- Midjourney is probably the name you hear when you think of AI generated art just because their Discord server is massive and they have a large reach. However, Midjourney costs money and most of us are broke. So in this video, I'll show you some heat alternatives that allow you to generate AI art for free.
Keep in mind, of course these free alternatives wont be as fast as midjourney but you don't have to pay for them which is nice. If you enjoy what a website does, please do think about supporting the developer by buying their premium subscription.

@@abs3nt560 stable diffusion 2.0 is lame
@@samaBR_85 SD 2.0 is not an upgrade whatsoever. SD 2, for what i can understand, is an "escape from jail card".
What do i mean by this? Lemme explain: StabilityAi got sued for copyright reasons and something like that, factor that left SD stuck on 1.5 for a while.
This actual model (2.0) is a model trained and fine tuned without any artist's photo and nsfw, but, if what i suppose is correct, Stability is gonna release some tools to "fine tune" your models so that you can train the 2.0 (which has an impressive learning curve, so you can see where this is going) with the missing parts.
For example you want some models just for an artist? Boom, give 2.0 a lot of such photos and you'll get something out of your mind.
this has already happened with f222 btw, a model trained on 1.5 but with a lot of nsfw.
In this way, being open source, StabilityAi is not responsible for the private user's trainings and therefore they are completely clean in terms of law things an copyright stuff.

I'm with you. I'm a traditional artist (for example, I use brushes and real paint) and have loads of artwork in various mediums, forms & stages lying around. Would be amazing to utilize my own work to create new ideas for potential finished artworks. I don't want (or need) to steal someone else's work, nor do I want a computer to make something for me. I mean where's the skill, talent and artistry in that? Maybe I'm getting it wrong coz I don't really understand this AI thing yet but I am looking into it, trying to learn. Please consider that these image generators are only able to perform at this level because they are trained on datasets containing vast amounts of unlicensed copyrighted material.
The Playground site you mentioned may be granting you a license but you could still be exposed to risk based on the source material, especially if using for commercial purposes.
Also, thankyou for drawing attention to the fact there are consequences to generating so many images. Another one is that online galleries and marketplaces are becoming flooded with generated images and cause direct harm to working artists, many whose artwork is contained in the datasets without their consent.
Well yeah, of course that's how it works, and of course this is going to kill art. I think we're past the point of no return, it's like releasing the clamps on a nuke on a plane the milisecond you have a change of heart and just being able to reach your hand outwards in abject horror. This is going to be a thing, a big thing.
This is going to come out of left field but it crossed my mind and I don't want it to just go out the other ear; Perhaps those that have the most influence in this world implement things like this, the concept of self-checkouts, automated drive-throughs as a preparation for not necessarily just depopulation, but societal reset in which they will permanently revoke "useless" career from common folk. And well, if menial jobs and all artforms are relegated to that I really doubt they want us wallowing around. I just wanna be in like.. corny mid-2000s for 10 more years. RIP.
@@maxwellalexander2962 The Nuke comparison is one I think a lot about too. Yes, a lot of damage has been done that cannot be undone however you can still act. I believe the court ruling was that it is impossible to copyright art created by AI. So it is nice that they all allow you to use the art for commercial purposes, the reality is they can't prevent it.
AI genereted art is basicly steeling. The picture that you get is made from several art pieces. Sometimes even the water of the artist is seeable.
@@Alexandraadftxr7052 that is not even remotely true. The AI creates an image and then adds to it to recreate the style of a famous artist...dali or picasso etc. There is no merging of paintings or stealing. When human artists stop "training" on other peoples art work then you may have a case. Until then please go away.
@@NScherdin AI training is not the same as real humans. as i have stated time and again. I will not go away because your comparing a human brain to lines of code. which are fundamentally different. humans referencing others art is not stealing as it's not a 100 Percent copy of another work. as line width and expression between artists change. ai is literally just straight taking the lines and pasting them.
human artists are not the same as AI and should not be compared to such end of discussion.
creative commons means that their right belongs to them and that it can not be taken without permission of the creator or credit to the creator. even in open source databases. the fact that the pieces of art being taken are not credited is in fact a crime.
your case is based off ignorance of what creativity is. people that want ai art to succeed like this are just lazy people who don't want to bother learning the skills themselves. and would rather profit off the hard work of those who did and take everything from them. because it's easier that way. I will not sit back and stay quiet while this injustice continues.
Ai can be a great tool, only if and when it is created ethically. meaning not lifting peoples art and using their pixels and styles to make money.
and yes ai's can steal a style while people can not. as again human error makes art unique to them. something ai is completely and utterly incapable of.

the fact that these ai generator arts are able to generate art - that would normally come from a person who's able to creatively put their passion into works - within a few seconds sucks all the soul out of the art. additionally, ai generation relies on previous works of art - so these bots would be taking other peoples art to create images. i've also seen people use these ai art bots to create and pass off the products as their own.

While you are right, I am not even sure if the submitters who submitted the art did it for the funny to show how flaw the judges are or just to gain media attention. To be honest, yes, we should respect art. The submitters didn't really mean to win the contest and was shocked as fuck as he heard that his art won.
Thats a vast oversimplification of reality. The artist who made the a AI piece and won did not hide his use of AI. They judges knew and still chose him, so I guess you should be mad at them if you don't think it's art. Also it wasn't a simple task of just clicking a button - try reading about his process maybe and you'll see its just a different form of digital art. Of course using a painbrush and making the strokes yourself is impressive and more challenging in a different way, and I'm not going to be calling this person a painter (unless they also paint). I would call them a digital artist. It's not a low effort task and it still takes a creative eye to select for composition.

@@nikonyrh yea mainly just user interface. Discord works great on mobile and is just clean and simple. I will say though now that I run SD locally and have sooo many more options MJ seems a bit too basic. If anything I’d make sure the settings section and image generation section are separated somehow. So perhaps have a tab for settings, prompts, and image outputs to easily switch back and forth. In discord it’s endless scrolling and I can’t even imagine how painful that would be if midjourney had more settings.
Also having outputs resizable and in different grid formats would be great for mobile so you can see lots of images at ones and then zoom in where you’d like to see more details. Great example of this is the iphone photo app where you can zoom in and out.

If i install stable diffusion on my Mac, will I be able to use the stable diffusion engine with a pool of my own images, that are on a local hard drive, instead of my references being from the internet… do you know if one can use the Ai engine without being online , as sometimes I lose internet signal in my area. Cheers
If you install SD locally, everything's offline.
But since you're asking this question I would guess that its too advanced for you.
@@zekiz774 aha , so I can pool from my personal pool of images , so I don’t have use the internet to trawl image references, cheers, I’ll read up more.
Amazing! Thank you!
Great video ! Thanks :) 😂❤️
Man, I can't believe a not fat or ugly man helped me find alternatives to Midjourney. Though seriously, are there any solutions to running Stable locally with an AMD Graphic's card?
That face reveal from Playground Ai is pretty cool though 😄
Seeing this now and you probably talked about it after this vid, but there is Mage now.
Very cool list. May I ask if there is an AI anybody would feels like suggesting in order to create the same kind of image over and over in different poses/angles/scenes?
Stable Diffusion can do that I think
@@zekiz774 thanks for the info, I’ll check it out! Stable diffusion is the one associated with dreambooth correct?
@@hardstylelife5749 yes
img to img and now new depth to img in stable diffusion 2 can do it for sure
@@plazzmusic thank you, much appreciated!
Yeah as of RN playground Ai just doesnt do anything, idk if its just me but when i click the link it asks to "continue with a google account" but when clicked, nothing happens. The whole website is just frozen. is this just a me problem?
What about images combiner in mj? Is there any similar free?
wow they limited the quality options after 50 images instead 300. Idk when this video was recorded but it was only in 3-4 days
You can just run local Stable Diffusion models. It's free, but it costs you time and a decent enough GPU
Playground also doesn't seem to share everything you create to the world like MJ which is a huge plus
can you please say how you make your video picture?
For me, the perfect generators would: work offline, give me commercial rights, and let me protect my work by keeping it private/off servers.
But my biggest question is, Does Playground or any others have an upload feature so you can generate images from your own original art?? I'd appreciate it if anyone knows. I'm definitely willing to pay for that ability. Thanks!
it would be impossible to give you commercial rights unless it was explicitly trained on material with no IP and no copyright, which is not really there..
There is a really good art generator that has multiple filters, it's called NovelAI.
Sadly it's only paid and I don't have any money.
I'm surprised you didn't mention dream texture that can be integrated to blender.
tried them all.. prefer to use nightcafe with stable diffusion 👍
Have you tried Playground? If so how does it compare to Nightcafe? Thanks
I've tried few times with playground, for anime like illustration it's almost unusable quality compared to other ai program..sadge
