptor will be announced next month. Some have predicted the date as 3rd Feb, but let's see.
Hopefully the 7.3l... but I highly doubt it... probably just the 5.2
@@nordicwolf8808 That rumor is bullshit. From the audio, it sounds like a 6+ liter displacement. Probably 6.8. Certainly not a 5.2.
@@TheNuclearBolton Both are wrong. It's the 6.8 NA V8.
@@gasolinediesel972 they need to outperform the TRX though... we need an engine that produces low end torque... even if they put a 7.3l in there that produces 650 horsepower, I’d much prefer it over the 700 that the trx has due to its matching torque curve. The 7.3l can reliably produce 900 hp. And with an aftermarket setup, get into the 1600-1700 range.
I liked them at the same time and I’m a Ford guy but dang that trx is amazing
