The very fact that Chuck Grassley is still spouting brazen conspiracies about the election reflects someone complicit with Trump's coup attempt. He got caught mentioning Pence "might not be there," which is preposterous. And Pence, worried about the Secret Service driving the limo... what does that tell us? He KNOWS that they were beholden to Trump.

After three government investigations, why is Trump not charged?
He will have a bunch of I don't recalls for the jury...that way he will rationalize that he didn't lie...he just didn't tell the truth. He asked others if he could get away with it and only refused once he realized he had legal exposure.

They had absolutely planned to get Pence out of the way. At one point before the 6th , Grassley had made a statement that he would be chairing the certification in Pence's place.

I was also surprised. But Quayle had been in the same position. On January 6, 1993, he had to preside over a joint session of Congress to certify the victory of Bill Clinton and Al Gore over George H.W. Bush and Dan Quayle.

Pence's private counsel, Richard Cullen, contacted former Fourth Circuit Judge Michael Luttig, who said, "The only responsibility and power of the Vice President under the Constitution is to faithfully count the electoral college votes as they have been cast."

I have always liked Dan Quayle. I remember the Job Training Partnership Act which he started. I took part in it and though I went in different direction afterwards, I know several people who were there with me who went on to make careers out of it. He is someone of great integrity who was ridiculed unfairly by many. The vast majority of modern republicans are political prostitutes and fake christians who can't be compared favorably to Quayle. We would be much better off with Republicans like him.
