I recommend going somewhat chronologically, and bearing in mind that the albums were written with continuity to be heard start to finish. Not a requirement of course, but great to just sink into for an hour or so,

You must have been high is Jimmy Page saying they were high as a defense to the numerous lawsuits brought against them.
When this song plays, the hairs on my arms stand up and a shiver goes down my spine. Real reaction and I have heard this song many many times. Just brilliant musicians. This is a bass/percussion fronted band, not lead guitar.
One of my favorite things about people hearing this song for the first time......they all start out with a bit of head bopping, nothing big, but as the song progresses the need to head bang gets stronger and by 2/3s in you all are rocking out. Tool will do that to you but this song in particular.
Listened to this track too many times to count, and I still remember that first time hearing it, while hurtling down the desert highway on our way out to Joshua Tree. The exhilaration of it all, like white knuckling a roller coaster, from beginning to end. And gotta say, had that same hair standing up on the back of the neck feeling watching the three of you lighting up, leaning in and using at the seams with joy throughout your listen.

Always cool seeing old heads taking their well earned knowledge and crafted opinions they’ve developed over years dissecting a couple of specific genres and applying that experience to others. Because it definitely translates even if a strong vocabulary hasn’t been developed yet. It’s a lot of fun watching you guys break down what these tracks mean to you and how they move you. Sober and The Pot are solid Tool tracks and are definitely more of their more accessible selections, though The Pot does have the boast of being on of the few rock songs with a bonafide bass solo in it. You guys are ready to go a bit deeper and weirder into their catalog. Keep going.

There’s also a clip from a concert when some fool runs on the stage-and being a Jujitsu master-Maynard took him down, put him in a hold and sat on him all while performing and DIDN’T MISS A NOTE!!!!! The music is amazing but their Lyrics are brilliant. Truly what makes them a force of emotions. The symbolism, innuendo, and metaphors are a master class in writing and storytelling.
