Ma'am, they are trying to fool you. Fruit is naturally gluten free. It's not made of anything that contains gluten. Neither is chicken salad, unless they dumped a bag of oats or flour in it. It doesn't mean it's a special brand or anything because it says gluten free on the front. They would put that on broccoli if they thought people would by it more.
I always love your grocery hauls! I have one daughter who is going to be in first grade this coming up Monday. Crazy how fast Summer flew by!! We live in Illinois and her school lunches are $2.20 I believe but since I only work part time I qualify for free lunches, but she also brings her lunches a lot as well. She is a picky eater and I am not impressed with the school lunches as well. I have also made homemade lunchables for her last year and she absolutely loved it!! I use the ritz crackers and hard salami cuts, cracker cut cheese slices, or just string cheese. A favorite of hers is sending the Tyson grilled and ready chicken with a cup of ketchup for dipping. Or tuna salad with saltine crackers for dipping!!
I soooo wish there was a Cosco near me. You get some good looking stuff from there, especially for school lunches. We do Sams and it's ok but the Cosco stuff looks so good!

I'm a junior in high school and I bring my lunch not only because I'm a vegan and have chrons. But where I'm from in Massachusetts the much from the school cost $4.25.

This year here in AZ, we are being blessed because our school district is giving all kids free lunch and breakfast no matter the income! Those are some great finds...

These school lunch videos are mind boggling for me since I have never had to bring my own school lunches from home. I have grown in Finland with free school lunches and to me packed lunches sound both interesting and horrifying. All those little packages are so cute though!!

MsCaraya it is! If you include picky eaters In Canadian city school, some classes can be peanut free(if there is a child with allergies) and juice box free, only water. If you live in Canada ALL students must bring a filled water bottle from home. The reason why they don't allow drinks/ food items that can cause garbage buildup is the recycling programs all over. If the child brings yogurt the garbage comes home to be rinsed and put in the recycle box. All plastic bags the kids snacks are in come home as well, so I just use washable plastic containers.
This is not true. Not all Canadian schools have this garbage policy, actually this is the first I've heard of it. I have been a mom of kids in school for the last 13 years, K-12 and have lived in 2 provinces, Sask and Alberta and they have NEVER had to bring their garbage home or have a water bottle. Maybe the province you're from , but Not ALL CANADIAN SCHOOLS. All of my kids schools have a recycling program right in the school and my son's high school sells yogurt, bottles of pop, juice boxes and all manner of convenience foods in the cafeteria and they don't expect the kids to bring their garbage/recycling home. Do your research before spreading lies on the internet!

We have no Costco. .but Sam's does have organic foods and I can usually find great deals there...can't believe school is already starting I hope the kids all had a great summer!!!!!!!! :D

I live in ontario, canada and in elementary school the schools have pizza day, hot meals that your child can get but it's once month depending on where you live of course.

Love your videos...I live on the East Coast and our school lunches for elementary school are $3.35/per child...I currently have 2 in school so buying lunch would bust my bank account...we take our lunches every day here...I did put $5 in each kid's account in case they forget their lunch on the bus or whatever....and i feed 2 little one at home too so making lunches is WAY more cost effective!

I work in the lunchroom and the lunches aren't that great but my thing I have noticed is it's not enough food for my oldest and my youngest doesn't always like the choices for sides. Yes it is a little expensive unless you can qualify for reduced or free. I have packed my kids lunches for the last 2 years. This way I know what they are eating and that they will eat it all because they choose it. Also my daughter is type 1 diabetic and this way I can control her carbs and not have to worry about her blood sugar.

The freeze dried fruit is neat...I'd eat it as an adult. We only have pizza with whole wheat crust on Thursdays. It is a $1/slice, and it must be pre-ordered a month in advance. There is also a milk program for either white or chocolate milk. It's $15 for 20 250 mL cartons. We have no cafe in the elementary school system.

in sweden we have free lunch at school and its always cooked and hot and big table whit diffrent veggis and u can pick what u like
Josefine Johansson here in the United States the lunch prices go by the parents income. lower the income the cheaper or even free the lunch is.

I am in Oklahoma and agree the school lunches seem pretty junkie. It is a $1.90 (both my boys are in elementary) even though that isn't super expensive it bothers me for them to eat in the cafeteria because of the quality. I have never left a comment here before but I just wanted to say I appreciate all of your sharing it is a good place for inspiration. So thank you. :-)
I noticed none of the kids bring water bottle? In Canada schools believe juice isn't good for the kids and they need fluid in the 6 hour Canadian school day from 8:45-3pm for elementary and the start times slightly vary with each school, but some are the same.

My 2nd & 3rd graders pack lunches most days. My high schooler thinks she's too cool to eat at school so with her job, she puts away $20 from here check that goes towards her weekly fast food lunch. This year they have a full salad bar at every school and my kids were stoked. I am too. We are in Colorado, the lunches are $1.95 and if I eat with them my price is $3.00
I wish I didn't have to go out of state to get to the nearest Costco! We only have Sam's Club here, and it's just not as good...

I never spend less than $100 at the grocery store every time I go and I go at least once a week with some exceptions. This is only for a family of 3, well including pets😂 so this haul is a really good price.

My daddy actually got into the wrong minivan at a gas station when I was about 14. He couldn't figure out why the people in the other van were yelling and then he realized the person he was talking to wasn't my mom and that the people yelling were us!
