@@augm8184 it's a Very Hard game and getting to cosmic ocean is one of the hardest things you can do - you're not bad for having a rough time with it.
every run gets you a little bit better. keep at it! 💪

I freaking loved Spelunky 1 and 2 is way superior in every form,
I never considered have a modded character skin but seeing how you put your character in looks pretty fun
A true human would understand that they are equals, as spel. 2 has more content but less variety.
@@elihays7999 imma need you to explain that one. The game with multiple branching paths, each path having its own bosses, ending in a truly randomized level, has LESS variety than a game with a linear path? Sure Spel. 1 has the Hell level, but i wouldnt call that a "branching" path
@@LordZanas In spel. 2, every run feels the same no matter where you go (unless its temple): you get the same stuff, do the same stuff, and reach the same ending. the only differences are the mini bosses you face on world 4, and whether you have vlad's cape or a jetpack. In spel. 1, the level generation is almost completely unpredictable, and you never know what you're gonna end up doing in a run, just where you're gonna go. The level feelings in spel. 1 cause you to randomly explore levels with completely different landscapes, rather than simply adding a structure that gives you no benefit. you're not encumbered by having to carry the bow 50% of the time and can make it to the boss without ever having had to use a hired hand to get what you want from level to level. You can reach the boss with a shield, a plasma cannon, a shotgun, or an eggplant and you never had to bother with tedious baby sitting.
unless you're actively going out of your way to do something pointless, you will always complete spelunky 2 with pretty much the same gear
@@elihays7999 I feel like that can also be said about the original though, ice caves has a guaranteed jetpack and paste bombs are a given because of the spiders in world 1.

This is the greatest game of all time, and the one time I’ve made it to the Cosmic Ocean was the most euphoric feeling.
So of course I died immediately
Spelunky 2 is an incredible game and imo cosmic is what makes it nonreplayable

I hate the moles, hate the bats, snake throws you off o cliff to take fall damage to be flung into an aroma to be dropped on spikes EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE ALREADY DEAD.

If I get good, then Cyborg-Chan gets to live longer, and that's good because she is a Must Protecc™.
If I don't get good, then a half-robot dies, and since every piece of technology I've ever owned hates me for an unexplained reason, that would be quite cathartic.

Spelunky is the kind of game where no matter how much skill/knowledge you have, there's still so many little things that can come together to screw you over in the end.
I like to call it "Getting Spelunky'd," because I can't think of any other game/series where the run can be super-broken and still be capable of dying in a matter of seconds.

It's Super Ghosts and Goblins levels of difficulty by the looks of things.
The video was great. But I think that when you are covering indie games, you should do something like salt shaker. There are so many amazing indie games out there. And the salt shaker format would allow you to cover multiple fan favorite indie games, while not spending as much time on each game like an in depth review. Plus being able to cover a lot of games in one go would put out a meaty video for people who just like side of salt. But also give you time to focus on others things like Sig and Tessa. I would really like to see more of those projects!

I got Spelunky on xbox 360 in 2014, and it quickly became my favorite game of all time. Spelunky 2 surpasses it in every way, and I love it even more. Spelunky is honestly my favorite series of all time.
Spelunky features all my favorite things:
Slavery, misogny, animal abuse, psychopathy, and whatever Cosmic Ocean is
This game is actually so underrated

A couple mistakes:
1. You can fire that weapon you need to unlock the cosmic ocean (you dont need its ammo) and dont necessarily have to carry it the whole time after the first boss.
2. Going to Volcana with the jetpack is still good if you know how to ankh skip and want to get the alien compass in the temple without wasting the ankh

So, fun fact Scott! Since you mentioned the Hou Yi Bow, you can put that with Waddler, and if you make it to the Sunken City, he has a station set up in the first room! Not that I can ever make it, because I suck at doing that damn lightning trap gate to the City Itself, and the one time I made it, I bugged out and got sent into the damn sky, and had to end the run myself. Even if you do everything right, you can still get Spelunkied, eh?
