- A terrible name for an awesome ski line. Did we climb this iconic couloir "the right way", for some probably not. Did we do it the best way, definitely! Nothing beats the Helicopter approach especially when you're laying in bed, setting your alarm at an unforgiving time and thinking about the 9 hours of total drive time required to ski this relatively short shot. Short but definitely awesome.
Thought this was a announcement of the worst news.. luckily its just a trail name lol

I've skied this line 8 times or more, my first time in 1991. You guys don't understand us here, that's clear. Firstly, we are not a wasteland and a visit to our area with respect would clear that ignorance right up. I was born here. I have skied all the major peaks in the Rubies here over thirty years. This fly richy rich scene you are bringing is why our sport is turning into another elite, money game. Some thing wrong with your outlook guys....sadly, it's not righteous anymore!
Thanks for sharing these adventures with the world. Im stuck in the midwest now and watching these makes me want to go out and try and find some sea level adventures and make the most of my time on the planet.

You guys should try the white mountain hut traverse, a legendary challenge for those who work in the white mountain huts. Its 52 miles of the hardest terrain of the Appalachian Trail with over 25000 feel of elevation gain.
That is truly an as kicker. Many people from the west coast have no idea how punishing the Whites can be, straight up, straight down, no switchbacks. Dont let the low elevation fool you.

It just blows my mind how skiers can keep skiing all the time like that. That was so much work to just ski right down it lol I used to love skiing and boarding as a teenager but I grew out of that. I love hiking the ruby mountains hunting a deer but if I’m not chasing a deer it’s hard to force myself to climb the rubies they will defeat you one way or another. That scenery is awesome tho guys 👍🏻

How is it that no one else in the comments finds it offensive and self-serving to FLY A HELICOPTER to the very base of the route?! Elitist snob(3:15) and line cutting guilt (5:35) indeed! This really throws the essence of backcountry skiing out the window! I can only hope the sentiment behind this assisted ascent does not become a more widespread trend.
I’m sorry I just have to chuckle. Have you been to this line? You drive a car right to the very base of the route. We simply landed the heli on the other side of the river, maybe 200 ft away maybe shaving 10 minutes off the climb, lol, and it was so non-conspicuous the guys in the van on the road didn’t even realize we were there. I’d argue that we “left no trace” better than most who go out there. And say we drove our gas guzzler suv out there that morning and passed the other party on the freeway? Should we still feel ashamed for “cutting the line”? How far do we take this?

On a side note, I'd like you guys to consider doing a video climbing up Mt. Lemmon, located on the North side of Tucson, AZ. It is a shade over 9,100 ft w/ about 5,500 ft of elevation gain if you summit from the south slopes. It wouldn't be the most challenging outing you've done by far, but you get to transition from a desert climate (Sonora) at the base to an alpine climate at the peak.
This feature is so unique to the mountains in this region that ecologists call them "sky islands." If you do the shoot in the winter you can ski down a small portion of the mountain. The southern most ski lift & runs in N. America are located on Mt. Lemmon which makes it a bucket list worthy thing to do!

Gives me an adventure bone stiffie! It's a cool line. When I skied it solo one spring there were moguls in the thing. No chopper though.

Some say the adventure bone is the most important of the human body, but most agree it is the most mysterious. It’s exact location is not known, in many it is considered vestigial or completely undeveloped. For some, most likely those with a higher percentage Neanderthal genes that normal, scientists believe there is hope to one day identify it. Further genetic testing needs to be done, but it is believed these people could be distant relatives of Otzi the “Ice Man”, one of the first specimens to give hope of finding the bone. Part of the challenge is most of the people that are thought to have a noticeable one, tend towards high risk activities and it is believed to grow in times of excitement, and retreat or disappear completely with a lack of stimulation, not unlike other parts of the human body. Unfortunately by the time most of the specimens reach autopsy it is thought the bone is generally used up or pulverized due to blunt trauma in younger bodies, or completely disintegrated due to lack of use and decreased blood flow in older ones. It’s name refers not only to the ongoing scientific pursuit to find an intact specimen, but also the colloquial term used to describe the excited reproductive organs, and the distinct tingle that is thought to be responsible both for the desire to reproduce, and ironically to seek out adventures which often times hinder or negate that ability. Further study is needed, the focus is mainly on male species, as females are generally more intelligent and less drawn to high risk behavior, leading to the hypothesis that they are indeed more advanced as evidenced by their higher rates of loss of this vestigial yet fascinating part of the human anatomy. Fortunately identifying living specimens thought to have intact adventure bones for study is easier than ever, as they can often be found posting videos of their behavior on popular websites such CZcams. This not to be confused with other media outlets such as those that focus on political or financial news, where video participants can sometimes mimic the audacious or boisterous vocalizations of those with active adventure bones, but distinguished by their general lack of physical activity and vigor.

These guys are funny I love how they get after it! As a mountaineer, I think its super cool they approached it with the bird. Regarding ethics, the issue to me really is whether the other party were still on the road, or were they climbing up already. I have accessed this line with the snowmobile, and dont consider it cheating. Most people fly into Denali at 7000+ feet, and if successful, say they "climbed Denali". They really only climbed "on Denali". As unethical and inaccurate as rich guys saying they "built a house" when other people built it. If the other party of there were already "on slope" THAT would be pretty reprehensible.....

I live in this region, I understand why some are mad about landing right there. However, what I havnt seen in the comments is that the Ruby 360 lodge has a helicopter at the base of the canyon that anyone with some money can take a ride up in it to the top of the mountain and get dropped off to ski down. So what is the difference between that, and what these guys did? If im not mistaken they land in the same area as they did.

Can I suggest “Matterhorn Peak” on the Sawtooth Ridge in the Eastern Sierra? Incredible scenery on the hike in and apparently famous with backcountry skiers.
You guys should ski the couloir on Whitetail Peak in the Beartooths in Montana. Its 10 mile hike on a trail to the base
