How To Add Rear Remotes To A Kubota BX23S or BX25D - No.21

  • Add rear hydraulic remotes to your BX23S or BX25D. I install rear remotes on my Kubota BX series tractor/loader/backhoe. I used components sourced from Canadian supplier Princess Auto (PA). I have included both the part numbers and a description of the item - so if you don't have access to a PA you can find what you need somewhere else. Don't hesitate to tackle this job guys! You can do it! Comment if you have any questions or comments and I will be happy to help if I can.

    I love this project and this channel, been here before cause it caught my attention and it did it again, I need to do this to but I'm at a crossroads sort of after owning our BX23s for 1year and running into some trouble I'm wondering whether I bought to SMALL of a tractor?
    But that all aside I love How you solved this problem, A LOT of guys are going to copy this one I can assure you off that !!!!! 👍
    There is however one thing I would like to comment on, that's your use of teflon tape the kind of teflon tape you use..... the yellow stuff is way too thick and stiff for hydraulic application you see and that is why you where having trouble putting it on and then getting the fittings to go on more then a few treads before the teflon would just push up ....... The yellow stuff is really only for gas pipe and gas fittings!!! I hate to bring you this bad news but I'm afraid you may be in for some leaks in your future...... Maybe not.... I don't know for sure it's possible that you may get lucky and that it works OK but I would not want to bet on it......
    Anyway you can see how it goes or fix it now, up to you. I think you did a great job solving an issue that is a problem for a lot of fellows out there and I am one of them so thanks, I just feel its best to also let you know when I see a potential issue. Regards Ed

      Thanks a lot for the kind words and the tip Ed!! All criticism is welcome on my channel! I knew that the yellow Teflon tape wasn’t correct but it was what I could find at the store and I wanted to get it together ASAP - I was excited 😆. No leaks yet - but if it starts to leak I will probably reassemble it with either the appropriate Teflon tape or Loctite! I also need to look at installing the power beyond adapter as suggested by a few others in the comments. If you think you bought too small a tractor - you probably did 😞 I often feel the same way - I need double the HP and a cab. Again, thank you and have a great day! - James

    Great series of videos. I am in the process of building a walking beam trailer and would be grateful for some information about your trailer:
    What is the size of the hydraulic cylinder?
    How much weight have you been able to dump?
    When the box is down, what is the angle of the cylinder to the horizontal?
    What strengthening is there on the bottom of the box where the cylinder connects? I am aiming for a lift of 1000 kg so the force required to start the lift is substantial and I am concerned about the connection giving way.
    Again, good work - thanks for your efforts in recording and posting these!

      I have three hydraulic lines to my backhoe as well. I didn’t bother connecting the power beyond because the valve block is the last in the flow before dumping to tank - I don’t think it makes a difference. I may add the power beyond adaptor to my valve block in the spring just because I know a lot of people have been asking for it and it would technically be the proper way to have it set up. I bought the power beyond adaptor at the same time as the block. Thanks for your comment Simon!!

      Hi Joseph!! I’m not too sure about the John Deere 2210. It all depends on what you have available in terms of a hydraulic circuit. If you can locate pressure, return to tank and power beyond I wouldn’t hesitate personally but I recommend you find others with your model tractor and see what they say. There has to be someone on CZcams!! The hydraulic control block was from princess auto in Canada. You’ll need a block that matches your system’s flow rate etc.

    How is this working for you. I'll be honest I know little about hydraulics. I thought about doing this same thing before I came across yours and, Going Bright's video doing the same thing. The reason I thought it wouldn't work comes from tractor chat rooms. There are many people who have asked about doing it this way, only to have a member of those forums tell them to study up on what the 3rd line does. The only fear/question I have about doing it this way. ( I want to so it's easily removable.) Why does Summit offers kits that plug into JD's BH ports. Their kits for bx23's don't, they have you remove the Tank and PB hardline and connect 2 hoses to those ports on the top and side of transmission.

    • @KillingItCountry
      @KillingItCountry  Před rokem +1

      Hi James (great name BTW!!). I don't know a ton about hydraulics either to be fair - my experience is more related to trouble shooting and maintenance than design and implementation. Having said that, I feel confident that my set-up is functioning as intended. You're right about the forums - smart people out there - but they don't know everything and neither do I! This is how I talk to myself about power beyond ... "Will I require power BEYOND this point in my hydraulic circuit?" For me the answer was no. After my hydraulic block (rear remotes), the only place the hydraulic fluid is going is back to tank - period. Whether it leaves the block via the "Tank" or "PB" port makes no difference to me and hasn't affected the operation of the tractor, back-hoe or anything I connect to the rear remotes. When I purchased the hydraulic block I also bought the accessory to enable PB if necessary. It's still sitting on my desk. People also said I shouldn't use tephlon tape because it leaks. I' still waiting for that to happen. I wish you all the best on your project! Feel free to check back ad pick my brain if you would like! Cheers!

    I don't think the looped return goes back to the tank. I think it might power the 3 PT hitch, otherwise there would be no use for the second tank return line. The way you have it set up when you lift something heavy with the 3 PT you will be pressurizing the tank output of your spool valve. Not a great idea, you should add the power beyond adapter. That is why your backhoe connects with 3 lines, pressure in, power beyond and tank return.
    I could be wrong but you may want to check before you use the 3 PT to lift anything heavy.

    • @KillingItCountry
      @KillingItCountry  Před 3 lety +1

      I’ve already used the 3pt to move a 25’ camper trailer and it worked flawlessly just as before I made any modifications. 🤷‍♂️ I’ve also been using a Woodland Mills WC46 wood chipper which weighs 550 pounds. I’ll keep researching ….. I’ve been wrong before. Thanks for your comment.

    • @Frank-is3gr
      @Frank-is3gr Před 3 lety +1

      @@KillingItCountry It will work, but you are putting all that pressure back on the output of the new spool valve. If you operate one of the spool valves at the same time it will force that pressure to the return side of the spool and not allow the spool valve to return fluid to the tank. The power beyond adapter will isolate the power beyond port from the tank port so the spool valve will work normally no mater what is happening with the hydraulic flow out of the power beyond port. If you never lift with the 3 PT or use the backhoe and use the Aux spool valve at the same time it doesn't matter. However if you used one of the remotes for the thumb of your backhoe you may get some unexpected results when curling the bucket and using the thumb at the same time. If it works for you then no problem, however I'm not sure it's the 100% correct way to do it. This is why your backhoe has 3 lines pressure in, power beyond and tank

    • @KillingItCountry
      @KillingItCountry  Před 3 lety

      I purchased the power beyond adapter when I bought the spool valve ….. it’s probably no problem to put it in the system - I just have to be able to add and remove the backhoe easily and maintain the functionality of the remotes. Thank you so much for the detail of your comments - I’ll look into this further for sure.

    • @Frank-is3gr
      @Frank-is3gr Před 3 lety

      @@KillingItCountry If you don't think you'll ever need to move the 3pt and use one of the remotes at the same time you can just connect the backhoe before the remote valve. Between the tractor and the valve instead of after it. That way it will work for your backhoe thumb. It's not a big deal your tractor doesn't really have enough hydraulic flow to operate multiple things at the same time anyway. Still a very useful video, nice to see some Canadian content on CZcams. Keep up the good work.
