Oh my gosh! So my dental hygienist referred me to your channel and I am SO excited that she did!
I am applying to school for next fall so that I, too, can help save people's smiles!
Thank you so much for your energy and super fun, informative content!
SO exciting!!! :)
!!!! thank you for commenting this! so happy you're here :) wishing you the best on your DH journey :) :) :)
Do dental Hygienist or therapist do fillings ?
As a highchool student senior I am really considering in going to college for a dental hygienest. Your channel has helped me a lot in my decision!

Hi i am a senior looking into RDH. Are you in the DH program?
I am about to finish my first semester of hygiene school! đđ» All of our lecture courses are online due to Covid, and we only go into the clinic 2 days a week! âđ»đđŠ·
I will be applying to a dental hygiene program and my area and I was wondering if you could inform on how your application process went...What was your program's application requirements and how did you stand with those requirements? (GPA, prior experience etc.)
How is the classes
Hey, what is something you recommend to major in to get most prerequisites classes completed?
What was the online program ???
That's amazing to have that opinion. I got a Science degree and passed the dental hygiene entry exam, but l had to give up since the program was all in person 5 days a week and that would Stop me from working and got bills to pay . That's the problem with all these medical programs, since you don't make a lot 70-80 a year, they also want to keep you in depth so you don't work for the two years you are in school, then you end up still doing loans. I paid off my signs degree while I was in school because I was able to work and I have no student loans. I'm now planning on getting a bachelor's degree in business since I have my own company , but l really wanted dental hygiene because it is fun.
They don't dental hygienist masters here in Jamaica but they have a masters in dental therapy and requirements are a degree in dental hygiene
I love all of your videos you are such an inspiration thank you for sharing đ„°
thank you for watching! and commenting kind!
I literally love your channel it is awesome
THANK YOU so much for this kind comment :) and for being here :) !
Whitney I have a question I love your videos as always your the best. Do you have to have your Dental Hygiene Degree in order to be a dental therapist? Could you have your BS and also a RDH and then apply to be a dental therapist?
Great video thanks đđœ
thank you so much for watching :)
Hello, thanks for the video. Also, if you're taking an associate's at a community college, does that college need to be accredited by the CODA or other Dental Board for you to be accepted?
I'm on track to get my Associates after 5 years of college, even though it could only take "3-4 years", so to anyone else who's taking a little longer to get your degree, know that you're not alone!
Hey, Iâm interested in pursuing the same path youâre on! If you donât mind, is there any advice you have for a highschool junior, such as an early start somehow? đ
@@sarahx_louiise Hi! I'm more into taking things slow schoolwise, but if I did want to get a head start during high school, then taking AP classes for General Ed would have helped me out. I also could have looked into dual enrollment with my local community college, or started my courses in the summer session after graduation, rather than waiting for the fall semester. Personally, I would have found these things overwhelming academically, but if you feel up for it, I think this would be a good place to start. Also, if your high school has counselors, asking them for some tips would be a good idea too. Hope this helps and good luck!
I currently have a bachelors degree in finance, but came to the conclusion itâs not for me. The Dental hygienist career caught my eye, but Iâm unsure if I would be accepted in such a competitive program.
You wasted 4 years n a degree to say itâs not for you ? Wow
Did you go to community college for your associates? Does it make it harder to get accepted for a job position because someone has an associates in community college opposed to someone who goes to university?
Hallo, i'm fatika from indonesia. Can u have recommendation MPhil Dental Therapist? Thx u đ
I'm working in amazon and they have career choice for me to go to dental hygienist. I might go ahead and pursue this.
Without any college?
What exactly does Amazon do
Hey, did you decide to do it?
I came across your channel today actually because I have been trying to plan my route for my dental career. I want to become a dentist, but of course I want a well paying job to help me on the way to achieving that goal. So I have been looking into becoming a dental hygienist while I work my way up, but I am still unsure how I should approach this. Do you have any tips or routes you personally think I should take? Thank you for the video! :)
I feel you. I had the same exact thought but the second I try to talk about it in college with my advisor or career counselor they started talking about how both careers are different, and just discourages me really badlyđ
hello! I would like to know that if I already got a Higher Diploma in dental hygiene and a Advanced Diploma in Dental Therapy in Hong Kong. What courses or any exams that I still need to take to become a registered dental hygienist in US? I am glad to hear your replyïŒthank you so much!
Hye dear!! When back video of your job ?! Your tuto when you practice it's very good
Is it normal that I get tartar build up two weeks after a dental cleaning ? I brush my teeth 3x everyday and floss and use mouthwash every day/night.
( My dentist is always pleased about that. đ)
Is it common to get tartar despite having a good oral hygiene?
After you get the associates degree how many patients have you approximately treated?
Wow that's good.
Hi my front upper and lower teeth are feeling very tender and also my wisdom tooth is also coming is they both are interrelated
IDK why im eating and watching this at the same time anyways almost 70ksubs Whitney đ
lol thank you SO very much :) :) :) so thankful for you being here!

Big fan could you please make a video about the scope and job opportunities in the future being a dentist as well as a dental hygienist, which places are expected for dental demand in more numbers would be a good content you could provide cheers..
yes! totally will make more videos about that! until then, I have my DH hub on my website that has lots of that info! hope this helps: teethtalkgirl.com/rdh
@@TeethTalk oh will check that đđ»
About to start my program Feb 2021! So excited to be an RDH! Can you apply for dental school with a BS in DH?
congrats! that is so great! and yes you can as long as you have all the prerequisites for dental school. most likely you'll need to take some additional classes during your undergrad :) hope this helps! also - always check with the admissions of your intended school for exact details!
Almost done with my first semester of dental hygiene schoolâ€ïž
I will be applying to a dental hygiene program and my area and I was wondering if you could inform on how your application process went...What was your program's application requirements and how did you stand with those requirements? (GPA, prior experience etc.)
@@Tarhell4eva I had to apply to my program in January of 2020 to be admitted in August. I had several prerequisites that I had to complete or be enrolled in before I could apply. Some of those were anatomy, chemistry and a lab, composition 1 and 2, microbiology and a lab, communications, psychology, and sociology! Hope that helps! The school you are enrolled in should have something about their dental hygiene program on their website and should include info about what classes you need to take and the application process :)
@@Tarhell4eva also, I didnât have any dental experience. It may help you out if you do though just with the material, but it wonât affect your chance of getting into the program. And I think I had to maintain a 3.0 and have Câs or higher in the prerequisites
@@sarahmontgomery6781 Thanks for your input! :) I've checked my requirements for the application but I don't feel confident that my grades are high enough to compete with other applicants. Our program is a point system just from co-requisite classes and I have averaged about a 3.3 GPA in those classes. I guess my reason for asking was because I wanted to know how well you did for you to be accepted in your program. Thanks again!! :)
@@Tarhell4eva yeah, no problem! My program has 40 seats. Iâm not sure how many people applied, but I did have really good grades, so I wasnât worried about getting in.
Hello! I have an unrelated bachelorâs degree and am thinking of becoming a dental hygienist. Do you think it makes more sense to get a masters or go back for associates? Would I need any prerequisites for associates or is that only for masters? I have no debt and would like to take out as minimal loans as possible.
hi friend! most RDH master programs require a dental hygiene license to apply (meaning you'd need to attend AS or BS in DH prior to applying)! always check the individual program's requirements but hope this helps!
Can I study dental hygiene after GED and do I need to have fluency English?
what can you do with Masters Dental Hygienist?
Love love your videoâs. am dental assistant from Germany.
thank you SO much for being here :) sending positive vibes your way :)
Hi I like how you clean teeth
Hi, I came across ur videos while searching like" what to do after doing a master's degree in dentistry in India.. So, after doing my masters in India, what course will be suitable in USA or DH is one good option... Cuz I have been looking for courses I cudnt get anything appropriate.. It wud be helpful if I get ur expert advice...
Hi, can you also do a video on fast track associate degree RDH and regular RDH at community colleges? Like tuition fee and all. Pls pls pls
great video ideas! will definitely add to my list! until then, here is my career hub that has some great schooling info: teethtalkgirl.com/rdh
Hey! First of all, thank you for making these videos, they're so helpful to people like me :)
So I am a junior studying to get my Psychology Degree in a 4-year university. (this was bcs I love psychology). I was thinking about getting an associate's in dental hygiene after I graduate but my college advisor said I shouldn't bcs it's not right to go for an associate's degree after getting your bachelor's ("it is a step down" she said, mind you, she was a dental hygienist for 15 years before becoming an advisor). Since you did the same thing can you please share with me what was going on in your mind while making that decision? and was it worth it? literally, anything that helped you make this decision of becoming a hygienist? would you advise me to do the same or not?
sooo interesting!!! so, maybe it can depend on the location in which you attend school? but in my area - I had several students in DH school with me (an associates program) where we all already had our bachelors. also - once it's on your resume - I can only see the benefits of having two degrees & can't think of any negatives. but that's just my opinion! hope this helps! wishing you the best in whichever you choose!!!
ALSO I think it's great - if anyone asked why you chose DH after a bachelors in something else - you now have a good story as to finding your passion for DH!
you are right! just watched your latest video on "Should you become a dental hygienist/" that helped a lot too. thanks
Are both trained to do the same thing?
Hey is there biochemistry and Anatomy in dental hygiene?
They have general chemistry and anatomy
Whatâs your opinion on accelerated programs such as concord career college?
Heyy can I know the pathway to become a dentist if you are a dental hygienist
Can I complete my bachelors degree in a community college, or does it depends on the college, if they have it or not?
it generally will depend on the college if they offer a bachelors or not! hope this helps!
@@TeethTalk thank you! Also can I go to community college to complete my pre req in associate degree and not apply to any program, but apply when I transfer to a university for bachelor?
I am foreign educated dentist
How can i practice DH in usa?
Whatâs the costs of attending dental hygienist school
it depends on the program itself (and whether it's a university or a college) and the location as well - but most schools will post their tuition estimates on their websites! hope this helps!
Mam,,, I have diploma in dental hygienist and I have done in India my career... If there any chance to get a job in foreign Or Arabian countries.. Plz reply
hey could you make a video on dental hygiene for smokers and drinkers?
YESSS great video idea thank you! totally adding to my list!
Hi! I recently got interested in dental hygiene. I found a program that claims to be 18 months. The websites claim that it is a accredit and that you could obtain an associates degree in dental hygiene. Do you think this is a legitimate school? Most school I know are at least 24 months so I donât know if this is a shady school or not. I really donât know much and have tried to do as much research as I could đ
hi friend! there are definitely accelerated programs - so it is possible! my best advice would be to call the admissions and confirm it's accredited. also - I have a list of accredited DH schools on my website (updated in 2020 still waiting on 2021 so if it's new it may not yet be on the list) - hope this helps: teethtalkgirl.com/rdh
@@TeethTalk wow literally the thing I been researching for about for two days was the first thing I saw in your website! I wish I saw this earlier it would have made my life so much easier but thank you thank you thank you! I have my undergrad degree but I donât know what to do with it now and was really scared. This has given me so much relief đ„ș
What's the name of the 18 month program if u dont mind please
