We will discuss the major differences between three pellet smokers. The 3 brands that are being considered are the Traeger Pro 22. the Z Grill, and the Green Mountain Grill Daniel Boone.
The Z Grill and the Traeger PRO are the most similar. And honestly feels like they come out of the same place in China. The Z grill offers a larger cooking space however for a more affordable price. And has a larger hopper. Honestly though, its pretty hard to beat Traeger For their brand recognition, full line of accessories. Traeger also boasts a three year warranty. One of the best in the industry. Their full service support and customer service is pretty tough to beat. And in this comparison made it a difficult choice to pass up. Thats where the Green mountain grill comes in. It offers a lot of superior features that the Traeger and Z grill do not. The biggest feature and most obvious is full wifi controls. Neither the Traeger or Z grill can offer this. There is also an exhaust fan to keep you pellets in your hopper cool as well. Although the GMG grill is nothing pretty to look at. It does have a nice industrial feel to it.
So in this test the clear winner was Green Mountain Grills, with the wifi feature to big of a feature to pass on.

I have had a GMG since 2015 no breaks misfeeds or any issues. The app works great as well and is easy to update firmware and individual components to retrofit potential upgrades. The pizza stone on the GMG is about the quality of a restaurant pizza oven too it makes great pizzas!!!!

Love seeing all this BBQ stuff from across the pond! Looking to upgrade from my Outback gas bbq and start to get into smoking and all the types of cook. Going to splash the cash a bit as you buy cheap you buy twice but really stuck as to wether to go for a Pitboss Navigator ( can’t get the pro here) or. Treager? What would you recommend? The Treagers are usually around £150-200 more than the equivalent sized pitboss. They cost so much more here and you’re looking at £899 ($1204!!) minimum for the smallest Treager pellet grill!!!😱
Thanks for a any help 🤟🇬🇧🇺🇸

I own a GMG davey crocket and id never purchase that again. Say what you want but the wifi opt is unreliable and rarely used. The heating rod, auger motor, and power cord all took a dump at different times of the first year of ownership. Smoke pounds out of the lid to the point that most owners make a homemade lid gasket. These are pretty simple machines. Treager is overpriced and technology has caught up to them at a fraction of the their cost. If I were to do over id go with the Zgrill. I live in a warm climate so spotty temp is no concern.

I put a gasket on it--it helped--but still not really tight. I also had to add an external smoking tube to get some smoke flavor. Other than that (which may be with any of the lower priced pellet grills) it's worked well. I do like the control better than Traeger.

✅Beats all other grills in terms of comparison of build quality and reliability.
✅2.4 Ghz wifi enabled through an app where you can control your grill from anywhere in the world.
✅Owner of the company and representatives actively monitor and reply back to posts people make.

Had a old american made traeger. Ive used it at least 4 times a week for well over a decade. It began its life at the beach so was already rusted when i got it and finally rusted out. Replaced all kinds of componets along the way. Just got a gmg peak and beyond all the compliments and complaints I've read and heard, my 1st impressions after 5 cooks and 2 bags of pellets is that while they do maintain temps well they BLAST through fuel at an alarming rate compared to the traeger (1st gen and the 1st gen digital controler). 2nd thing (likely causing the 1st) heat and smoke come through the 1/8 to 1/4 inch gaps on the loose fitting lid. Lava/felt style seals wont work well by design, due to lid shape. This unit NEEDS to be redesigned to add in a true seal and lid stiffener before gmg can compete with the big boys. Whatever you save on initial costs will be eaten up in fuel prices.

The GMG is NOT the "best" by far. Bought one a few years ago and it has NEVER worked properly. After the first call to their "customer service" department, it became clear that I was stuck with a grill I will never use. Save yourself some money, time and frustration and get one of the other 2 smokers.

I got screwed over on a bag of pellets by Traeger customer service. I wasn't going to give them the opportunity to do the same with a pellet grill. Traeger does not exist in my world. Not impressed with this video or the grills presented here.

Terrible review, with a terrible, shallow comparison, wrong reasons, for example a fan in the hopper may blow smoke away, but if there's a fire in the hopper, blowing away anything brings in fresh air to the fire. I have GMG Daniel Boone model, and I did have some trouble with it out of warranty, but the customer service was unbelievable! They shipped me replacement parts completely free, despite being out of warranty. They also answered phone calls immediately. They just don't like saying no to their customers.

I'm posting this to every review I find of the Z Grill: Z Grills are a ripoff Chinese outfit. The 700D they sent me arrived with bent grills and they refuse to replace them saying shipping to Canada is too risky. Remember that when you hear what a great product they flog. Their customer service is brutal.

Not many - and why in the heck do all these non-tech savy and non-cyber security savy folks think wifi is cool where they are connecting something made in china to their home network where they can access from anywhere? Well, if you can access it from anywhere, so can everyone else and it is a nice entry into your home network. Yep "everything is made in china" I get it, but something like a smoker do you update the firmware on the chip? Would you trust a grill company to evaluate and test the circuit board/firmware to make sure no backdoors installed? Well, I certainly wouldn't.

My z grill is awesome. I had a damaged shelf and they sent it right out to me. I had it within a couple of days. Z grills had been manufacturing grills for Traeger and Pitt Boss for years. They finally went into making their own in 2016. They are just as good quality and more affordable.
