DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSSES DATA
    1) These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
    2) These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
    3) All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
    4) Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
    5) Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
    6) Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
    7) Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
    8) All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
    9) Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.

It seems that the Ukrainian shell famine will end in the coming days but, without a means of suppressing the Russian glide bomb onslaught, then as long as the Russians have the necessary cannon fodder it will be almost impossible to halt the slow ‘grind and hold’ advances that have been ongoing since October. Fortunately, it would seem that the RuAF has neither the mechanised resources nor the expertise to conduct a strategically meaningful deep strike operation.

Russia storms onto the field like a team of rowdy freefighters, no rules, all muscle, while Ukraine sneaks in like a stealthy ninja armed with nothing but small tools. The scene's chaotic at first, with Russia throwing punches left and right, but Ukraine? Oh, Ukraine's the master of surprise, quietly and methodically unraveling the bully's plans, move by move, until they're left wondering what just happened. It's a showdown where brute force meets clever strategy, and in the end, it's the little ninja that walks away victorious, proving that sometimes, it's the smart moves that win the game.

Russia are losing about 30,000 men a month. I keep wondering not how long Moscow can find more men but how long the men on the front can accept the fact that the odds of them still being alive in a year are somewhere close to zero. The Russian tactic has not changed if anything it is worse. I think once Ukraine get enough weapons and ammunition that the deaths a day could literally double. For one thing Russia is getting a false sense of superiority when in fact they have not had the experience to develop any stealth or skills to preserve themselves on the battlefield.

This is making a huge dent in russia's future prospects. Very soon they're going to run out of patriotic fools and stupid volunteers of fortune. Then things will start to get really ugly in russia. It's obvious that rus can never win this. It's already clearly very bad for russia. They should surrender now. It'll only get worse and cost even more the longer this goes on. Rus are doomed.

If one was a true ultra European centric person, suspicious of the US, and resentul of the apparent US hegemony, you could make the argument that alignment with the US was incredibly risky for Europe.
Looking at the Geopolitical landscape and US entanglements, its as likely the US might be involved in a war with, Iran, China, North Korea, or Russia at sny time.
NATO could easily be pulled into a war in a far away place because of the US being attacked,
I wonder if Europe will stand with the US as the world gets more dangerous the next decade, or if they decide the relationship is too risky.

The probability of successfully hitting a target within 100km of a drone is ten times higher than hitting a target 1000km away, or even farther at 3000km. Hence, larger waves of drones are deployed for closer targets. Evaluation and response occur a week later due to the prolonged nature of this conflict, spanning years. Why must we obliterate distant large buildings entirely? It makes no sense. What does make sense is understanding that in that building resides the esteemed Office of Explosive Affairs, led by none other than General Boomsworth. And perhaps, a personal "visit" to him is in order.

Yep. You don't need a jet to shoot down drones. In fact the speed difference between a typical jet fighter and a relatively slow drone is a disadvantage, just as using an expensive air-to-air missile on a drone is not very cost effective. The ideal day time drone interceptor choice would be a turboprop trainer and light attack aircraft like the Super Tucano or AT-6. Its fast enough to chase down drones, but can comfortable slow down enough to shoot the drone down. This type of aircraft can carry a mix of AIM-9, guns and a couple of 7-round pods of 70mm APWKS laser guided rockets which using the aircrafts laser designator can be used to shot down drones.
Something like the Yak 52 trainer is a good compromise but could be improved on.

Consumer goods and services are being pre-empted by military production and Russia is sucking up manpower needed in the civilian economy and paying them high wage rates. This a classic formula for devastating inflation. The West was disappointed that sanctions didn't immediately implode the Russian economy. oh Jonathan, I meant to ask you about last nights drone attack. I was hoping you would address it more than you did. So Russia sent 9 drones like you said and you just brushed over it but I think it was fairly significant. In the past Ukraine have shot down 45 out of 45 shaheeds launched at them.
Last night only 4 shaheeds were sent. Plus 5 unknown drones of which 4 managed to get through. So 80% of a new unidentified drone managed to get through Ukraines air defence where 100% of the shaheeds were intercepted.
I was hoping to get your thoughts on this.

building new nuclear reactors is a mistake, it's a war zone and well - shit happens, targeted or not
worse nuclear power tends to centralize power production, meaning fewer targets for Russians to hit (even if they avoid the reactor, hitting all the transmission stations out from the plant is easy)
Ukraine needs DE-CENTRALIZED power production, hell the entire world does, but it is critical in a war zone or where disasters happen (Hurricane zones).
De-centralized means too many targets spread out over too much space, and when one is knocked out it is small potatoes
De-centralized is more democratic and less prone to corruption
De-centralized is more flexible, in some regions you can do hydro, geothermal, solar, wind, waves to help the environment, but you do not need to try the same solution in all regions - each can be localized...

You are very naive with ypur assessment of US press and journalism. Those of us who live here have a better understanding of the complete rote and bias prevelant across the media in US.

I think you misunderstood me. It's not to say US media is the paragon, but it is to say it FAR exceeds Russian and Chinese media. And the words of Biden are totally correct in where they should be and what they should be bearing in mind.

@ATPGeo I agree with both of the points you make in your reply. But the credibility of US mainstream media and news outlets and therefore reach and ability to inform and guide public opinion has dramatically deteriorated since 2016 or maybe a little before. Almost all my American friends turn to foreign or online news sources for unbiased opinion.

@@ATPGeo oh please do tell. You only find it "ridiculous" because it doesn't support your commentary and we all know your ego can't handle that. The fact is over 3000 people from the UK were arrested for social media comments. I agree Russia is no saint, but it's clear the west are also just as bad. That said, by all means please justify this for me.
