Peavey sounds more scooped with pedals, Fender sounds more mid rangy with pedals. I actually love the sound of the Peavey clean. I'll bet they would sound awesome with a splitter box played together.
I have that same exactly Peavey amp model , right now in a friends house who is self learning playing guitar alongside with my Squire Bullet Telecaster . I liked more the Peavey it sounded more open dimensional sound but much more quiet , the fender sounded louder and fat sound . If i was to buy one now would be the Fender 😊
I bought a Bronco in a Torquay music shop a couple of years back for an absolute bargain price - best impulse buy ever! It's an amazing little amp. I'd been looking on reverb for one for a while, and I saw it and couldn't believe how little the guy was asking for it. That amp will never leave me. In another weird turn of events - I was helping a retired music teacher move house, and for a thank you, he said I could have this mini marshall stack he had in his loft... it was the magnificent marshall lead 12 stack! I'd been looking for one for ages! Another awesome litte amp 😁 I guess good things come in small packages lol! Great video Dave lad 👍🎸
Excellent video like some others thought Bronco was great on clean. But preferred the Peavy amp on all other aspects. As always Dave you are master of the guitar. Keep up the awesome content.
Hey Fast-Hand Dave, again phenomenal playing … loved the SRV-style. Winner for me: Peavey - Sounding clear and articulated, and sounding more fenderish then the Fender! The Fender sounded muffly (does that word exist in English?) to me. Just saw a video today about Peavey … I guess they are coming back. I own an Peavey Classic Mini - also a great small (20W) amp 😉
I have the rage 158 it's absolutely insane for a baby the Peavey transtube series with the bandits and the big Special 2x12 are absolutely incredible solid-state amps
The bronco is my fav on all the 3 ways !! clean tone was way smoother I think and the distorded tone was mad good too such a beautiful round tone. But there is definetly something in that peavy
I’m from your area Dave, you’ll either live in a terraced/semi detached house or if you are lucky you will be in a rural detached house out of the way. I was wondering the same as these guys.
Dave, I preferred the Peavey on everything but the clean tone. On Clean I thought the bronco sounded fuller. I think I could probably eq the peavey out to my tastes. I enjoyed the camparison. These small amps tubed or solid states are full of surprises.
Thanks Dave, I preferred the Peavy, sounded warmer to me but thats just my opinion for what its worth? I would like to purchase two small output amps for playing around with a Stereo soundscape at home, what would you suggest???
Both are awesome amps! I do like the Rage a lil more especially your Clean Overdrive sound. I loved the Pedalboard Tones more on the Bronco. When you did the Straight In Clean tones tests, that's where it got very interesting for me. I thought the Bronco had more low end grittiness that the Rage was missing.. yet the Rage had a certain sparkle and range the Bronco was missing. Dave, have you ever hooked both up at the same time to balance them both together? That would be interesting get best of both worlds. Awesome amps! I'd probably use the Bronco more for bluesy bedroom jamming and the Rage for all around stuff. Awesome stuff!!
Had the bronco . Those are actually high quality sought after amps . Super clear and touch sensitive solid state amps . Mine , unfortunately, accidentally went into the dump . Was a great little amp.
a little birdy told me a crate gx15 even a gx15r wants to join the party haha!!! i liked both of your amps there....crate is awesome too...i hope you bag one and have a go with it!
Many many years ago I was in Musical Exchanges Brum(sadly missed) to buy a Bronco--they were on special offer--but after trying it in the shop I ended up buying a Peavey instead. The Bronco sounded like the speaker was in a bucket whereas the Peavey was much fuller and more "grown up".
As someone who bought the Rage because of Dave a few years ago.. i still love the thing even though I've moved to plugins. Anyhoo, if you wanna play metal through it here are the best settings i found for lower tunings. PreGain 6, PostGain 3 (gets real loud), Bass 5, Mid 10, High 4, Vintage voicing. You can add a decent distortion pedal in front, just make sure the highs on it are off (if it has that option).
The Bronco sounded much more open than the Peavey in the recording; I'm sure it would have sounded very different in the room. I am a big fan of old Peavey amps and have been using a VTX Heritage for larger gigs until recently; a beautiful beast I'll never let go of. I feel that the Rage needs a second hearing. Also, your flamboyant flourishes during your customary opening greets were a treat to behold.
Rage is an underestimated giant. I push my Bronco's OD channel with full bass, mid and treble no higher than 3, and just enough overdrive to grit single notes - add a TS9ish rude enough pedal and I'm hearing the Neil Young kind of Tweed sound. Hard to pick a winner, they're both great at what they do.
I guess I'd better dig up my teal stripe Peavey Rage, which I bought from a hock shop in Wollongong, south of Sydney, Aus, about 20 years ago, with a "Status Silhouette" Strat shaped object. The Peavey needs "something" to get it working again. Another Peavey of mine, a Classic 30, needs "something" as well. Many more amps, pedals & guitars in line before that tho. Cheers Dave
This is a first. I liked the Fender better than the Peavey. It was probably the Celestion speaker 🔈. I have those in both of my Fender amps. I think of Peavey as practice amps for teenage boys with Kramer style shred guitars. I wasn’t listening with headphones 🎧 and that might make some difference but I’m sure I would still like the Fender. I’ve never seen a Bronco so I’m guessing it’s a vintage amp. Nice job with the shellac. That was a really good idea 🧠. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎵🩵
on it's own i preferred the peavey tones, but in a band practice the fender would cut through far better. i think they are complimentary so run both together via a splitter pedal?
I have a vintage vsa500 and I will buy a peavey rage 258 after seeing your video showing peavey amp. I would like to see you comparing a vintage VSA500 x ES-335 as you did years ago on a vintage v100 x gibson les paul
*Which one did you like and why?* Probably the Peavey, but not always. I think the Fender is better at lead. Maybe the Fender is better then? The Fender.
Fender Bronco is easy winner for me, even though it sounds like an American football player. Warmer sounding, better looking and more vintage of a tone, or maybe the varnish swayed my opinion. I am gonna have a look see on the tinternet - Yep, apparently varnish is a tone producing substance and if you apply it to a tone wood you get double toneness. As I suspected.
Peavey for heavier stuff for sure - better low end presence. Fender maybe better suited to cleaner tones? Peavey had bigger balls despite being quieter as you said - volume difference not apparent in this demo to me. Fender has the looks though!
Change the Peavey speaker to something equal and get back to me. Not a fair fight. Also, I think the lead channel with no gain is a better clean tone. The clean channel is slightly more sterile sounding. I agree they would probably sound great together as is. I do have a couple Rages and no Broncos… I will keep an eye out though.
The peavey by a mile is way better... Small amps are great... Every guitarist should have one. Bung a reverb pedal Infront of one as they tend to be weak on the 'verb.
I bought a used Peavey Rage for $45, so that I could have something to leave in the band room and not having to worry if it got stolen. Easily replaceable at that price. I had a new Bronco in the mid 90's and it was the only amp I didn't get back after a divorce. Wish I still had it, they are a lot more exspensive to replace. Really like the Peavey, miss the Bronco. A tie?
Mmmm... Solid State AMP's ?? This Fender did 'it' for me... each time... every time... Really prefer Tooooooooooobs... Valves... but would have liked to hear Humbuckers thrown in ?? Cheers...
@@thedavesimpsona bit of a shame what’s happened to Peavey they’ve discontinued a few of their classic series amps I don’t think anything is made in the USA anymore not the company they were in the 80s and 90s by the way I way my local music shop Sky Music that Shane demos for and they were saying Gibson is for sale again 😮
The a Peavey sounds more Fender Blackface scooped mid and the Fender sounds more well tweed those little old tweed amps were known for sounding boxy actually Peavey I’d probably choose Fender is more a niche tone
Big fan of the channel - peavey all day long very transparent. As a fellow strat player you have to be very careful to be true to the tone the other amp was far too mid range - great if thats what you are going for but for me it did not quite capture the strat sound i would go for - great video as always.
I actually Loved the Bronco. The natural volume and distortion sounded more classic and tweedy. The Peavy was better on some things, but the Bronco had others better.
I think the sound mixer man didn't do a good job today. Sorry Dave. Peavey sounded muffled through my set-up. Most probably sounded better in your room.
The title of Mr Slowhand is gone, Dave. Sorry for that! I think both don't like the Fuzz. The Fender seems not to like the straight in distortion. To me it sounds a bit agonized but the Peavey absolutely not. Overall I prefer the Fender over the Peavey. The Bronco sounds older, not as clean as the Rage. Maybe wider although the Rage is clearly brighter. Can I say the Fender is a bit more muddy? But I prefer it, just my personal taste. My age I think. And remember I'm not a musician.
Before hearing them I would have gone for the Peavey. It was hard to differentiate when they were used as pedal platforms, but as soon as you went with direct tones the Fender was a lot clearer and brighter. So much so that it made the Peavey sound muffled in comparison.
I love you Dave, but I think both amps sounds like ass. The Peavey sounded okay clean, but everything else sounded like you were playing through a wool blanket. The Fender sounded worse on every setting...really bad. Sorry - just giving my honest opinion...
Peavey sounds more scooped with pedals, Fender sounds more mid rangy with pedals. I actually love the sound of the Peavey clean. I'll bet they would sound awesome with a splitter box played together.
We definitely need a how to varnish a tweed amp video.
the only thing I can say is that you hear it better in the room...so i trust you
Always entertaining, thank you!
So glad that I found your channel.
I enjoy all your videos, keep up the great work 👍
Always a great Friday night when I see a new video and chill and enjoy

Ooo timely Dave, I’ve just this week scooped up a peavey rage. Nice one 👍🏼
Voyage of discovery… 😂 that tickled me! Great video man
Dave is the king of the blues.❤❤❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏👍🙏👍🙏👍
Not surprised that the Peavey more than held its own. In my opinion the red stripe amps were the best solid state amps ever made.
What a great video have a good weekend Dave ❤😊

Hey Dave, great shot out!… I’m a peavey fan and that lil rage did it for me . Keep up the guitar channel it’s a regular here in Oklahoma
Peavey for distorted tones. Fender for the clean tones
A good pedal an either guitar can do both.
Excellent video like some others thought Bronco was great on clean. But preferred the Peavy amp on all other aspects. As always Dave you are master of the guitar. Keep up the awesome content.
OK now I want to varnish the tweed on my old Pro Jr. I learned something new.
Ahh a new Dave video to make me wanna buy things I don't need. LOL
And yeah I preferred the Peavey in every single clip.
Nice work
I have to guess which one hell pick ...befor i watch it : The Peavey...hell pick the Peavey
The Peavey visually reminds me of those old BB Blaster practice amps
If i had to choose, it would be the " bronco".
Not too sure, but that speaker change sounds brilliant.
Or is it that the Peavey has a cleaner overdrive?! Oh, this is driving me nuts!
Hey Fast-Hand Dave,
again phenomenal playing … loved the SRV-style.

By looks I want the Fender as by sound as well. No worries Dave you got'em both 😊
Enjoy no matter what I say.
Do you ever get noise complaints from neighbours? 😅
I was thinking the same.

I've owned a bronco and quite a few peaveys...if you can find a vox pathfinder 15r, it blows away both these amps
Thanks Dave, I preferred the Peavy, sounded warmer to me but thats just my opinion for what its worth? I would like to purchase two small output amps for playing around with a Stereo soundscape at home, what would you suggest???

*Which one did you like and why?* Probably the Peavey, but not always. I think the Fender is better at lead. Maybe the Fender is better then? The Fender.
The Rage was more versatile, sounded good clean or distorted. The Bronco would be good for delta blues with a slide, maybe some clean rhythm work.
Hi
My Friend!
Can you help me ?
How do I get the best sound from a loper-wah peddel?
I liked the Bronco better plugged straight in at OD settings. I liked the Peavey better for everything else
Peavy Red Stripe for me in this case.
I thought the Peavey sounded better, I think the 80s early 90's Peaveys are very underrated! I got a Peavey Encore 65 which is a great little amp.
Be cool to hear a Les Paul style guit with them both
Fender sounds way better to me. The Peavey sounded lifeless.
The Fender has a better quality of sound. It's conveying more information on how Dave is picking the string. The Fender wins.
Peavey for me, the fender has had mods to it so it's not a true comparison. Still fun , thank you.
Fender for me. 👍
Ive got the Rage 158. The headphone output is like a trapped wasp, unusable.
Peavey for heavier stuff for sure - better low end presence. Fender maybe better suited to cleaner tones? Peavey had bigger balls despite being quieter as you said - volume difference not apparent in this demo to me. Fender has the looks though!
Rage for me.. choosing this l guess puts me in the minority!.. my first amp was a Peavey Envoy so l'm biased! Great demo Dave!🙂
I’d like to hear them together.

I am shocked. I thought the Fender would hands down win this but the Peavey just blew it away . That I was not expecting.
Huh. I have a Fender Bronco, but it's a modelling bass amp, and I think 40 Watts... I barely touch it so can't remember all the details.
I bought a used Peavey Rage for $45, so that I could have something to leave in the band room and not having to worry if it got stolen. Easily replaceable at that price. Bronco was old school cool
Peavey "but"... how do they sound wet/dry mix?
The fender is more my type of sound.
Mmmm... Solid State AMP's ?? This Fender did 'it' for me... each time... every time... Really prefer Tooooooooooobs... Valves... but would have liked to hear Humbuckers thrown in ?? Cheers...
Do you watch In the blues channel with Shane? , the Peavey Bandit is one of his favourite all time amps solid state or transistor
I do yes.

Wow I have Peavey 158 FOR SALE FOR £20 & cannot sell it.
I want to buy this peavey amp
I like the peavey myself
you make both amps soud great but i go for peavey
Peavey for the win. Better clarity
Peavey hands down, made the bronco sound like a biscuit tin speaker😂 more range in the Peavey ❤👍

I'm somewhat surprised to say that the Peavey Rage swept this comparison to my ears! Well done, Dave!
Peavy sounds better to me. It's "Dusty" it's more whole, it's got more depth to me. Just my 2centz.
I think the sound mixer man didn't do a good job today. Sorry Dave. Peavey sounded muffled through my set-up. Most probably sounded better in your room.
Is it the Fender? Did I win the Car? 🙂
