    The thing is, he talks in almost all the games. We, the players, just don't get to hear him talk because he was meant to be a "self insert" type of character where you can put yourself in his shoes.
    There are multiple times in multiple games where you can even see Link talk but don't hear him(for reasons I just mentioned)
    A prime example I have is in Skyward Sword where you can see Link gesturing with his hands as he tells Groose, who just fell from the sky to follow Link, about the world under the clouds.

  • @Hyrule-Postman
    @Hyrule-Postman Před 6 měsíci

    Link may not have a voice, but he does talk. Whenever you select a dialogue option in BOTW, that is what he say to the npc. He lost his memory after, he probably does remember why he went silent, or even that he did. He probably does in every games after OoT and MM too. Link isn't an empty shell for the player to impersonate anymore, he's his own character with his own emotion independent of the player, we follow his story now. I wish they showed that more in TOTK, especially at the end.

    Also, in the memory you get at Sanidin Park, “To Mount Lanayru” when Zelda says “Be sure to take the time to sooth your mount. It’s the only way to show it how you really feel.” That’s actually in parentheses, and with her following it up with adressing Link and saying “your advice was very helpful, thank you.” That’s a direct quote from our Hero of the Wild! (The wording wasn’t exactly the same here, though. I’m not perfect)

    Breath of the wild gave an incredible explanation, Link doesn't talk cause he doesn't want to complain about his destiny. Imagine yourself being chosen as a hero to stop the end of the world because your ancestors who carried the same will did so without batting an eye. This is how you write a great destined character, one who accepts his role and does everything he can to fulfil it

  • @adinom687

    I haven’t played many Zelda games, but he does canonically talk in Tears of the Kingdom. When he converses with characters, his hands move and I believe so does his mouth. We just can’t hear him, most likely because Nintendo wants us to connect to him, and if we can hear his voice, we no longer have as close of a connection. (Obviously many games do this)

    He talks quite a bit actually.
    In zelda 2, he sometimes speak in first person when finding stuff
    In links awakening, after reading the prophecy, he responds by saying "what? A illusion?" This is present in the remake as well
    The cdi games and the cartoon (obviously)
    I believe he talks in Mario Rpg, where you can find him and samus sleeping at a hotel
    And though not technically speaking, in triforce heros, we see someone who looks alot like a link to the past link, and when playing co-op, you can send messages saying stuff like help, no, hi and yes

      Even better, in totk i found an npc in lookout landing facing somewhere else and i talked to him from the back, then that guy says "that voice..." turns around and then goes on with the 'oh link you are here' trope from most of those npc in that area. So yeah, is super mega clear that he talks, just that, he conveniently only does so when he and the other npc start speaking in hyas, ho hos, ooh, eeh, hmmm, ahyas, etc.
