When I couldn't remember that guy's name I googled it, and the top video search result was the Fred video (the guy's name was Fritz Feld). So Fred, that means you are now a noted go-to source for old TV and movie info.
Once upon a time there was such a thing as...good clean comedy. It didn't put anyone down or have sexual connotations. It didn't hurt anyone's feelings or create hostility. It wasn't designed to get laughs by using a word salad full of profanity. Thank you, Fred, for reminding us that once upon a time there was laughter created by orginal thought and a spirit that was at peace with the world. I hope he made millions of dollars because he made millions of people laugh out loud.
I agree, Larry! The people also had a great sense of humor, and could laugh at themselves, along with their heritage. Comics and comedians (and ordinary people) can't do that anymore, because everything said to anybody else is now considered an insult--if it is not an giving an obsequious bowing and puffery praise! Jerry Seinfeld has famously announced he can't perform at college campuses any longer, because they take everything said as an insult. It's we who have lost, not the radical, extremist left-wing loonies who have dictated to everyone else how to think, act, and talk!

If my memory serves me right, it was during one of the Candid Camera specials made while Allen Funt was still around, where the camera was at a wedding. When the priest asks the bride if she will take this man as her lawfully wedded husband, the bride lifted up her veil to reveal that she was actually "Johnson," and started doing the spiel. A little girl who was there admitted, "I thought that she turned into a man!"

Once upon a time there was such a thing as...good clean comedy. It didn't put anyone down or have sexual connotations. It didn't hurt anyone's feelings or create hostility. It wasn't designed to get laughs by using a word salad full of profanity. Thank you, Fred, for reminding us that once upon a time there was laughter created by orginal thought and a spirit that was at peace with the world. I hope he made millions of dollars because he made millions of people laugh out loud.

I agree, Larry! The people also had a great sense of humor, and could laugh at themselves, along with their heritage. Comics and comedians (and ordinary people) can't do that anymore, because everything said to anybody else is now considered an insult--if it is not an giving an obsequious bowing and puffery praise! Jerry Seinfeld has famously announced he can't perform at college campuses any longer, because they take everything said as an insult. It's we who have lost, not the radical, extremist left-wing loonies who have dictated to everyone else how to think, act, and talk!

If my memory serves me right, it was during one of the Candid Camera specials made while Allen Funt was still around, where the camera was at a wedding. When the priest asks the bride if she will take this man as her lawfully wedded husband, the bride lifted up her veil to reveal that she was actually "Johnson," and started doing the spiel.
A little girl who was there admitted, "I thought that she turned into a man!"

Ah, one of my favorite '60s tv game (type) shows, along with "What's My Line?", "You Don't Say" (daytime after school), "I've Got a Secret" and "To Tell The Truth." Where have all the great game shows gone?
