You are my favorite youtuber keep up the good work love ur vids
Mikey, you are too kind. TFW
Ace’s hand going in for pretzels and candy here and there makes it even more funny 😂
He enjoys his pilfering, for sure. Muzzle not the ox.......TFW
You are the epitome of what I believed I soldier would be after service. I am British and I absolutely love your channel. I love the content but also your personality and stories! Have a great day fella.
You are very kind for saying that, David. TFW
@@MeAncient I was curious, what does "TFW" mean/stand for? I've never seen it used before i started watching your videos.
@@josh1200 TFW stands for Thanks For Watching
For year my comfort food has been a pretzel dipped in peanut butter. I'm glad I am not the only one who loves the combo
That's right! TFW
That normality in the mist of the chaos of war is something my uncle (Comando in Africa during the Colonial Wars here in Portugal) use to talk about, like being in a large town having a beer in the local cafe, while in the outskirts of town the rebels and the regular troops where fighting in the bush and in the farmlands and they could listen to the firefight and they, the soldiers, and the civilians, were so use to it they continued their life as usual. Mind numbing what a human being can get use to...
Great video, and a good story, as always...
Yes, the ability of man to adjust to terrible situations is amazing. TFW!
Dziękuję za kolejny ciekawy odcinek 👍🏼😁
Regards from Poland! 🤙
Would love to see Asa's reactions on the items too, he always is the voice of reason when something comes out of the packet looking "sus" lol
Perhaps we should put a camera just filming him while he is filming me and the food just to get his reactions. TFW
Do you ever swim in that pool? If I had a pool like that, I'd never get out! Well, except to pee and eat. LOL.
@@MeAncientdefinitely
@@DrummerGrrrl I swim in that pool nearly every day. We have never had a pool. Didn't know what we were missing........TFW
I already know this video is gonna be great. Love the videos, Sir❤
I appreciate that. TFW
Omg the father son bonding in this video is so great I love it
Me and my girlfriend really enjoy watching your videos! Yourself, Asa and Micah are three great family oriented people! America needs more people like you three! My girlfriends father was also stationed in Beirut in the exact same time as you were!
I have to admit, every time you get into one of these “older” meals, I get a bit nervous. I feel a genuine sense of relief when things go well. CHEERS SIR!
You and me both! TFW, Eric
Agreed! 😅 can get a bit dicey with some ingredients for sure! When something smells fermented or sharp especially! 😬 the Beirut photos were super cool! 📸
I used to watch every episode as soon as they came out but recently life has thrown so many curveballs I took a break from CZcams. I’m very glad you are still doing theses videos I love them I love the story’s you tell as well one of the main reasons I watch thank you for making such entertaining content. These days have been getting dark the world is falling apart so it’s nice to come here and have peace thank you for your sacrifice as well you are an outstanding man
Nothing like a new Me Ancient video to liven up a cold, wet and dreary Sunday. Excellent pictures, amazing how life goes on in a war torn country. Now I have a craving for pretzel sticks and cheese.🥨🧀👍
Perhaps you will want some newer cheese. Old pretzels, ok, but old cheese, a bit sharp. TFW
Love the MRE content MeAncient. It’s awesome to see how the food holds up and the crazy things you try. Keep it up
Glad you enjoy it! TFW

First of all thank you for your service. I liked your pics. My dad served in Vietnam and he passed 4yrs ago and my grandma gave me pics he sent her when he was over there. So again, thanks for sharing all your pics.
You are welcome and I'm happy to hear you got the pix of your dad from his time overseas. TFW

Thank you for all that you do to bring us great videos.
So glad to see your video pop up. :)
Those photos are so interesting.
Its amazing how resilient the people that lived there were.
Life going on as best as it can in a war battered country.
Each photo is an important part of history and I'm very glad you have them to share.
Im not gonna lie i actually laughed out loud when you equated floaty creamer lumps with marshmallows 😂
Im so glad you got such a great 2005/6.
Its about time you tried one that was fully edible.
Such a great video to watch before I hit the sack. :)
Christine, 'fully edible' was really appreciated this time. TFW
I love the stories you tell!
I have a few more, then I'll move on to incredible ones from history. TFW
Another great video! I am glad you survived to make another one!!! Great vintage photos as well! Keep 'em coming Shipmate!! S
Got a few more pix from Beirut I'll be sharing. At least that's the plan. TFW, as always, Shannon.

It's funny as a chef hearing ace saying "I've never heard of that" in every mre vid. I feel like u are not an adventurous eater! Lol. Great vids guys! Much love

Love all the new videos sir your the best I love watching your videos after a hard day of work
Seems like you've had some good luck lately with these older MRE's! Fantastic video as always.
The two legends hell yeah awesome
Back in the 80's in Germany we used to take the hot chocolate beverage powder, sugar, creamer, and coffee mix it in the same bag and add a little water to create ranger pudding. Try it one time for us and see what you think.
Sounds great! I'll have to give that a try. TFW!
Love your content, sir! Keep up the great work
Will try. TFW
Those pics were great. Brought back a LOT of memories. I was aboard one of those ships in the picture, USS Ponce, LPD-15. I have pictures with the reverse viewpoint taken from the Ponce. That was a long freaking deployment.
Very cool! Were you allowed to come ashore? The sailors on the Iwo Jima were rarely (most never) allowed onshore. TFW
Another decent mre, some nice pictures and a lovely flashback, thanks Me Ancient 🙂
Thank you team. Keep up the good work. Your videos are the real Mcoy. Semper Fi

Hello and good morning I just stopped by to let u know how much I love your videos keep up the hard work and looking forward to the next one
Thomas, I appreciate that. TFW
That pic of the blown out buildings reminds me of once when I drove down US98 in Panama City Beach here in Florida, late 1970s. They'd just built a few hotels right on the beach. A big hurricane came roaring in, and blew all the hotel windows out! Then later on my Navy Med/IO deployment, 1983, we saw those buildings in Beirut.
Lance, were you on shore? I know a few corpsmen back in the day......TFW
My Sunday ritual thanks chief

Also raspberry applesauce is the bomb. That you can't find it on a grocery store shelf is a crime against humanity😂

Love these mre videos guys!!
Glad you like them! TFW
Thanks for the video!
I looked back at the video of comparing chicken and noodle training meal to MRE, and in one of those meals you had apples with raspberry sauce or something similar. Perhaps the taste was similar to this MRE raspberry apple sauce, just a little fresher? Lol.
One of my favorite mres.. Heat up the cheese and pour it into the pretzels!!!!
I didn't want hot cheese on that day. Too hot already. TFW
Hey brother! I was deployed to Beirut twice in 82 and again in 83, both times on the USS Guam. My first MRE was eaten at Beirut Airport in late 83! Before that, it was all C-rats. Semper Fi!
Very cool Amigo! Good looking meal. M&M's held up well, no normal signs of age. That main, I have only tried once. It was A solid component. Over all, your meal looks excellent for the age Bro. Glad you enjoyed. Peace from Ky. John. Nicely done sir.
JOHN, tks for that and TFW from Kentucky
Your a brave man I wouldn't have ate the cheese
It was good, if you like sharp cheddar.....
Another wonderful video, Me Ancient. The heater in that MRE looked like it worked as it should. I wonder if putting the food pouch in first, then adding the water makes it work better, since the pouch displaces some of the water. Might be a more accurate way of measuring how much water goes in the heater, not sure. Possibly the citric acid in the raspberries caused the slightly off taste, since you mentioned that tomatoes don't stand up too well? Looking forward to more, loved the pictures, and the stories of the places you saw during your military service. God bless.
Great observation regarding the acid in the raspberries. TFW!
The instructions on the bag actually say to place the MRE main in the bag before adding water. But you are supposed to hold it and the heater above the water line while adding water, mainly on the heater unit, then slide it down with the heater unit on bottom. when you lay it on a rock or something. After heating the main you are supposed to add water and coffee pack to the heater to make you coffee, and then use the canteen cup.
@@davidloganguest9662 David, I'll try and remember to try that next time. Tks for the tip & TFW!
One of the bumps on the horizon is certainly BB 62 USS New Jersey. "Firepower for Freedom".

Whats really a shame is Beirut used to be a paradise resort back in the day. Its come a long way back but will never be the same!
The Paris of the Mediterranean, they say. TFW
@@MeAncient exactly from what I've heard
When you get a candy pack like M&M’s look for the good by date. They always print it on candies like that.
My guess it was same as the food stuff, 2005 or 2006 timeframe. TFW
Thank you for a welcome diversion. This MRE was certainly well preserved. Back-to-back storms and a mandatory water release to prevent overpressure at a few of our dams have slowed us down with some flooding. We will venture out from our ark soon and get rocking. We are thankful that our home remained dry and for the internet that allowed us to check on the safety of relatives across town as well as friends on the other side of the globe.
Jack, I'm happy to hear you are safe. I saw something about monsoonal rains in that area of the world......Happy to have made a good diversion for you, my friend. Stay as dry as possible and TFW, as always.
If I remember right this was a good one
It sure was good, still today. TFW
Hello Me ancient. I love the videos. I also like when you are in aces videos. Also, what is the biggest fish you’ve ever caught? Mine is a 30 pound chinook salmon.
Good question! Probably a shark that we couldn't weigh because the it wouldn't stay on the scales. Too big and jumpy and scales were too small. TFW and Congrats no the 30# salmon.
Hey for the next mre heat source you should double fold the top and sake it so water can go around around the heat pad sorry if it didn’t make sence
Always glad when you upload my friend. Thankful that you're doing okay and that you represent Christ on your CZcams channel.
My pleasure and you are welcome. TFW
👍
thumbs up back atcha. TFW
I'm pretty sure the impacts on the cinder block wall are from ak (762) rounds. Enjoying the conent keep it coming.
Tks for the info. As I said, I was not in any kind of weapons outfit. TFW
You throw the cardboard sleeves away but if you put the meal in the heater back in the box, it helps the heater bag stay closed and helps the heater heat the meal better.. Chocolate would have mixed better if you had used some hot water to get it hydrated then added the cold water it would have mixed so much better. Love your vlogs especially our stories.
Sandra, no cardboard sleeves in these MREs. Just a clear 'hot water bag' and the heater in its own bag. TFW
@@MeAncient the box the meal pouch comes in.
Cracking video as usual my good sir that actually looks a yummy MRE I have acquired a certain brand of candy bar you haven't had for 40yrs ill try and get them sent to you keep up the good work from joff the trucker in the UK
TFW, as always!
Watching you eat makes me realize how much Asa looks like you.
True that. My wife says Micah from High Adventure Videos looks and acts most like me at that age. TFW
That was at one time the place to go!
That is amazing that you can eat an 18 year old MRE and it not taste bad.
It really is amazing. Have you seen the most recent one where the MRE is 32 years old? Check it out. TFW, Travis.
Hey huge fan dude can u get the Chinese more done please
Charles, I would absolutely love to get my hands on a Chinese MRE. Not sure where I could find one. TFW
Now I wanna try military food
yummie
If you could get your hands on the Menu #5 from around 2012, it's the Chicken Tomato Feta and it's one of my favorites. Would love to see what you think of it since some people love it and some people don't!
If I can get my hands on one, I'll be sure to try it. TFW
That cocoa beverage powder will always clump in cold water. It needs heat to melt the fats in it. The fats are for mouth feel and richness.
Thank you for your service. How does one get the info to send you a MRE?
Can you heat the cocoa beverage in that beverage bag and in the heater with the main maybe?
It was a storage warehouse next to a grain elevator that blew up.
Hey Me Ancient, How are you? I really enjoy seeing the pics you have of Beirut. I don't remember seeing a Ferris wheel when I was there, was that on the north west side of town? I have a question for you, have you ever got' sick from eating those old MREs. I like to buy the 24 hr rations and take them to the job site and eat them for lunch. You should check out the 24 hr Zombie rations, if you want to try a modern ration. Take care.
