    About Austin, Texas:
    🟢 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin,...
"Bastrop's namesake, Felipe Enrique Neri, Baron de Bastrop, was a commoner named Philip Hendrik Nering Bogel, who was wanted for embezzlement in his native country of the Netherlands. In Texas, he assisted Moses and Stephen F. Austin in obtaining land grants in Texas and served as Austin's land commissioner. In 1827, Austin located about 100 families in an area adjacent to his earlier Mexican contracts. Austin arranged for Mexican officials to name a new town there after the baron who died the same year."
"Overlooking the center of the town is the Lost Pines Forest. Composed of loblolly pines (Pinus taeda), the forest is the center of the westernmost stand of the southern pine forest. As the only timber available in the area, the forest contributed to the local economy. Bastrop began supplying Austin with lumber in 1839 and then San Antonio, the western Texas frontier, and parts of Mexico."
"A fire in 1862 destroyed most of downtown Bastrop's commercial buildings and the county courthouse. As a result, most current downtown structures postdate the Civil War. In 1979, the National Register of Historic Places admitted 131 Bastrop buildings and sites to its listings. This earned Bastrop the title of the "Most Historic Small Town in Texas"."
"The Bastrop Independent School District serves Bastrop. Some residents are zoned to Mina Elementary School, while others are zoned to Emile Elementary School. All residents are zoned to Bastrop Intermediate School, Bastrop Middle School, and Bastrop High School.
Austin Community College conducts night and continuing-education classes at Bastrop High School."
"Austin is the capital city of the U.S. state of Texas, as well as the seat and largest city of Travis County, with portions extending into Hays and Williamson counties. Incorporated on December 27, 1839, it is the 11th-most populous city in the United States, the fourth-most-populous city in Texas, and the second-most-populous state capital city (after Phoenix, Arizona). It has been one of the fastest growing large cities in the United States since 2010. Austin is the southernmost state capital in the contiguous United States and is considered a "Beta −" global city as categorized by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network."
"Residents of Austin are known as Austinites. They include a diverse mix of government employees, college students, musicians, high-tech workers, digital marketers, and blue-collar workers. The city's official slogan promotes Austin as "The Live Music Capital of the World", a reference to the city's many musicians and live music venues, as well as the long-running PBS TV concert series Austin City Limits. The city also adopted "Silicon Hills" as a nickname in the 1990s due to a rapid influx of technology and development companies. In recent years, some Austinites have adopted the unofficial slogan "Keep Austin Weird", which refers to the desire to protect small, unique, and local businesses from being overrun by large corporations. Since the late 19th century, Austin has also been known as the "City of the Violet Crown", because of the colorful glow of light across the hills just after sunset."

I have lived here for 20+ years and absolutely love it. Great people and beautiful pines in the neighborhoods on the east side of the city. 30 minutes from Tesla makes it even more attractive. All the amenity's of Austin without the crowds. Drive through Tahitian Village if you get the chance and stop in at Kyoto's for some of the best Sushi you have ever had or Southside for the BBQ. Either way, you won't be disappointed. Welcome to Central Texas and I hope your life here is as good as my family has been.

I have lived her for 8 going on 9 years .. I purchased my property for 60k for 2.69 acres. I have spent a small amount of coin rehabbing the property and fixing things up . Just recently a close neighbor put up a similar property for sale for 500k It has absolutely boomed out here in such a short time. Glad I got my slice of the pie. I love my home

We are charging these fools like 5x per acre what it's actually worth though. The real estate agents will say it's fair market value. Hey, 300k for a 1/4 of an acre w/ electric/water 🤑

It is not a 30 minute drive to downtown Austin. It can take over an hour depend on the time of day you are traveling.

Downtown Austin is less than 35 miles from Bastrop. Generally, it takes 35 (no traffic) to 45 mins (moderately high traffic) to get to downtown Austin. It can take over an hour but only if there's an accident, raining heavily, etc.
They are adding overpasses on 71 so it will be a straight shoot with no stoplights in a few years.

We live off 71...there are accidents almost daily. The commute to Austin is getting uglier every day

Lived in Bastrop 40 years. It takes 1.3 hours to get to downtown Austin 8 am - 10 am. *An hour throughout the day until 800 pm, then it's 50 minutes.
Don't believe these real-estate agents saying 45 minutes.

Bastrop was my father's home town and where my mother and I lived for two years while my father served as an officer in Korea. We visited Bastrop every year, sometimes making two or three trips, to visit family. In Oct 2022, my wife and I sold our house in Austin and bought a house on land five miles north of Bastrop off HW 95. For me, the move was a long-overdue homecoming, and for my wife, it was a chance to settle down in a quiet rural setting, away from the traffic and loony left-wing politics of Austin.
